Die Geburt Jesu
18Mit dem Ursprung[7] Jesu Christi verhielt es sich aber so: Als nämlich Maria, seine Mutter, dem Josef verlobt war, wurde sie, ehe sie zusammengekommen waren, schwanger befunden von dem Heiligen Geist. (Lk 1,27)19Josef aber, ihr Mann, der gerecht war und sie nicht öffentlich bloßstellen[8] wollte, gedachte sie heimlich zu entlassen. (4Mo 5,30; 5Mo 24,1)20Während er dies aber überlegte, siehe, da erschien ihm ein Engel des Herrn im Traum und sprach: Josef, Sohn Davids, fürchte dich nicht, Maria, deine Frau, zu dir zu nehmen! Denn das in ihr Gezeugte ist von dem Heiligen Geist. (Mt 2,13; Lk 1,11)21Und sie wird einen Sohn gebären, und du sollst seinen Namen Jesus nennen, denn er wird sein Volk retten von seinen[9] Sünden. L’annonce de la naissance de Jésus
18Voici dans quelles circonstances Jésus-Christ vint au monde: Marie, sa mère, était liée par fiançailles à Joseph; or elle se trouva enceinte par l’action du Saint-Esprit, avant qu’ils aient vécu ensemble[1].19Joseph, son futur mari, était un homme juste. Il ne voulait pas la livrer au déshonneur. C’est pourquoi il se proposa de rompre ses fiançailles sans en ébruiter la raison.20Il réfléchissait à ce projet quand un ange du Seigneur lui apparut en rêve et lui dit: Joseph, descendant de David, ne crains pas de prendre Marie pour femme, car l’enfant qu’elle porte vient de l’Esprit Saint.21Elle donnera naissance à un fils, tu l’appelleras Jésus. C’est lui, en effet, qui sauvera son peuple de ses péchés[2].22Tout cela arriva pour que s’accomplisse cette parole du Seigneur[3] transmise par le prophète:23Voici, la jeune fille vierge sera enceinte. Et elle enfantera un fils[4] que l’on appellera Emmanuel, ce qui veut dire: Dieu avec nous[5].
