1Dann wurde Jesus von dem Geist in die Wüste hinaufgeführt, um von dem Teufel versucht zu werden; (Mt 3,16; Mk 1,12; Lk 4,1; Apg 8,29)2und als er vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte gefastet hatte, hungerte ihn schließlich. Denn es steht geschrieben: »Er wird seinen Engeln über dir befehlen, und sie werden dich auf den Händen tragen, damit du nicht etwa deinen Fuß an einen Stein stößt.« (Ps 91,11; Spr 3,23; Mt 27,40)7Jesus sprach zu ihm: Wiederum steht geschrieben: »Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, nicht versuchen.« (5Mo 6,16; Apg 5,9; 1Kor 10,9)8Wiederum nimmt der Teufel ihn mit auf einen sehr hohen Berg und zeigt ihm alle Reiche[1] der Welt und ihre Herrlichkeit9und sprach zu ihm: Dies alles will ich dir geben, wenn du niederfallen und mich anbeten willst.10Da spricht Jesus zu ihm: Geh hinweg, Satan! Denn es steht geschrieben: »Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, anbeten und ihm allein dienen.« (5Mo 6,13; 5Mo 10,20; 1Sam 7,3)11Dann verlässt ihn der Teufel, und siehe, Engel kamen herbei und dienten ihm. Bußpredigt in Galiläa
12Als er aber gehört hatte, dass Johannes überliefert worden war, ging er weg nach Galiläa; (Mt 11,2; Mt 12,15; Mt 14,3; Mt 14,13; Mk 1,14; Lk 3,20; Lk 4,14; Joh 4,3)13und er verließ Nazareth und kam und wohnte in Kapernaum, das am See[2] liegt, in dem Gebiet von Sebulon und Naftali; (Mt 9,1; Mt 11,23; Mk 1,21; Lk 4,30)14damit erfüllt wurde, was durch den Propheten Jesaja geredet worden ist, der sagt:15»Land Sebulon und Land Naftali, gegen den See hin, jenseits des Jordan, Galiläa der Nationen:16Das Volk, das in Finsternis saß, hat ein großes Licht gesehen, und denen, die im Land und Schatten des Todes saßen, ist Licht aufgegangen.« (Jes 8,23; Jes 9,1; Lk 1,79; Joh 1,5)17Von da an begann Jesus zu predigen und zu sagen: Tut Buße, denn das Reich[3] der Himmel ist nahe gekommen! 18Als er aber am See von Galiläa entlangging, sah er zwei Brüder: Simon, genannt Petrus, und Andreas, seinen Bruder, die ein Netz in den See warfen, denn sie waren Fischer. (Mt 19,27)21Und als er von dort weiterging, sah er zwei andere Brüder: Jakobus, den ⟨Sohn⟩ des Zebedäus, und Johannes, seinen Bruder, im Boot mit ihrem Vater Zebedäus, wie sie ihre Netze ausbesserten; und er rief sie. 23Und er zog in ganz Galiläa umher, lehrte in ihren Synagogen[4] und predigte das Evangelium des Reiches[5] und heilte jede Krankheit und jedes Gebrechen unter dem Volk. Jesus Begins His Ministry
12Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. (Mt 14,3; Mk 1,14; Lk 3,19; Lk 4,14; Joh 3,24)13And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, (Jos 19,32; Mt 2,23; Mt 9,1; Joh 6,1)14so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: (Mt 1,22)15“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— (Jes 9,1)16the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.” (Hi 3,5; Ps 23,4; Jes 42,7; Am 5,8; Lk 1,79)17From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”[1] (Mt 3,2; Mk 1,14)
Jesus Calls the First Disciples
18While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. (Mt 4,13; Mk 1,16; Lk 5,2; Joh 1,40)19And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”[2] (Mt 13,47)20Immediately they left their nets and followed him.21And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.22Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
Jesus Ministers to Great Crowds
23And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people. (Mt 8,16; Mt 9,35; Mt 13,19; Mt 13,54; Mt 14,35; Mt 24,14; Mk 1,21; Mk 1,34; Mk 1,39; Mk 6,55; Lk 4,15; Lk 4,43; Joh 18,20)24So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, those having seizures, and paralytics, and he healed them. (Mt 4,23; Mt 8,6; Mt 9,2; Mt 9,6; Mt 17,15; Lk 2,2; Joh 10,21)25And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis, and from Jerusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
