Dritte Rede des Elifas: Hiobs selbst verschuldetes Elend – Aufruf zur Buße
1Und Elifas von Teman antwortete und sagte: (Hi 4,1)2Kann denn ein Mann Gott Nutzen bringen? Vielmehr sich selbst[1] bringt der Einsichtige Nutzen. (Hi 35,7; Spr 9,12)3Ist es dem Allmächtigen von Wert[2], wenn du gerecht bist, oder ist es ihm ein Gewinn, wenn du deine Wege vollkommen machst? (Hi 21,15; Hi 34,9)4Für deine ⟨Gottes⟩furcht sollte er dich strafen, mit dir vor Gericht gehen?5Ist nicht deine Bosheit vielfältig und ohne Ende deine Schuld? (Hi 15,5; Hi 32,3)6Denn du pflegtest deinen Bruder ohne Grund zu pfänden, und die Kleider zogest du den Nackten aus. (5Mo 24,10; Hi 24,3; Hi 31,19)7Nicht ⟨einmal⟩ Wasser gabst du dem Durstigen[3] zu trinken, und dem Hungrigen verweigertest du Brot.8Und dem Mann der Faust[4] gehört das Land, und der Angesehene[5] darf darin wohnen.9Die Witwen hast du mit leeren Händen weggeschickt, und die Arme der Waisen sind zerschlagen[6]. (Hi 29,12)10Darum sind rings um dich her Fallen[7], und in Bestürzung versetzt dich plötzlicher Schrecken (Hi 18,11)11oder Finsternis, ⟨in der⟩ du nichts sehen kannst[8], und Wasserflut, die dich bedeckt. (Ps 69,2; Kla 3,54)12Ist Gott nicht so hoch wie der Himmel? Schau an die höchsten Sterne[9], wie hoch sie sind! (Hi 35,5; Pred 5,1)13Und du sagst: Was weiß denn Gott? Kann er durch das Wolkendunkel hindurch richten? (Hi 34,22; Ps 10,11; Ps 73,11; Ps 139,7; Jer 23,24; Am 9,2; Hebr 4,13)14Die Wolken sind ihm ein Versteck, dass er nichts sieht, und am Kreis des Himmels wandelt er. –15Willst du dem Pfad der Vorzeit folgen, den die Männer des Unheils betraten, (1Mo 6,5)16die gepackt wurden[10] vor der Zeit – ein Strom hat ihr Fundament weggerissen[11] –, (Hi 36,14)17die zu Gott sagten: Weiche von uns!, und: Was kann der Allmächtige uns[12] schon tun? (2Mo 5,23; Hi 21,14)18Und er hatte ihre Häuser ⟨doch⟩ mit Gutem erfüllt! – Aber von mir bleibe fern der Rat der Gottlosen! – (Hi 21,16; Apg 14,17)19Die Gerechten sehen es und freuen sich, und der Schuldlose verspottet sie: (Ps 107,42)20Fürwahr, unsere Gegner sind[13] vernichtet, und ihren Rest hat das Feuer gefressen![14] (Hi 20,29)21Söhne dich doch aus mit ihm[15] und halte Frieden! Dadurch kommt zu dir ⟨dann⟩ wieder Gutes.22Nimm aus seinem Mund doch Weisung an und lege seine Worte dir ins Herz! (Hi 23,12)23Wenn du umkehrst zum Allmächtigen,[16] wirst du wieder aufgebaut[17], hältst du Unrecht fern von deinem Zelt. (2Chr 33,13; Hi 8,6; Ps 130,4; Jes 55,7; Hos 6,1; 2Tim 2,19)24Wirf in den Staub das Golderz und in den Kies der Bäche ⟨dein Gold aus⟩ Ofir, (1Kön 9,28)25so wird der Allmächtige dir dein Golderz und erlesenes Silber sein. (Kla 3,24; Mt 6,19)26Denn dann wirst du am Allmächtigen deine Lust haben und zu Gott dein Gesicht erheben. (Hi 11,15; Hi 27,10; Ps 37,4; Jes 58,14)27Du wirst zu ihm beten, und er wird dich erhören; und deine Gelübde wirst du erfüllen. (2Kön 13,4; 1Chr 4,10; 2Chr 33,13; Ps 50,14; Ps 66,13; Jes 58,9; Jer 29,12)28Beschließt du eine Sache, wird sie zustande kommen, und über deinen Wegen leuchtet Licht auf. (Hi 29,3; Ps 1,3; Ps 97,11)29Denn er erniedrigt hochmütiges Reden[18], aber dem mit niedergeschlagenen Augen hilft er[19]. (Jes 57,15; 1Petr 5,6)30⟨Selbst⟩ den nicht Schuldlosen[20] wird er retten[21]; ja, er wird gerettet[22] durch die Reinheit deiner Hände. (Hi 42,8)

There is no end to your iniquities.6For you have exacted pledges of your brothers for nothing and stripped the naked of their clothing. (Hi 11,8)13But you say, ‘What does God know? Can he judge through the deep darkness? (Hi 38,9; Ps 10,11; Ps 59,7; Ps 64,5; Ps 73,11; Ps 94,7; Jes 29,15; Hes 8,12; Hes 9,9)14Thick clouds veil him, so that he does not see, and he walks on the vault of heaven.’ (Ps 139,11; Spr 8,27; Jes 40,22)15Will you keep to the old way that wicked men have trod?16They were snatched away before their time; their foundation was washed away.[1] (Hi 15,32)17They said to God, ‘Depart from us,’ and ‘What can the Almighty do to us?’[2] (Hi 21,14; Ps 4,6)18Yet he filled their houses with good things— but the counsel of the wicked is far from me. (Hi 21,16)19The righteous see it and are glad; the innocent one mocks at them, (Ps 2,4; Ps 52,6; Ps 58,10; Ps 64,10; Ps 107,42)20saying, ‘Surely our adversaries are cut off, and what they left the fire has consumed.’ (Hi 1,16)21“Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you. (Ps 119,45; Spr 3,2)22Receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart. (Ps 119,11; Spr 2,6; Mal 2,7)23If you return to the Almighty you will be built up; if you remove injustice far from your tents, (Hi 8,5; Hi 11,13; Hi 11,14; Jer 24,6; Jer 33,7; Mal 3,7)24if you lay gold in the dust, and gold of Ophir among the stones of the torrent-bed, (1Kön 9,28; Hi 20,11; Hi 21,26)25then the Almighty will be your gold and your precious silver.26For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty and lift up your face to God. (Hi 11,15; Hi 27,10; Ps 37,4; Jes 58,14)27You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you, and you will pay your vows. (Hi 33,26; Ps 50,14; Jes 58,9)28You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways. (Spr 4,18)29For when they are humbled you say, ‘It is because of pride’;[3] but he saves the lowly.
