1So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, (羅15:30; 林后13:14; 西3:12; 帖后2:16)2complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. (约3:29; 约15:11; 羅12:16)3Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. (羅12:10; 加5:26; 弗4:2; 弗5:21; 腓1:17)4Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. (羅15:2)5Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,[1] (太11:29; 羅15:3)6who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,[2] (约1:1; 约5:18; 约10:33; 约14:28; 林后4:4)7but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,[3] being born in the likeness of men. (赛42:1; 太20:28; 可9:12; 约1:14; 羅8:3; 林后8:9; 林后13:4; 加4:4)8And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (太26:39; 约10:18; 羅5:19; 來5:8; 來12:2)9Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, (赛52:13; 赛53:12; 太28:18; 约10:17; 徒2:33; 徒5:41; 弗1:21; 來1:4; 來2:9)10so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, (赛45:23; 羅14:11; 弗1:10; 启5:3; 启5:13)11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (约13:13; 羅10:9; 羅14:9; 林前12:3)
Lights in the World
12Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, (林后10:5; 腓1:5; 腓4:15; 來5:9; 彼前1:2)13for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (林前12:6; 林前15:10; 提前2:4; 來13:21)14Do all things without grumbling or disputing, (提前2:8; 彼前4:9)15that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, (申32:5; 太5:14; 太5:16; 太5:45; 弗5:1; 多2:10; 彼前2:12; 犹1:24)16holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. (徒5:20; 林前1:8; 林后1:14; 加2:2; 加4:11; 帖前3:5)17Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. (羅15:16; 林后12:15; 约一3:16)18Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
Timothy and Epaphroditus
19I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be cheered by news of you. (林前4:17; 帖前3:2)20For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. (林前16:10)21For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. (林前10:24; 提后3:2)22But you know Timothy’s[4] proven worth, how as a son[5] with a father he has served with me in the gospel. (林前4:17; 林后2:9; 提前1:2; 提后1:2; 提后3:10)23I hope therefore to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me,24and I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come also. (腓1:25; 门1:22)25I have thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need, (腓4:18; 门1:2)26for he has been longing for you all and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill.27Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.28I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious.29So receive him in the Lord with all joy, and honor such men, (羅16:2; 林前16:18; 帖前5:12; 提前5:17)30for he nearly died[6] for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was lacking in your service to me. (徒20:24; 林前16:17; 腓4:10)
