1But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. (提前4:1)2For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, (路16:14; 羅1:30; 腓2:21; 提前6:10)3heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, (羅1:31; 多1:8)4treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, (腓3:19; 提前3:6; 提前6:4)5having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. (提前5:8; 提前6:20; 多1:14)6For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, (多1:11)7always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. (提前2:4)8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. (出7:11; 徒13:8; 提前6:5; 多1:16)9But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men. (出7:12; 出8:18; 出9:11)
All Scripture Is Breathed Out by God
10You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, (腓2:22)11my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. (诗34:19; 徒13:14; 徒13:45; 徒13:50; 徒14:1; 徒14:5; 徒14:6; 徒14:19; 林后1:10; 提后4:17)12Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, (徒14:22; 多2:12)13while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. (多3:3; 启22:11)14But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom[1] you learned it (提前4:6)15and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (诗119:99; 约5:39; 弗6:4; 提后1:5)16All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, (羅15:4; 彼后1:20)17that the man of God[2] may be complete, equipped for every good work. (路6:40; 提前6:11; 提后2:21)
