— Sedmé „Běda!“ proti Judovi - I Juda porušuje Hospodinův zákon a nezná slitování s potřebnými.
1 Běda těm, kdo nařizují ničemná nařízení těm, kdo předpisují plahočení, 2 nuzným odnímají možnost obhajoby, utištěné mého lidu zbavují práva; jejich kořistí jsou vdovy a sirotky olupují. 3 Co si počnete v den navštívení, až se z dálky přižene zkáza? Ke komu se utečete o pomoc, kde zanecháte svoji slávu? 4 Nezbude než sklonit se mezi vězně či zůstat ležet mezi zabitými. Tím vším se jeho hněv neodvrátil a jeho ruka zůstává napřažena.
— Výstraha Asýrii - Asýrie, kdysi metla hněvu Hospodinova, bude pro svou pýchu postižena jeho hněvem.
5 „Běda Asýrii, metle mého hněvu, té holi, skrze kterou projevím svůj hrozný hněv. 6 Posílám ji na rouhavý pronárod, proti lidu, proti němuž plane má prchlivost; dávám jí příkaz, aby kořistila a kořistila, loupila a loupila, aby jej šlapala jako hlínu na ulicích. 7 Ona si to však představit nedovede, neuvažuje o tom v svém srdci, myslí jen na to, jak by vyhubila, jak by vymýtila nemálo pronárodů. 8 Říká: ‚Což nejsou mí velitelé zároveň králi? 9 Což nedopadlo Kalno jako Karkemíš? Zrušil jsem hranice národů, co nakupily, to jsem vydrancoval a jako býk jsem svrhl vládce z trůnu. 14 Jako hnízdo nalezla má ruka bohatství národů; jako se vybírají opuštěná vejce, tak jsem vybral celou zemi. Nikdo ani křídlem nezamával, nikdo zobák neotevřel a nepípl.‘ 15 Což se smí sekera holedbat nad toho, kdo jí seká? A pila povyšovat se nad toho, kdo jí řeže? Jako by metla mohla švihat toho, kdo ji zvedá, nebo hůl se vynášet, že není dřevo.“ 16 Proto pošle Pán, Hospodin zástupů, na asyrské vypasence úbytě a pod asyrskou slávou to zapraská praskotem ohně. 17 Světlo Izraelovo se stane ohněm a jeho Svatý plamenem. Ten bude hořet a pozře její křoví a bodláčí v jediný den. 18 I slávu jejího lesa a sadu stráví se vším všudy, jako choroba užírá chorého. 19 Stromů v jejím lese zůstane tak málo, že je spočítá i chlapec.
— Hospodin pokoří pýchu útočníka - Dosud je u moci nepřítel, ale Hospodin už ohlašuje jemu zničení a svému lidu vysvobození.
20 V onen den se pozůstatek Izraele s uprchlíky domu Jákobova nebude už opírat o toho, který ho bije, ale bude se věrně opírat o Hospodina, Svatého, Boha Izraele. 21 Pozůstatek se vrátí, pozůstatek Jákoba, k Bohu – bohatýru. 22 Neboť i kdyby bylo tvého lidu, Izraeli, jak mořského písku, vrátí se k němu jen pozůstatek. Je rozhodnut skoncovat, jako záplava se valí spravedlnost. 23 Ano, Panovník, Hospodin zástupů, se rozhodl učinit konec, a to po celé zemi. 24 Proto Panovník, Hospodin zástupů, praví toto: „Můj lide, který bydlíš na Sijónu, neboj se Asýrie. Bije tě metlou a zvedá na tebe hůl jako kdysi Egypt.25 Ještě jen kratičký čas a můj hrozný hněv skončí; je však můj hněv zničí.“26 Hospodin zástupů nad ní zamává bičem, jako když bil Midjána na Havraní skále, a zdvihne svou hůl na moře jako kdysi na Egypt. 27 V onen den ti spadne z ramen její břímě a její jho z šíje, jho se z tebe sesmekne jak po oleji. 28 Už táhne na Aját, prošel Migrónem a zbroj si v Michmásu složil. 29 Prošli průsmykem. Řekli: „Přenocujeme v Gebě.“ Ráma se třásla, Saulova Gibea se dala na útěk. 30 Pronikavě křič, galímská dcero, Lajšo, napjatě poslouchej, odpověz, Anatóte. 31 V Madméně je poplach, gebímští obyvatelé hledají záštitu. 32 Ještě dnes stane v Nóbu a rukou mávne proti hoře sijónské dcery, proti pahorku jeruzalémskému. 33 Hle, Pán, Hospodin zástupů, hrozivou silou klestí větvoví, pyšně se tyčící stromy jsou porubány, i ty nejvyšší jsou poníženy. 34 Železem bude vysekáno lesní houští, Libanón padne rukou Vznešeného.

Judgment on Arrogant Assyria

The Remnant of Israel Will Return
20In that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no more lean on him who struck them, but will lean on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
