1Si YHVH no edifica la Casa, en vano trabajan los que la edifican, Si YHVH no guarda la ciudad, en vano vela la guardia.2En vano es que os levantéis de madrugada, Y tarde vayáis a descansar, Y que comáis el pan de afanes, Pues lo dará a su amado mientras duerme.3He aquí, herencia de YHVH son los hijos, Y una recompensa el fruto del vientre.4Como saetas en manos del valiente, Así son los hijos habidos en la juventud.5¡Cuán bienaventurado es el varón que llena su aljaba de ellos! No será avergonzado cuando hable con sus enemigos en la puerta.
