1Una gran señal fue vista en el cielo: una mujer vestida del sol, y la luna debajo de sus pies, y en su cabeza una corona de doce estrellas;2y estando encinta, grita con dolores de parto angustiada por dar a luz.3Otra señal fue vista en el cielo: he aquí un gran dragón rojo, que tenía siete cabezas y diez cuernos, y en sus cabezas, siete diademas,4y su cola arrastra la tercera parte de las estrellas del cielo, y las arrojó a la tierra. Y el dragón se paró delante de la mujer que estaba a punto de dar a luz, a fin de devorar a su hijo cuando ella diera a luz.5Y ella dio a luz un hijo varón, destinado a regir a todas las naciones con vara de hierro: y su hijo fue arrebatado hacia Dios y hasta su trono.6Y la mujer huyó al desierto, allí donde tiene un lugar preparado por Dios, para que allí la sustenten durante mil doscientos sesenta días.7Estalló una batalla en el cielo: Miguel y sus ángeles para luchar contra el dragón; y luchó el dragón y sus ángeles,8pero no prevaleció, ni fue hallado ya en el cielo lugar para ellos.9Y fue arrojado el gran dragón, la serpiente antigua, el llamado diablo y Satanás, el cual engaña al mundo entero; fue arrojado a la tierra, y sus ángeles fueron arrojados con él.10Entonces oí una gran voz en el cielo, que decía: ¡Ahora han venido la salvación y el poder y el reino de nuestro Dios, y la soberanía de su Ungido, porque fue arrojado el acusador de nuestros hermanos, el que los acusaba día y noche delante de nuestro Dios!11Y ellos lo vencieron en virtud de la sangre del Cordero y por la palabra de su testimonio, y despreciaron su vida hasta la muerte.12Por tanto ¡regocijaos cielos, y los que moráis en ellos! ¡Ay de la tierra y del mar! porque el diablo ha bajado hasta vosotros con gran furor, sabiendo que tiene poco tiempo.13Y cuando el dragón vio que había sido arrojado a la tierra, persiguió a la mujer que había dado a luz al varón.14Pero a la mujer le fueron dadas las dos alas de la gran águila, para que volara lejos de la presencia de la serpiente, al desierto, a su lugar, allí donde es alimentada por tiempo, tiempos y medio tiempo.15Y la serpiente arrojó de su boca, tras la mujer, agua como un río, para hacer que fuera arrastrada por un río.16Pero la tierra ayudó a la mujer, pues abrió la tierra su boca y se tragó el río que el dragón había arrojado de su boca.17Entonces el dragón se enfureció contra la mujer, y se fue a hacer guerra contra los restantes de su descendencia: los que guardan los mandamientos de Dios y tienen el testimonio de Jesús,18y se paró sobre la arena del mar.

And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it. (Dn 8:10; Mt 2:16; Ap 8:7)5She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule[1] all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne, (Mt 2:6; 2 Co 12:2; Ap 2:27)6and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days. (Ap 11:2; Ap 13:5)
Satan Thrown Down to Earth
7Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, (Mt 25:41; Jud 1:9)8but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.9And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. (Gn 3:1; Lc 10:18; Jn 8:44; Jn 12:31; Ap 9:1; Ap 13:14; Ap 20:2; Ap 20:3; Ap 20:10)10And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers[2] has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. (Job 1:9; Job 2:5; Zac 3:1; Ap 7:10; Ap 19:1)11And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. (Lc 14:26; Jn 12:25; Jn 16:33; Ro 16:20; Ap 2:10; Ap 15:2)12Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!” (Sal 96:11; Is 44:23; Is 49:13; Mt 8:29; Ap 8:13; Ap 10:6; Ap 18:20)13And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. (Ap 12:5)14But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time. (Ex 19:4; Dn 7:25; Dn 12:7; Ap 12:6)15The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood. (Is 59:19)16But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth.17Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.
