1Y me fue dada una caña semejante a una vara, diciendo: Levántate y mide el santuario de Dios, el altar, y a los que adoran en él;2pero el atrio del santuario déjalo fuera y no lo midas, porque ha sido entregado a los gentiles, y ellos hollarán la ciudad santa durante cuarenta y dos meses.3Y daré a mis dos testigos, y profetizarán durante mil doscientos sesenta días vestidos de tela de saco.4Éstos son los dos olivos, y los dos candelabros que están en pie delante del Señor de toda la tierra.5Si alguno procura dañarlos, un fuego procede de sus bocas que devora a sus enemigos: si alguno procura dañarlos, debe morir de la misma manera.6Éstos tienen la potestad de cerrar el cielo, para que no caiga lluvia en los días de su profecía; también tienen potestad sobre las aguas para convertirlas en sangre, y para herir la tierra con toda plaga, cuantas veces quieran.7Cuando terminen su testimonio, la bestia que sube del abismo hará guerra contra ellos, y los vencerá, y los matará.8Y sus cadáveres yacerán en la plaza de la gran ciudad, que espiritualmente se llama Sodoma, y Egipto, donde también fue crucificado el Señor de ellos.9Y los de los pueblos, y tribus, y lenguas y naciones, contemplan sus cadáveres durante tres días y medio, y no permiten que sus cadáveres sean puestos en un sepulcro.10Y los que habitan en la tierra se regocijan sobre ellos y lo celebran, y se enviarán regalos unos a otros, porque ellos atormentaron a los que habitan sobre la tierra.11Pero después de los tres días y medio, entró en ellos un aliento de vida procedente de Dios, y se pusieron sobre sus pies, y un gran temor cayó sobre quienes los contemplaban.12Y oyeron una gran voz procedente del cielo, que les decía: ¡Subid acá! Y subieron al cielo en la nube, y los contemplaron sus enemigos.13En aquella hora hubo un gran terremoto, y la décima parte de la ciudad se derrumbó, y en el terremoto murieron siete mil hombres, y los demás se llenaron de temor, y dieron gloria al Dios del cielo.14El segundo ¡ay! pasó, he aquí el tercer ¡ay! viene pronto.
El tiempo de la ira de Dios
15Y el séptimo ángel tocó la trompeta, y hubo grandes voces en el cielo, que decían: ¡El reino del mundo ha llegado a ser de nuestro Señor y de su Ungido, y reinará por los siglos de los siglos!16Y los veinticuatro ancianos que estaban sentados en sus tronos ante Dios, se postraron sobre sus rostros, y adoraron a Dios,17diciendo: Te damos gracias, Señor Dios, Todopoderoso, el que eres y el que eras, porque has tomado tu gran poder y asumiste el reino.18Y se airaron las naciones, pero ha llegado ya tu ira, y el tiempo de ser juzgados los muertos, y de dar el galardón a tus siervos los profetas, y a los santos, y a los que temen tu nombre, a los pequeños y a los grandes, y de destruir a los que destruyen la tierra.19Y el santuario de Dios en el cielo se abrió, y en su santuario fue vista el arca de su pacto, y hubo relámpagos, y voces, y truenos, y un terremoto, y grande granizo.
1Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told, “Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there, (Ez 40:3; Zac 2:1; Ap 21:15)2but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months. (Ez 40:17; Ez 40:20; Lc 21:24; Ap 12:6; Ap 13:5)3And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” (Is 20:2; Ap 11:2)4These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. (Sal 52:8; Jer 11:16; Zac 4:3; Zac 4:11; Zac 4:14)5And if anyone would harm them, fire pours from their mouth and consumes their foes. If anyone would harm them, this is how he is doomed to be killed. (Nm 16:29; Nm 16:35; 2 R 1:10; 2 R 1:12; Jer 5:14)6They have the power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire. (1 S 4:8; 1 R 17:1; Lc 4:25; Stg 5:17)7And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit[1] will make war on them and conquer them and kill them, (Dn 7:21; Ap 9:1; Ap 13:1; Ap 17:8)8and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically[2] is called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified. (Is 1:10; Is 3:9; Ez 23:3; Ez 23:8; Ez 23:19; Ez 23:27)9For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb, (Sal 79:2)10and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth. (1 R 18:17; Neh 8:10; Neh 8:12; Est 9:19; Est 9:22; Jn 16:20; Ap 3:10)11But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. (Gn 2:7; Ez 37:5; Ez 37:9; Ez 37:14)12Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here!” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies watched them. (2 R 2:11; Hch 1:9; Ap 4:1; Ap 12:5)13And at that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. (Jos 7:19; 2 Cr 36:23; Ap 6:12; Ap 14:7; Ap 16:9; Ap 16:19; Ap 19:7)14The second woe has passed; behold, the third woe is soon to come. (Ap 8:13; Ap 9:12)
The Seventh Trumpet
15Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.” (Sal 2:2; Is 27:13; Lc 1:33; Lc 9:20; Ap 10:7; Ap 12:10; Ap 16:17; Ap 19:1)16And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God, (Ap 4:4; Ap 4:10)17saying, “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, for you have taken your great power and begun to reign. (Sal 97:1; Ap 1:4; Ap 1:8; Ap 4:8; Ap 16:5; Ap 19:6)18The nations raged, but your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth.” (Sal 2:5; Sal 110:5; Dn 7:10; 2 Ts 1:6; Ap 6:10; Ap 13:10; Ap 19:5; Ap 20:12)19Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings,[3] peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail. (Heb 9:4; Ap 15:5; Ap 16:21)
