1 В Антиохийската църква имаше някои пророци и учители, именно: Варнава и Симеон, наречен Нигер, Луций киринеец, Манаил, съвъзпитаник на Ирода четвъртовластника, и Савел. (Д А 11:27) 2 Когато те служеха на Господа и постеха, Дух Светии каза: отделете Ми Варнава и Савла за делото, за което съм ги призвал. (Д А 9:15; Рим 1:1; Гал 1:15; 1 Тим 2:7) 3 Тогава те, след като постиха и се молиха, възложиха ръце на тях и ги пуснаха. Тоя, като повика Варнава и Савла, пожела да чуе словото Божие. 8 А магьосник Елима (защото името му така се тълкува) се противеше на тях, като се стараеше да отвърне проконсула от вярата. (Д А 8:9; 2 Тим 3:8) 9 Но Савел, който се наричаше и Павел, изпълнен с Дух Светий, устреми върху му поглед 10 и каза: о, ти, който си пълен с всякакво коварство и всякаква измама, дяволски сине, враго на всяка правда! Не ще ли престанеш да изкривяваш правите Господни пътища? (Мт 13:38; Йн 8:44; 1 Йн 3:8) 11 И сега ето, ръката Господня е върху тебе: ще бъдеш сляп и до някое време няма да виждаш слънцето. И изведнъж падна върху му тъма и мрак, и той, обръщайки се насам-нататък, търсеше водач. 12 Тогава проконсулът, като видя станалото, повярва и се чудеше на учението Господне. 13 Като отплуваха от Пафос, Павел и ония, които бяха с него, стигнаха в Пергия Памфилийска. Но Иоан се отдели от тях и се върна в Иерусалим. (Д А 15:38) 14 А те, като заминаха от Пергия, стигнаха в Антиохия Писидийска, и в съботния ден влязоха в синагогата и седнаха. 15 След четенето на Закона и на пророците, началниците на синагогата проводиха да им кажат: мъже братя, ако има у вас слово за утеха към народа, говорете. 16 Павел, като стана и даде знак с ръка, каза: мъже израилтяни и вие, които се боите от Бога! послушайте! 17 Бог на израилския народ избра отците ни; тия люде Той въздигна през пребиванието им в Египетската земя, и с висока мишца ги изведе из нея, (Изх 1:1; Изх 13:16) 18 и около четирийсет години време ги храни в пустинята; (Изх 16:35) 19 и като изтреби седем народа в земята Ханаанска, раздели между тях по жребие земята им; (И Н 3:10) 20 а след това около четиристотин и петдесет години им дава съдии до пророк Самуила. (Съд 2:16) 21 После поискаха цар, и Бог им даде Саула, Кисов син, мъж от Вениаминово коляно, за през четирийсет години. (1 Цар 8:5; 1 Цар 9:16) 22 Като отхвърли тогова, въздигна им за цар Давида, за когото и каза, свидетелствувайки: „намерих мъж по сърцето Си, Давида, сина Иесеев, който ще изпълни всичките Ми искания“. (1 Цар 13:14; Пс 88:19) 23 От неговото именно потомство Бог по обещание въздигна Израилю Спасителя Иисуса, (2 Цар 7:12; Пс 131:3; Ис 11:1) 24 след като Иоан преди появяването Му проповядва покайно кръщение на цял народ израилски. (Мт 3:1) 25 А когато Иоан свършваше своето поприще, думаше: „за кого ме смятате? Не съм аз Христос, но ето, след мене иде Оня, Комуто не съм достоен да развържа обущата на нозете“. (Йн 1:20; Йн 3:28) 26 Вам, мъже братя, синове на Авраамовия род, и на ония между вас, които се боят от Бога, е пратено словото на това спасение. (Мт 10:6) 27 Защото жителите иерусалимски и техните началници, като не познаха Него и пророческите думи, които се четат всяка събота, и като Го осъдиха, изпълниха тия думи; (Лк 24:27; 1 Кор 2:8) 28 и макар да не намериха никаква вина, достойна за смърт, поискаха от Пилата да Го убие. (Мт 27:30; Лк 23:23; Д А 3:14) 29 А когато извършиха всичко, що бе писано за Него, снеха Го от дървото и положиха в гроб. 30 Но Бог Го възкреси от мъртвите; (Мт 28:6; Мк 16:6) 31 през много дни Той се явяваше на ония, които бяха възлезли с Него от Галилея за Иерусалим и които сега са Негови свидетели пред народа. (Йн 20:19) 32 И ние ви благовестим сега, че обещанието, дадено на отците, Бог изпълни над нас, техни чеда, като възкреси Иисуса, (Бит 22:18; 2 Цар 7:12; Ис 4:2) 33 както и във втория псалом е писано: „Син Мой си Ти: Аз днес Те родих“. (Пс 2:7; Евр 1:5) 34 А че Го е възкресил от мъртвите, та няма вече да се връща в тление, бе казал тъй: „ще ви дам неизменните милости, обещани на Давида“. (Ис 55:3) 35 Затова и на друго място казва: „не ще дадеш на Твоя Светия да види тление“. (Пс 15:5; Д А 2:31) 36 Защото Давид, като послужи на своя род, чрез Божията воля почина и се присъедини към отците си и видя тление, (3 Цар 2:10; Д А 2:29) 37 но Онзи, Когото Бог възкреси, тление не видя. (Д А 2:31) 38 И тъй, да ви бъде знайно, мъже братя, че чрез Него ви се възвестява прошка на греховете; (Ис 53:12; Ер 31:34; Лк 24:47) 39 и от всичко, от каквото не сте могли чрез закона Моисеев да се оправдаете, чрез Него се оправдава всякой вярващ. (Рим 3:20) 40 Пазете се, прочее, да не би да дойде върху вас казаното у пророците: 41 „вижте, презрители, почудете се и изчезнете! Защото дело върша Аз във ваши дни, дело, което не бихте повярвали, ако беше ви го разказвал някой“. (Ав 1:5) 42 На излизане из иудейската синагога, езичниците ги молеха да им говорят за същото следната събота. 43 А когато събранието биде разпуснато, мнозина иудеи и благочестиви прозелити тръгнаха след Павла и Варнава, които, беседвайки с тях, убеждаваха ги да пребъдват в Божията благодат. (Д А 11:23) 44 На следната събота току-речи целият град се събра да чуе словото Божие. 45 Но иудеите, като видяха множеството, изпълниха се със завист и противоречеха на това, що говореше Павел, като възразяваха и хулеха. 46 Тогава Павел и Варнава казаха с дръзновение: първом вам трябваше да бъде проповядвано словото Божие, но понеже го отхвърляте и намирате сами себе си недостойни за вечен живот, ето, обръщаме се към езичниците. (Вт 32:21; Д А 3:26; Д А 4:29; Д А 18:6) 47 Защото Господ тъй ни заповяда: „поставих Те за светлина на езичниците, да бъдеш за спасение до край-земя“ (Ис 42:6; Ис 49:6; Лк 2:32) 48 Езичниците, като слушаха това, радваха се и прославяха словото Господне и повярваха всички, които бяха отредени за вечен живот. 49 И словото Господне се разпространяваше по цялата страна. 50 Но иудеите, като подбудиха набожните и почетни жени и градските първенци, подигнаха гонение против Павла и Варнава и ги прогониха из своите предели. (2 Тим 3:11) 51 Те отърсиха праха от нозете си срещу тях и отидоха в Икония. (Мт 10:14; Мк 6:11; Лк 9:5) 52 А учениците се изпълняха с радост и с Дух Светий.

1 Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger,[1] Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. (Лк 3:1; Д А 11:22; Д А 11:27; Д А 15:32; Д А 19:6; Д А 21:9; Рим 12:6; 1 Кор 12:28) 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” (Д А 8:29; Д А 9:15; Д А 20:28; Рим 1:1; Гал 1:15) 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. (Д А 6:6; Д А 14:26) 4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. (Д А 13:2; Д А 16:6) 5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them. (Мт 7:15; Д А 8:9; Д А 8:11) 7 He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. (Д А 13:8; Д А 13:12; Д А 18:12; Д А 19:38) 8 But Elymas the magician (for that is the meaning of his name) opposed them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. (Изх 7:11; Д А 13:6; Д А 13:7; Д А 13:12; 2 Тим 3:8) 9 But Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him (Д А 4:8) 10 and said, “You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? (Ос 14:9; Мих 3:9; Мт 13:38; Д А 18:14; Д А 18:25; 2 Пет 2:15) 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and unable to see the sun for a time.” Immediately mist and darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking people to lead him by the hand. And John left them and returned to Jerusalem, (Д А 12:12; Д А 13:5) 14 but they went on from Perga and came to Antioch in Pisidia. And on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down. (Д А 13:5; Д А 13:42; Д А 13:44; Д А 16:13; Д А 17:2; Д А 18:4) 15 After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent a message to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, say it.” (Мк 5:22; Лк 16:16; Д А 15:21; Евр 13:22) 16 So Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said: “Men of Israel and you who fear God, listen. (Д А 10:2; Д А 10:22; Д А 12:17; Д А 13:26) 17 The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm he led them out of it. (Съд 2:16; Съд 3:9; Д А 3:24) 21 Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. No, but behold, after me one is coming, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’ (Мт 3:11; Мк 1:7; Лк 3:16; Йн 1:20; Йн 1:27) 26 “Brothers, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation. (Д А 4:12; Д А 5:20; Д А 10:36; Д А 13:16; Еф 1:13) 27 For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him. (Мк 15:41; Лк 24:48; Д А 1:3; Д А 1:8; Д А 1:11; Д А 2:7) 32 And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, (Д А 26:6; Рим 4:13; Рим 9:4; Рим 15:8; Гал 3:16) 33 this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm, “‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you.’ (Пс 2:7; Лк 1:69; Д А 13:23; Евр 1:5; Евр 5:5) 34 And as for the fact that he raised him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way, “‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.’ (Ис 55:3; Д А 13:35; Рим 6:9; Евр 9:25) 35 Therefore he says also in another psalm, “‘You will not let your Holy One see corruption.’ (Пс 16:10; Д А 2:27) 36 For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption, (Съд 2:10; 2 Цар 7:12; 3 Цар 2:10; Д А 2:29; Д А 13:22; Д А 20:27) 37 but he whom God raised up did not see corruption. (Д А 13:30) 38 Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, (Лк 24:47; Д А 5:31; 1 Йн 2:12) 39 and by him everyone who believes is freed[3] from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses. (Д А 10:43; Рим 2:13; Рим 3:20; Рим 3:28; Рим 8:3; Гал 2:16; Гал 3:11; Еф 2:9; 2 Тим 1:9; Тит 3:5; Евр 7:19) 40 Beware, therefore, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about: 41 “‘Look, you scoffers, be astounded and perish; for I am doing a work in your days, a work that you will not believe, even if one tells it to you.’” (Ис 29:14; Ав 1:5) 42 As they went out, the people begged that these things might be told them the next Sabbath. 43 And after the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who, as they spoke with them, urged them to continue in the grace of God. (Д А 5:17; Д А 18:6; Д А 19:9; Д А 26:11; 1 Сол 2:16; 1 Тим 1:20) 46 And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. (Мт 21:43; Мт 22:8; Д А 3:26; Д А 9:15; Д А 13:5; Д А 13:14; Д А 18:6; Д А 22:21; Д А 26:17; Д А 26:20; Д А 28:28) 47 For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” (Ис 42:6; Ис 45:22; Ис 49:6; Лк 2:32; Д А 1:8; Д А 11:18; Д А 13:26) 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. (2 Сол 1:12) 49 And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region. 50 But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district.
