1 Ježíš pak odšel na horu Olivetskou. 2 Potom na úsvitě zase přišel do chrámu, a všecken lid sšel se k němu. A on posadiv se, učil je. 3 I přivedli k němu zákoníci a farizeové ženu v cizoložstvu popadenou; a postavivše ji v prostředku, 4 Řekli jemu: Mistře, tato žena jest postižena při skutku, když cizoložila. 5 A v Zákoně Mojžíš přikázal nám takové kamenovati. Ty pak co pravíš? 6 A to řekli, pokoušejíce ho, aby jej mohli obžalovati. Ježíš pak skloniv se dolů, prstem psal na zemi. 7 A když se nepřestávali otazovati jeho, zdvihl se a řekl jim: Kdo jest z vás bez hříchu, nejprv hoď na ni kamenem. 8 A opět schýliv se, psal na zemi. 9 A oni uslyševše to a v svědomích svých obviněni jsouce, jeden po druhém odcházeli, počavše od starších až do posledních. I zůstal tu Ježíš sám, a žena uprostřed stojeci. 10 A pozdvih se Ježíš a žádného neviděv, než ženu, řekl jí: Ženo, kde jsou ti, kteříž na tebe žalovali? Žádný-li tě neodsoudil? 11 Kterážto řekla: Žádný, Pane. I řekl jí Ježíš: Aniž já tebe odsuzuji. Jdiž a nehřeš více. 12 Tedy Ježíš opět jim mluvil, řka: Já jsem Světlo světa. Kdož mne následuje, nebudeť choditi v temnostech, ale budeť míti Světlo života. 13 I řekli jemu farizeové: Ty sám o sobě svědectví vydáváš, svědectví tvé není pravé. 14 Odpověděl Ježíš a řekl jim: Ačkoli já svědectví vydávám sám o sobě, však pravé jest svědectví mé; nebo vím, odkud jsem přišel a kam jdu. Ale vy nevíte, odkud jsem přišel, anebo kam jdu. 15 Vy podle těla soudíte, já nesoudím žádného. 16 A bychť pak i soudil já, soud můj jestiť pravý; nebo nejsem sám, ale jsem já a ten, kterýž mne poslal, Otec. 17 A v Zákoně vašem psáno jest: Že dvou člověků svědectví pravé jest. 18 Jáť svědectví vydávám sám o sobě, a svědectví vydává o mně ten, kterýž mne poslal, Otec. 19 Tedy řekli jemu: Kdež jest ten tvůj Otec? Odpověděl Ježíš: Aniž mne znáte, ani Otce mého. Kdybyste mne znali, i Otce mého znali byste. 20 Tato slova mluvil Ježíš u pokladnice, uče v chrámě, a žádný ho nejal, nebo ještě byla nepřišla hodina jeho. 21 I řekl jim opět Ježíš: Já jdu, a hledati budete mne, a v hříchu vašem zemřete. Kam já jdu, vy nemůžete přijíti. 22 I pravili Židé: Zdali se sám zabije, že praví: Kam já jdu, vy nemůžete přijíti? 23 I řekl jim: Vy z důlu jste, já s hůry jsem. Vy jste z tohoto světa, já nejsem z světa tohoto. 24 Protož jsem řekl vám: Že zemřete v hříších svých. Nebo jestliže nebudete věřiti, že já jsem, zemřete v hříších vašich. 25 I řekli jemu: Kdo jsi ty? I řekl jim Ježíš: To, což hned s počátku pravím vám. 26 Mnohoť mám o vás mluviti a souditi, ale ten, kterýž mne poslal, pravdomluvný jest, a já, což jsem slyšel od něho, to mluvím na světě. 27 A oni neporozuměli, že by o Bohu Otci pravil jim. 28 Protož řekl jim Ježíš: Když povýšíte Syna člověka, tehdy poznáte, že já jsem. A sám od sebe nic nečiním, ale jakž mne naučil Otec můj, takť mluvím. 29 A ten, kterýž mne poslal, se mnouť jest, a neopustil mne samého Otec; nebo což jest jemu libého, to já činím vždycky. 30 Ty věci když mluvil, mnozí uvěřili v něho. 31 Tedy řekl Ježíš těm Židům, kteříž uvěřili jemu: Jestliže vy zůstanete v řeči mé, právě učedlníci moji budete. 32 A poznáte pravdu, a pravda vás vysvobodí. 33 I odpověděli jemu: Símě Abrahamovo jsme, a žádnému jsme nesloužili nikdy. I kterakž ty díš: Že svobodní budete? 34 Odpověděl jim Ježíš: Amen, amen pravím vám: Že každý, kdož činí hřích, služebník jest hřícha. 35 A služebník nezůstává v domu na věky; ale Syn zůstává na věky. 36 Protož jestližeť vás vysvobodí Syn, právě svobodní budete. 37 Vím, že jste símě Abrahamovo, ale hledáte mne zabíti; nebo řeč má nemá místa u vás. 38 Já, což jsem viděl u Otce svého, to mluvím; a i vy, co jste viděli u otce vašeho, to činíte. 39 Odpověděli a řekli jemu: Otec náš jest Abraham. Dí jim Ježíš: Kdybyste synové Abrahamovi byli, činili byste skutky Abrahamovy. 40 Ale nyní hledáte mne zabíti, člověka toho, kterýž jsem pravdu mluvil vám, kterouž jsem slyšel od Boha. Tohoť jest Abraham nečinil. 41 Vy činíte skutky otce svého. I řekli jemu: Myť z smilstva nejsme zplozeni, jednohoť Otce máme, totiž Boha. 42 Tedy řekl jim Ježíš: Byť Bůh Otec váš byl, milovali byste mne. Nebo já jsem z Boha pošel, a přišel jsem; aniž jsem sám od sebe přišel, ale on mne poslal. 43 Proč mluvení mého nechápáte? Protože hned slyšeti nemůžete řeči mé. 44 Vy z otce ďábla jste, a žádosti otce vašeho chcete činiti. On byl vražedník od počátku, a v pravdě nestál; nebo pravdy v něm není. Když mluví lež, z svého vlastního mluví; nebo lhář jest a otec lži. 45 Já pak že pravdu pravím, nevěříte mi. 46 Kdo z vás bude mne obviňovati z hříchu? A poněvadž pravdu pravím, proč vy mi nevěříte? 47 Kdo z Boha jest, slova Boží slyší; protož vy neslyšíte, že z Boha nejste. 48 Tedy odpověděli Židé a řekli jemu: Zdaliž my dobře nepravíme, že jsi ty Samaritán, a ďábelství máš? 49 Odpověděl Ježíš: Jáť ďábelství nemám, ale ctím Otce svého; než vy jste mne neuctili. 50 Jáť pak nehledám chvály své; jestiť, kdo hledá a soudí. 51 Amen, amen pravím vám: Bude-li kdo zachovávati slovo mé, smrti neuzří na věky. 52 Tedy řekli mu Židé: Nyní jsme poznali, že ďábelství máš. Abraham umřel i proroci, a ty pravíš: Bude-li kdo zachovávati řeč mou, smrti neokusí na věky. 53 Zdali jsi ty větší otce našeho Abrahama, kterýž umřel? I proroci zemřeli jsou. Kým ty se činíš? 54 Odpověděl Ježíš: Chválím-liť já se sám, chvála má nic není. Jestiť kterýž mne chválí, Otec můj, o němž vy pravíte, že Bůh váš jest. 55 A nepoznali jste ho, ale já jej znám. A kdybych řekl, že ho neznám, byl bych podobný vám, lhář. Ale známť jej, a řeč jeho zachovávám. 56 Abraham, otec váš, veselil se, aby viděl den můj, i viděl, a radoval se. 57 Tedy řekli jemu Židé: Padesáti let ještě nemáš, a Abrahama jsi viděl? 58 Řekl jim Ježíš: Amen, amen pravím vám: Prve nežli Abraham byl, já jsem. 59 I zchápali Židé kamení, aby házeli na něj. Ježíš pak skryl se, a prošed skrze ně, vyšel z chrámu, a tak jich znikl.

Nikdo tě neodsoudil?“ 11 Ona řekla: „Nikdo, Pane.“ Ježíš řekl: „Ani já tě neodsuzuji. Jdi a už nehřeš!“

12 Ježíš k nim opět promluvil a řekl: „Já jsem světlo světa; kdo mě následuje, nebude chodit ve tmě, ale bude mít světlo života.“ 13 Farizeové mu řekli: „Ty vydáváš svědectví sám sobě, proto tvé svědectví není pravé.“ 14 Ježíš jim odpověděl: „I když vydávám svědectví sám sobě, moje svědectví je pravé, neboť vím, odkud jsem přišel a kam jdu. Vy nevíte, odkud přicházím a kam jdu. 15 Vy soudíte podle zdání. Já nesoudím nikoho. 16 Jestliže já přece soudím, je můj soud pravdivý, neboť nesoudím sám, ale se mnou i ten, který mě poslal. 17 I ve vašem zákoně je přece psáno, že svědectví dvou osob je pravé. 18 Jsem to já, kdo svědčí sám o sobě; a svědčí o mně také Otec, který mě poslal.“ 19 Zeptali se ho: „Kde je tvůj otec?“ Ježíš odpověděl: „Neznáte ani mě ani mého Otce. Kdybyste znali mne, znali byste i mého Otce.“ 20 Ta slova řekl v síni pokladnic, když učil v chrámě. Ale nezatkli ho, protože dosud nepřišla jeho hodina. 21 Opět jim řekl: „Já odcházím; budete mě hledat, ale umřete ve svém hříchu. Kam já jdu, tam vy přijít nemůžete.“ 22 Židé řekli: „Chce si snad vzít život, že říká: Kam já jdu, tam vy nemůžete přijít?“ 23 I řekl jim: „Vy jste zdola, já jsem shůry. Vy jste z tohoto světa, já nejsem z tohoto světa. 24 Proto jsem vám řekl, že zemřete ve svých hříších. Jestliže neuvěříte, že já to jsem, zemřete ve svých hříších.“ 25 Řekli mu: „Kdo jsi ty?“ Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Co vám od začátku říkám. 26 Mám o vás mnoho co říci, a to slova soudu; ten, který mě poslal, je pravdivý, a já oznamuji světu to, co jsem slyšel od něho.“ 27 Nepoznali, že k nim mluví o Otci. 28 Ježíš jim řekl: „Teprve až vyvýšíte Syna člověka, poznáte, že já jsem to a že sám od sebe nečiním nic, ale mluvím tak, jak mě naučil Otec. 29 Ten, který mě poslal, je se mnou; nenechal mě samotného, neboť stále dělám, co se líbí jemu.“ 30 Když takto mluvil, mnozí v něho uvěřili.

31 Ježíš řekl Židům, kteří mu uvěřili: „Zůstanete-li v mém slovu, jste opravdu mými učedníky. 32 Poznáte pravdu a pravda vás učiní svobodnými.“ 33 Odpověděli mu: „Jsme potomci Abrahamovi a nikdy jsme nikomu neotročili. Jak můžeš říkat: stanete se svobodnými?“ 34 Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Amen, amen, pravím vám, že každý, kdo hřeší, je otrokem hříchu. 35 Otrok nezůstává v domě navždy; navždy zůstává syn. 36 Když vás Syn osvobodí, budete skutečně svobodni. 37 Vím, že jste potomci Abrahamovi; ale chcete mě zabít, neboť pro mé slovo není u vás místa. 38 Já mluvím o tom, co jsem viděl u Otce; a vy děláte, co jste slyšeli od vašeho otce.“ 39 Odpověděli mu: „Náš otec je Abraham.“ Ježíš jim řekl: „Kdybyste byli děti Abrahamovy, jednali byste jako on. 40 Já jsem vám mluvil pravdu, kterou jsem slyšel od Boha, a vy mě chcete zabít. Tak Abraham nejednal. 41 Vy konáte skutky svého otce.“ Řekli mu: „Nenarodili jsme se ze smilstva, máme jednoho Otce, Boha.“ 42 Ježíš jim řekl: „Kdyby Bůh byl váš Otec, milovali byste mě, neboť jsem od Boha vyšel a od něho přicházím. Nepřišel jsem sám od sebe, ale on mě poslal. 43 Proč mou řeč nechápete? Proto, že nemůžete snést mé slovo. 44 Váš otec je ďábel a vy chcete dělat, co on žádá. On byl vrah od počátku a nestál v pravdě, poněvadž v něm pravda není. Když mluví, nemůže jinak než lhát, protože je lhář a otec lži. 45 Já mluvím pravdu, a proto mi nevěříte. 46 Kdo z vás mě usvědčí z hříchu? Mluvím-li pravdu, proč mi nevěříte? 47 Kdo je z Boha, slyší Boží řeč. Vy proto neslyšíte, že z Boha nejste.“ 48 Židé mu odpověděli: „Neřekli jsme správně, že jsi Samařan a jsi posedlý zlým duchem?“ 49 Ježíš odpověděl: „Nejsem posedlý, ale vzdávám čest svému Otci, vy však mi čest upíráte. 50 Já sám nehledám svou slávu. Jest, kdo ji pro mne hledá, a ten soudí. 51 Amen, amen, pravím vám, kdo zachovává mé slovo, nezemře navěky.“ 52 Židé mu řekli: „Teď jsme poznali, že jsi posedlý! Umřel Abraham, stejně i proroci, a ty pravíš: Kdo zachovává mé slovo, neokusí smrti navěky. 53 Jsi snad větší než náš otec Abraham, který umřel? Také proroci umřeli. Co ze sebe děláš?“ 54 Ježíš odpověděl: „Kdybych oslavoval sám sebe, má sláva by nic nebyla. Mne oslavuje můj Otec, o němž vy říkáte, že je to váš Bůh. 55 Vy jste ho nepoznali, ale já ho znám. Kdybych řekl, že ho neznám, budu lhář jako vy. Ale znám ho a jeho slovo zachovávám. 56 Váš otec Abraham zajásal, že spatří můj den; spatřil jej a zaradoval se.“ 57 Židé mu řekli: „Ještě ti není padesát, a viděl jsi Abrahama?“ 58 Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Amen, amen, pravím vám, dříve než se Abraham narodil, já jsem.“ 59 Tu se chopili kamenů a chtěli je po něm házet. Ježíš se však ukryl v zástupu a vyšel z chrámu.

Já jsem

12 Ježíš k nim pak znovu promluvil: „Já jsem světlo světa. Kdo mě následuje, nebude už chodit v temnotě, ale bude mít světlo života.“ 13 Farizeové mu namítli: „Svědčíš sám o sobě, tvé svědectví neplatí.“ 14 Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Ačkoli svědčím sám o sobě, mé svědectví platí, neboť vím, odkud jsem přišel a kam jdu. Vy však nevíte, odkud přicházím ani kam jdu. 15 Vy soudíte tělesně, já nesoudím nikoho. 16 A i kdybych soudil, můj soud je pravdivý, neboť nejsem sám, ale je se mnou Otec, který mě poslal. 17 Ve vašem Zákoně je psáno, že svědectví dvou lidí je pravé.^[1] 18 Svědčím sám o sobě a svědčí o mně Otec, který mě poslal.“ 19 Říkali mu tedy: „Kde je ten tvůj otec?“ Ježíš odpověděl: „Neznáte mě ani mého Otce. Kdybyste mě znali, znali byste i mého Otce.“ 20 Tato slova říkal u pokladnice, když učil v chrámě, ale nikdo ho nezatkl, neboť jeho chvíle ještě nepřišla. 21 Ježíš k nim znovu promluvil: „Já odcházím. Ten, který mě poslal, je ovšem pravdomluvný a já říkám světu, co jsem slyšel od něj.“ 27 Nepochopili však, že s nimi mluvil o Otci. 28 Proto jim Ježíš řekl: „Až vyzdvihnete Syna člověka, tehdy poznáte, kdo jsem. Nic nedělám sám od sebe, ale mluvím, jak mě naučil Otec. 29 Ten, který mě poslal, je se mnou. On mě nenechal samotného, neboť vždycky dělám, co se mu líbí.“ 30 A při těch slovech v něj mnozí uvěřili.

Pravda vás vysvobodí

31 Židům, kteří mu uvěřili, Ježíš řekl: „Když zůstanete v mém slově, budete opravdu mými učedníky. 32 Poznáte pravdu a pravda vás osvobodí.“ 33 „Jsme Abrahamovo símě!“ ohradili se. „Nikdy jsme nikomu neotročili. Jak můžeš říkat: ‚Budete svobodní‘?“ 34 Ježíš jim odpověděl: „Amen, amen, říkám vám, že každý, kdo hřeší, je otrokem hříchu. 35 A otrok nezůstává v domě navždy, navždy zůstává syn. 36 Když vás Syn osvobodí, budete opravdu svobodní. 37 Vím, že jste Abrahamovo símě, ale chcete mě zabít, protože mé slovo u vás nemá místo. 38 Já mluvím o tom, co jsem viděl u svého Otce; vy zase děláte, co jste slyšeli od svého otce.“ 39 „Náš otec je Abraham,“ odpověděli mu. „Kdybyste byli děti Abrahama,“ řekl jim Ježíš, „dělali byste Abrahamovy skutky. 40 Vy mě ale chcete zabít – člověka, který vám pověděl pravdu, kterou slyšel od Boha. Nepřišel jsem sám od sebe, to on mě poslal. 43 Proč nerozumíte mé řeči? Nemůžete mé slovo ani slyšet! 44 Váš otec je ďábel a vy chcete plnit touhy svého otce. Od počátku to byl vrah a nestál v pravdě, protože v něm pravda není. Když mluví lež, mluví, jak je mu vlastní, neboť je lhář a otec lži. 45 Ale protože já říkám pravdu, nevěříte mi. 46 Kdo z vás mě usvědčí z hříchu? A když říkám pravdu, proč mi nevěříte? 47 Kdo je z Boha, slyší Boží slova. Vy neslyšíte proto, že nejste z Boha.“ 48 Židé mu odpověděli: „Neříkáme správně, že jsi posedlý Samaritán?“ 49 „Nejsem posedlý,“ odpověděl Ježíš. „Jen ctím svého Otce, ale vy mnou pohrdáte. 50 Já však nehledám svoji slávu; je tu někdo jiný, který ji hledá a soudí. 51 Amen, amen, říkám vám: Kdokoli zachová mé slovo, navěky nespatří smrt.“ 52 „Teď víme jistě, že jsi posedlý!“ řekli mu Židé. „Abraham zemřel, stejně tak proroci, a ty říkáš: ‚Kdokoli zachová mé slovo, navěky nezakusí smrt.‘ 53 Jsi snad větší než náš otec Abraham? Ten zemřel! I proroci zemřeli! Koho ze sebe děláš?“ 54 Ježíš odpověděl: „Chválím-li sám sebe, má chvála nic neznamená. Ten, kdo mě chválí, je můj Otec, kterého vy nazýváte svým Bohem, 55 ale neznáte ho. Já ho znám. Kdybych řekl, že ho neznám, byl bych podobný vám, lhář. Ale znám ho a zachovávám jeho slovo. 56 Abraham se těšil, že uvidí můj den; uviděl ho a zaradoval se.“ 57 „Ještě ti není padesát let, a viděl jsi Abrahama?“ řekli mu na to Židé. 58 Ježíš odpověděl: „Amen, amen, říkám vám: Dříve než byl Abraham, já jsem.“ 59 Tehdy vzali kamení a chtěli ho ukamenovat. Ježíš se ale skryl a opustil chrám.

1 Jesus aber ging zum Ölberg. 2 Am frühen Morgen begab er sich wieder in den Tempel. Alles Volk kam zu ihm. Er setzte sich und lehrte es. (L 21,38) 3 Da brachten die Schriftgelehrten und die Pharisäer eine Frau, die beim Ehebruch ertappt worden war. Sie stellten sie in die Mitte 4 und sagten zu ihm: Meister, diese Frau wurde beim Ehebruch auf frischer Tat ertappt. 5 Mose hat uns im Gesetz vorgeschrieben, solche Frauen zu steinigen. Was sagst du? (Lv 20,10; Dt 22,22) 6 Mit diesen Worten wollten sie ihn auf die Probe stellen, um einen Grund zu haben, ihn anzuklagen. Jesus aber bückte sich und schrieb mit dem Finger auf die Erde. (Jr 17,13) 7 Als sie hartnäckig weiterfragten, richtete er sich auf und sagte zu ihnen: Wer von euch ohne Sünde ist, werfe als Erster einen Stein auf sie. (Dt 17,7; Mt 7,1; L 6,37) 8 Und er bückte sich wieder und schrieb auf die Erde. 9 Als sie das gehört hatten, ging einer nach dem anderen fort, zuerst die Ältesten. Jesus blieb allein zurück mit der Frau, die noch in der Mitte stand. 10 Er richtete sich auf und sagte zu ihr: Frau, wo sind sie geblieben? Hat dich keiner verurteilt? 11 Sie antwortete: Keiner, Herr. Da sagte Jesus zu ihr: Auch ich verurteile dich nicht. Geh und sündige von jetzt an nicht mehr! (J 5,14)

Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. 53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? 54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
