1Když pak Abram byl v devadesáti devíti letech, ukázal se mu Hospodin, a řekl jemu: Já jsem Bůh silný všemohoucí; chodiž ustavičně přede mnou a budiž dokonalým.2A učiním smlouvu svou mezi sebou a tebou a rozmnožím tě náramně velmi.3Padl pak Abram na tvář svou; i mluvil Bůh s ním, řka:4Jáť jsem, aj, smlouva má s tebou, a budeš otcem národů mnohých.5Aniž více slouti bude jméno tvé Abram, ale bude jméno tvé Abraham; nebo otcem mnohých národů učinil jsem tě.6A učiním, abys se rozplodil náramně velmi, a rozšířím tě v národy; i králové z tebe vyjdou.7Utvrdím také smlouvu svou mezi sebou a tebou, i mezi semenem tvým po tobě, po rodech jejich, za smlouvu věčnou, totiž abych byl Bohem tvým i semene tvého po tobě.8Nadto dám tobě i semeni tvému po tobě zemi, v nížto obýváš pohostinu, všecku zemi Kananejskou k vládařství věčnému; a budu jejich Bohem.9Řekl ještě Bůh Abrahamovi: Ty pak ostříhati budeš smlouvy mé, ty i símě tvé po tobě, po rodech svých.10Tatoť jest smlouva má mezi mnou a mezi vámi, i mezi semenem tvým po tobě, kteréž ostříhati budete: Aby obřezán byl mezi vámi každý pohlaví mužského.11Obřežete pak tělo hanby své; a to bude znamením smlouvy mezi mnou a mezi vámi.12Každý tedy pohlaví mužského osmého dne obřezán bude mezi vámi po rodech vašich, doma narozený i koupený za stříbro, z kterých by koli cizozemců byl, jenž není z semene tvého.13Konečně ať jest obřezán narozený v domě tvém, i koupený za peníze tvé; a budeť smlouva má na těle vašem za smlouvu věčnou.14Neobřezaný pak pacholík, kterýž by neobřezal těla neobřízky své, vyhlazena zajisté bude duše ta z lidu svého; nebo smlouvu mou zrušil.15Řekl také Bůh Abrahamovi: Sarai manželce své nebudeš říkati Sarai, ale Sára bude jméno její.16Nebo požehnám jí a dámť z ní syna; požehnámť jí, a bude v národy; králové národů z ní vyjdou.17Tedy padl Abraham na tvář svou, a zasmáv se, řekl v srdci svém: Zdali stoletému narodí se syn? A zdali Sára v devadesáti letech porodí?18I řekl Abraham Bohu: Ó byť jen Izmael živ byl před tebou!19Jemužto řekl Bůh: Nýbrž Sára manželka tvá porodí tobě syna, a nazůveš jméno jeho Izák; i utvrdím smlouvu svou s ním za smlouvu věčnou, i s semenem jeho po něm.20Také o Izmaele uslyšel jsem tě; a aj, požehnám jemu, a učiním to, aby se rozplodil, a rozmnožím ho náramně velmi; dvanáctero knížat zplodí, a rozšířím jej v národ veliký.21Ale smlouvu svou utvrdím s Izákem, kteréhožť porodí Sára po roce, při tomto času.22A když dokonal Bůh řeč svou s ním, vstoupil od Abrahama.23Vzal tedy Abraham Izmaele syna svého, i všecky zrozené v domě svém, i všecky koupené za stříbro své, každého, kdož byl pohlaví mužského, z domácích svých, a obřezal tělo neobřízky jejich hned v ten den, jakž s ním Bůh mluvil.24A byl Abraham v devadesáti devíti letech, když obřezáno bylo tělo neobřízky jeho.25Izmael pak syn jeho byl v třinácti letech, když obřezáno bylo tělo neobřízky jeho.26Jednoho a téhož dne obřezáni jsou, Abraham a Izmael syn jeho.27I všickni domácí jeho, doma zrození i za stříbro od cizozemce koupení, obřezáni jsou s ním.
— Smlouva a změna jmen - Hospodin obnovuje smlouvu s Abramem, mění jméno jemu i Sáraji, nařizuje znamení obřízky a zaslibuje syna.
1 Když bylo Abramovi devětadevadesát let, ukázal se mu Hospodin a řekl: “Já jsem Bůh všemohoucí, choď stále přede mnou, buď bezúhonný! 2 Mezi sebe a tebe kladu svou smlouvu; převelice tě rozmnožím.“ 3 Tu padl Abram na tvář a Bůh k němu mluvil: 4 “Já jsem! A toto je má smlouva s tebou: Staneš se praotcem hlučícího davu pronárodů. 5 Nebudeš se už nazývat Abram; tvé jméno bude Abraham. Určil jsem tě za otce hlučícího davu pronárodů. 6 Převelice tě rozplodím a učiním z tebe pronárody, i králové z tebe vzejdou.7 Smlouvu mezi sebou a tebou i tvým potomstvem ve všech pokoleních činím totiž smlouvou věčnou, že budu Bohem tobě i tvému potomstvu.8 A tobě i tvému potomstvu dávám do věčného vlastnictví zemi, v níž jsi hostem, tu celou zemi kenaanskou. A budu jim Bohem.“9 Bůh dále Abrahamovi řekl: „Ty i tvoje potomstvo budete mou smlouvu zachovávat ve všech pokoleních.10 Znamením mé smlouvy mezi mnou a vámi i tvým potomstvem, kterou budete zachovávat, bude toto: Každý mezi vámi, kdo je mužského pohlaví, bude obřezán.11 Dáte obřezat své neobřezané tělo a to bude znamením smlouvy mezi mnou a vámi.12 Po všechna pokolení každý, kdo je mezi vámi mužského pohlaví, bude osmého dne po narození obřezán, doma zrozený i koupený za stříbro od kteréhokoli cizince, který není z tvého potomstva.13 Musí být obřezán každý zrozený v tvém domě i koupený za stříbro. Tak bude má smlouva pro znamení na vašem těle smlouvou věčnou.14 Neobřezanec, který by nedal své neobřezané tělo obřezat, bude ze svého lidu vyobcován; porušil mou smlouvu.“ 15 Bůh také Abrahamovi řekl: „Svou ženu nebudeš už nazývat Sáraj, její jméno bude Sára (to je Kněžna).16 Požehnám ji a dám ti také z ní syna; požehnám ji a stane se matkou pronárodů a vzejdou z ní králové národů.“17 Tu padl Abraham na tvář, usmál se a v duchu si řekl: „Což se může narodit syn stoletému? Cožpak bude Sára rodit v devadesáti?“18 Proto Abraham Bohu řekl: „Kéž by Izmael žil v tvé blízkosti!“19 Bůh však pravil: „A přece ti tvá žena Sára porodí syna a nazveš ho Izák (to je Bude se smát). Svou smlouvu s ním ustavím pro jeho potomstvo jako smlouvu věčnou.20 A pokud jde o Izmaela, vyslyšel jsem tě: Hle, požehnám mu a rozplodím a rozmnožím ho převelice; zplodí dvanáct knížat a učiním z něho veliký národ.21 Ale svoji smlouvu ustavím s Izákem, kterého ti porodí Sára příštího roku v tomto čase.“22 Bůh skončil rozmluvu s Abrahamem a vystoupil od něho. 23 Abraham tedy vzal svého syna Izmaela a všechny zrozené ve svém domě i všechny koupené za stříbro, všechnu svou čeleď mužského pohlaví, a obřezal jejich neobřezané tělo hned toho dne, kdy k němu Bůh promluvil.24 Abrahamovi bylo devětadevadesát let, když jeho neobřezané tělo bylo obřezáno.25 Jeho synu Izmaelovi bylo třináct let, když bylo jeho neobřezané tělo obřezáno.26 Abraham i jeho syn Izmael byli obřezáni v týž den.27 Také všechna jeho čeleď, ať doma zrození či za stříbro od cizince koupení, byli obřezáni spolu s ním.
1Když bylo Abramovi devadesát devět let, ukázal se mu Hospodin a řekl mu: „Já jsem Všemohoucí Bůh. Choď stále přede mnou a buď poctivý.2Splním svou smlouvu s tebou a nesmírně tě rozmnožím.“3Abram padl na tvář a Bůh k němu mluvil:4„Hle, já sám s tebou činím smlouvu: budeš otcem mnohých národů.5Nebudeš se už jmenovat Abram, Vznešený otec, ale Abraham, Otec množství, neboť jsem tě učinil otcem mnohých národů.6Způsobím, aby ses nesmírně rozplodil, a učiním z tebe národy – i králové z tebe vzejdou.7Potvrzuji svou smlouvu s tebou i s tvým budoucím semenem ve všech jejich pokoleních: je to věčná smlouva, že budu tvým Bohem i Bohem tvého budoucího semene.8Tobě a tvému budoucímu semeni dám zem tvého putování, celou kanaánskou zem, do věčného vlastnictví a budu jejich Bohem.“9Bůh Abrahamovi řekl: „Ty budeš zachovávat mou smlouvu – ty i tvé budoucí símě ve všech jejich pokoleních.10Toto je má smlouva s vámi a s tvým budoucím semenem, toto budete zachovávat: každý, kdo je u vás mužského pohlaví, bude obřezán.11Obřežete předkožku svého údu a to vám bude znamením smlouvy, kterou máte se mnou.12Každý, kdo je u vás mužského pohlaví, jak narozený v domě, tak koupený za peníze od kteréhokoli cizince, jenž není ze tvého semene, bude ve vašich pokoleních obřezán, když mu bude osm dní.13Musí být obřezán, ať je narozen ve tvém domě nebo koupen za tvé peníze. Tak bude má smlouva na tvém těle smlouvou věčnou.14Neobřezanec mužského pohlaví, jenž by si nenechal předkožku obřezat, bude vyobcován ze svého lidu, neboť porušil mou smlouvu.“15Bůh Abrahamovi řekl: „Své manželce Saraj už nebudeš říkat Saraj, Bojovnice, ale bude se jmenovat Sára, Kněžna.16Požehnám ji a dám ti z ní syna. Požehnám ji a budou z ní národy, vzejdou z ní králové národů.“17Abraham padl na tvář, zasmál se a pomyslel si: „Copak se stoletému narodí syn? Copak Sára v devadesáti letech porodí?“18Odpověděl tedy Bohu: „Kéž je před tebou živ aspoň Izmael!“19Bůh však řekl: „Nikoli! Tvá manželka Sára ti vskutku porodí syna a dáš mu jméno Izák, Smíšek. Jemu potvrdím svou smlouvu, aby byla věčnou smlouvou pro jeho budoucí símě.20Vyslyšel jsem tě i ohledně Izmaele. Hle, požehnám mu a způsobím, aby se nesmírně rozplodil a rozmnožil; zplodí dvanáctero knížat a učiním z něj veliký národ.21Svou smlouvu však potvrdím Izákovi, jehož ti Sára porodí příští rok touto dobou.“22A když s ním domluvil, vznesl se Bůh od Abrahama.23Abraham potom vzal svého syna Izmaele a všechny narozené ve svém domě i všechny koupené za peníze, všechny, kdo byli v Abrahamově domácnosti mužského pohlaví, a ještě téhož dne jim obřezal předkožky, jak mu to řekl Bůh.24Abrahamovo neobřezané tělo bylo obřezáno, když mu bylo devadesát devět let.25Neobřezané tělo jeho syna Izmaele bylo obřezáno, když mu bylo třináct let.26Abraham a jeho syn Izmael byli obřezáni ještě téhož dne27a všichni jeho domácí, jak narození v domě, tak koupení od cizince za peníze, byli obřezáni s ním.

Das soll geschehen zum Zeichen des Bundes zwischen mir und euch.12Alle männlichen Kinder bei euch müssen, sobald sie acht Tage alt sind, beschnitten werden in jeder eurer Generationen, seien sie im Haus geboren oder um Geld erworben von irgendeinem Fremden, der nicht von dir abstammt. (Gn 21,4; Lv 12,3; L 1,59; L 2,21)13Beschnitten werden muss der in deinem Haus Geborene und der um Geld Erworbene. So soll mein Bund, dessen Zeichen ihr an eurem Fleisch tragt, ein ewiger Bund sein.14Ein Unbeschnittener, eine männliche Person, die am Fleisch ihrer Vorhaut nicht beschnitten ist, soll aus ihrem Stammesverband ausgemerzt werden. Er hat meinen Bund gebrochen.15Weiter sprach Gott zu Abraham: Du sollst deine Frau nicht mehr Sarai nennen: Sara, Herrin, soll ihr Name sein.16Ich will sie segnen und dir auch von ihr einen Sohn geben. Ich segne sie: Völker gehen von ihr aus; Könige von Völkern werden ihr entstammen.17Da fiel Abraham auf sein Angesicht nieder und lachte. 15And God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah[4] shall be her name.16I will bless her, and moreover, I will give[5] you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.” (Gn 18,10; Gn 35,11)17Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said to himself, “Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old?
