1 Stalo se pak ve dnech těch, že Amrafel král Sinearský, Arioch král Elasarský, Chedorlaomer král Elamitský, a Thádal král Goimský, 2 Vyzdvihli válku proti Bérovi králi Sodomskému, a proti Bersovi králi Gomorskému, a Senábovi králi Adamatskému, a Semeberovi králi Seboimskému, a králi Bélamskému, to jest Ségorskému. 3 Všickni tito sjeli se do údolí Siddim, to jest již moře solné. 4 Dvanácte let sloužili Chedorlaomerovi, třináctého pak léta zprotivili se. 5 Protož léta čtrnáctého přitáhl Chedorlaomer a králové, kteříž byli s ním, a pobili Refaimské v Astarotu Karnaimských, a Zuzimské v Cham, a Eminské na rovinách Kariataimských, 6 A Horejské na hoře jich Seir, až k rovině Fáran, kteráž leží nad pouští. 7 A vracejíce se, přitáhli k En Misfat, kteráž již jest Kádes, a pohubili všecku krajinu Amalechitského, také i Amorejského, bydlícího v Hasesontamar. 8 Protož vytáhl král Sodomský, a král Gomorský, a král Adamatský, a král Seboimský, a král Bélamský, to jest Ségorský, a sšikovali se proti nim k bitvě v údolí Siddim, 9 Proti Chedorlaomerovi králi Elamitskému, a Thádalovi králi Goimskému, a Amrafelovi králi Sinearskému, i Ariochovi králi Elasarskému, čtyři králové proti pěti. 10 (V údolí pak Siddim bylo mnoho studnic klejovatých.) I utíkajíce král Sodomský a Gomorský, padli tam; a kteří pozůstali, utekli na hory. 11 A pobravše všecko zboží Sodomských a Gomorských, a všecky potravy jich, odtáhli. 12 Vzali také Lota, a zboží jeho, syna bratra Abramova, a odjeli; nebo on bydlil v Sodomě. 13 Přišel pak jeden, kterýž byl utekl, a zvěstoval Abramovi Hebrejskému, kterýž tehdáž bydlil v rovinách Mamre Amorejského, bratra Eškolova a bratra Anerova; nebo ti měli smlouvu s Abramem. 14 Uslyšev tedy Abram, že by zajat byl bratr jeho, vypravil způsobných k boji a v domě svém zrozených služebníků tři sta a osmnácte, a honil je až k Dan. 15 A odděliv se, připadl na ně v noci, on i služebníci jeho, a porazil je; a stihal je až k Chobah, kteréž leží na levo Damašku. 16 I odjal zase všecko zboží; také i Lota bratra svého s statkem jeho zase přivedl, ano i ženy a lid. 17 Tedy vyšel král Sodomský proti němu, když se navracoval od pobití Chedorlaomera a králů, kteříž byli s ním, k údolí Sáveh, kteréž jest údolí královské. 18 Melchisedech také král Sálem, vynesl chléb a víno; a ten byl kněz Boha silného nejvyššího. 19 I požehnal mu a řekl: Požehnaný Abram Bohu silnému nejvyššímu, kterýž vládne nebem a zemí; 20 A požehnaný Bůh silný nejvyšší, kterýž dal nepřátely tvé v ruce tvé. I dal mu Abram desátky ze všech věcí. 21 Král pak Sodomský řekl Abramovi: Dej mi lid, a zboží vezmi sobě. 22 I řekl Abram králi Sodomskému: Pozdvihl jsem ruky své k Hospodinu, Bohu silnému nejvyššímu, kterýž vládne nebem i zemí, 23 Že nevezmu od niti až do řeménka obuvi ze všech věcí, kteréž jsou tvé, abys neřekl: Já jsem obohatil Abrama, 24 Kromě toliko toho, což snědli bojovníci, a dílu mužů, kteříž se mnou šli, totiž Aner, Eškol a Mamre; oni nechať vezmou díl svůj.

— Bitvy králů a vítězství Abramovo - Čtyři mocnáři trestají pět odbojných králů a zajmou i Lota. Abram ho vysvobodí a obdrží požehnání od Malkísedeka.

Král sodomský a gomorský se do nich při útěku propadli. Ti, kteří zůstali, utekli do hor. 11 Útočníci pak pobrali všechno jmění Sodomy a Gomory i všechny potraviny a odtáhli. 12 Vzali s sebou též Abramova synovce Lota s jeho jměním, sídlil totiž v Sodomě, a odtáhli. 13 Tu přišel uprchlík a pověděl o tom Hebreji Abramovi, který bydlel při božišti Emorejce Mamreho, bratra Eškólova a bratra Anérova; ti byli s Abramem spjati smlouvou. 14 Když Abram uslyšel, že jeho bratr byl zajat, vytrhl se svými třemi sty osmnácti zasvěcenci, zrozenými v jeho domě, a sledoval útočníky až k Danu. 15 V noci se pak proti nim se svými služebníky rozestavil a pobíjel je a pronásledoval až po Chóbu, jež je na sever od Damašku. 16 Všechno jmění přinesl zpět a nazpět přivedl též svého bratra Lota s jeho jměním, i ženy a lid. 17 Když se vracel po vítězství nad Kedorlaómerem a nad králi, kteří stáli na jeho straně, vyšel mu vstříc král sodomský k dolině Šáve, což je Dolina královská. 18 A šálemský král Malkísedek přinesl chléb a víno; byl totiž knězem Boha nejvyššího. 19 Požehnal mu: „Požehnán buď Abram Bohu nejvyššímu, jemuž patří nebesa i země. 20 Požehnán buď sám Bůh nejvyšší, jenž ti vydal do rukou tvé protivníky.“ Tehdy mu dal Abram desátek ze všeho. 21 Pak řekl Abramovi král Sodomy: „Dej mi lidi, a jmění si nech.“ 22 Abram však sodomskému králi odvětil: „Pozdvihl jsem ruku k přísaze Hospodinu, Bohu nejvyššímu, jemuž patří nebesa i země, 23 že z ničeho, co je tvé, nevezmu nitku ani řemínek k opánkům, abys neřekl: ‚Já jsem učinil Abrama bohatým.‘ 24 Sám nechci nic, jen to, co snědla družina, a podíl pro muže, kteří šli se mnou; Anér, Eškól a Mamre, ti ať vezmou svůj podíl.“

Sodomský a gomorský král do nich při útěku zapadli; ostatní utekli do hor. 11 Vítězové pobrali všechen majetek Sodomy a Gomory i všechny jejich potraviny a odtáhli. 12 Vzali také Abramova synovce Lota (neboť bydlel v Sodomě) i jeho majetek a odjeli. 13 Jeden uprchlík přišel a vyprávěl to Hebreji Abramovi. Ten se mezitím usadil u háje Emorejce Mamreho, příbuzného Eškola a Anera, což byli Abramovi spojenci. 14 Když Abram uslyšel, že jeho příbuzný byl zajat, vypravil 318 vycvičených služebníků, narozených v jeho domě, a sledoval ty krále až k Danu. 15 Abram a jeho služebníci se rozdělili, v noci je přepadli a pronásledovali je až k Chobě (jež leží na sever od Damašku). 16 A tak dobyl zpět všechen majetek. Přivedl i svého příbuzného Lota a jeho majetek a také ženy a lid.

Melchisedech

17 Když se pak vracel od porážky Kedor-laomera a králů, kteří byli s ním, vyšel mu král Sodomy naproti do údolí Šave (což je Královské údolí). 18 Melchisedech, král Sálemu, který byl knězem Nejvyššího Boha, přinesl chléb a víno 19 a požehnal mu těmito slovy: „Požehnán buď Abram od Nejvyššího Boha, Stvořitele nebe i země! 20 Požehnán buď Nejvyšší Bůh, jenž ti tvé nepřátele vydal do rukou!“ Abram mu tehdy ze všeho dal desátek. 21 Král Sodomy mu řekl: „Dej mi lidi. Majetek si nech.“ 22 Abram mu ale odpověděl: „Přísahám před Hospodinem, Nejvyšším Bohem, Stvořitelem nebe i země, 23 že ze všeho, co ti patří, si nevezmu nic – ani nitku, ani sandálový řemínek – abys neřekl: ‚Já jsem obohatil Abrama.‘ 24 Nechám si jen to, co snědli služebníci, a podíl mužů, kteří šli se mnou. Aner, Eškol a Mamre si vezmou svůj podíl.“

15 And he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and defeated them and pursued them to Hobah, north of Damascus. 16 Then he brought back all the possessions, and also brought back his kinsman Lot with his possessions, and the women and the people. (Gn 14,11)

17 After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley). 23 that I would not take a thread or a sandal strap or anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’ (Est 9,15) 24 I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me. Let Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share.” (Gn 14,13)

And he gave him tithes of all. 21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. 22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, 23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich: 24 Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
