1 Byl pak, když se navrátil David a muži jeho do Sicelechu, den třetí, jakž Amalechitští byli vpád učinili k straně polední i k Sicelechu, a vyhubili Sicelech, a vypálili jej. 2 A zajali ženy, kteréž byly v něm. Nezabili žadného, ani malého ani velikého, ale szajímali a odešli cestou svou. 3 A když přišel David a muži jeho k městu, aj, vypáleno bylo ohněm, a ženy jejich, též synové a dcery jejich zajati byli. 4 Tedy David i lid jeho, kterýž s ním byl, pozdvihše hlasu svého, plakali, až již více plakati nemohli. 5 Obě také manželky Davidovy zajaty jsou, Achinoam Jezreelitská, a Abigail žena někdy Nábale Karmelského. 6 I ssoužen jest David náramně, nebo se smlouval lid, aby ho ukamenovali, (hořkostí zajisté naplněna byla duše všeho lidu, jednoho každého pro syny jeho a pro dcery jeho). Však posilnil se David v Hospodinu Bohu svém. 7 I řekl David Abiatarovi knězi, synu Achimelechovu: Medle, vezmi na sebe efod. I vzal Abiatar efod pro Davida. 8 Tázal se pak David Hospodina, řka: Mám-li honiti lotříky ty? A dohoním-li se jich? I řekl jemu: Hoň, nebo se jich jistě dohoníš, a své mocně vysvobodíš. 9 A tak odšed David sám i těch šest set mužů, kteříž byli s ním, přišli až ku potoku Bezor; někteří pak tu pozůstali. 10 I honil je David se čtyřmi sty mužů; nebo bylo pozůstalo dvě stě mužů, kteříž ustavše, nemohli přejíti potoka Bezor. 11 A nalezše muže Egyptského v poli, přivedli jej k Davidovi. I dali jemu chleba, aby pojedl; dali jemu také i vody píti. 12 Dali jemu též kus hrudy fíků a dva hrozny suché. A tak pojedl a okřál zase, (nebo byl nic nejedl ani nepil tři dni a tři noci). 13 Zatím řekl jemu David: Čí jsi ty? A odkud jsi? Kterýž odpověděl: Rodem jsem z Egypta, služebník muže Amalechitského, a opustil mne pán můj, proto že jsem stonal, dnes třetí den. 14 Byli jsme zajisté vpád učinili k straně polední Ceretejského, a v tu stranu, kteráž jest Judova, a ku poledni, kteráž jest Kálefova, a Sicelech jsme vypálili ohněm. 15 Tedy řekl jemu David: Mohl-li bys dovésti mne k těm lotříkům? Kterýž řekl: Přisáhni mi skrze Boha, že mne nezabiješ, a že mne nevydáš v ruku pána mého, a přivedu tě na ty lotříky. 16 I přivedl ho. (A aj, byli se rozprostřeli po vší té zemi, jedouce a pijíce a provyskujíce nade všemi kořistmi tak velikými, kteréž pobrali z země Filistinské a z země Judovy.) 17 Protož bil je David od večera až do večera druhého dne, aniž kdo z nich ušel, kromě čtyř set mládenců, kteříž vsedše na velbloudy, utekli. 18 A tak odjal David všecko, což byli pobrali Amalechitští; také obě ženy své vysvobodil David. 19 A nezhynulo jim nic, ani malého ani velikého, i z synů i ze dcer, i z loupeže a ze všeho, což jim vzato bylo; všecko zase David přivedl. 20 Nadto szajímal David všecka stáda bravů i skotů, kteráž hnali před dobytkem svým, a pravili: Totoť jsou kořisti Davidovy. 21 Přišel pak David k těm dvěma stům mužů, kteříž byli ustali, tak že nemohli jíti za Davidem, jimž byli kázali zůstati při potoku Bezor; tedy vyšli vstříc Davidovi a lidu, kterýž byl s ním. A přistoupiv David k tomu lidu, pozdravil jich přátelsky. 22 Ale všickni, což jich koli bylo zlých a bezbožných mezi těmi muži, kteříž chodili s Davidem, mluvili, řkouce: Poněvadž nešli s námi, nedáme jim z kořistí, kteréž jsme odjali, toliko každému manželku jeho a syny jeho, aby vezmouce je, odešli. 23 David pak řekl: Nečiňte tak, bratří moji, s tím, což nám dal Hospodin, kterýž nás ostříhal a dal vojsko, jenž vytáhlo proti nám, v ruku naši. 24 A kdož vás uposlechne v té věci? Nebo jakýž bude díl toho, kterýž vyšel k bitvě, takovýž bude díl i toho, kterýž hlídal břemen; rovně se děliti budou. 25 A tak bývalo od toho dne i potom, nebo to za právo a obyčej uložil v Izraeli až do tohoto dne. 26 A když přišel David do Sicelechu, poslal z těch kořistí starším Juda, přátelům svým, řka: Teď máte dar z loupeží nepřátel Hospodinových. 27 Těm, kteříž byli v Bethel, a kteříž v Rámat ku poledni, a kteříž byli v Jeter; 28 Též kteříž v Aroer, a kteříž v Sefama, a kteříž v Estemo; 29 A kteříž v Rachal, a kteříž v městech Jerachmeelových, a kteříž v městech Cinejského; 30 I těm, kteříž v Horma, a kteříž v Korasan, a kteříž v Atach; 31 A kteříž byli v Hebronu, i po všech místech, na nichž býval David s lidem svým.

1 David právě dorazil se svými muži třetího dne do Siklagu, poté co Amálekovci vpadli do Negebu, k Siklagu. Dobyli Siklagu a vypálili jej. 2 Ženy, mladé i staré, které v něm byly, zajali. Nikoho neusmrtili. Odvedli je a šli svou cestou. 3 Když přišel David se svými muži k městu, viděl, že je vypáleno a že jejich ženy, synové a dcery jsou zajati. 4 David i všechen lid, který byl s ním, se dali do hlasitého pláče a plakali až do úplného vysílení. 5 Zajaty byly také obě Davidovy ženy, Achínoam Jizreelská a Abígajil, žena po Nábalovi Karmelském. 6 Davidovi bylo velmi úzko. Lid se domlouval, že ho ukamenuje. Všechen lid byl totiž rozhořčen, každý pro své syny a dcery. David však našel posilu v Hospodinu, svém Bohu. 7 David řekl knězi Ebjátarovi, synu Achímelekovu: „Přines mi efód!“ Ebjátar Davidovi efód přinesl. 8 David se doptával Hospodina: „Mám pronásledovat tu hordu? Dostihnu ji?“ On mu řekl: „Pronásleduj! Jistě dostihneš a jistě všechny vysvobodíš.“ 9 David tedy vytáhl se šesti sty muži, které měl při sobě, a došli až k Besórskému úvalu, kde někteří zůstali. 10 David pronásledoval nepřítele se čtyřmi sty muži; dvě stě mužů tam zůstalo, protože byli na smrt zemdleni a nemohli už Besórský úval přejít. 11 Na poli našli nějakého Egypťana a vzali ho k Davidovi. Dali mu najíst chleba a napít vody. 12 Dali mu též pletenec sušených fíků a dva sušené hrozny. Jedl a okřál na duchu, neboť tři dny a tři noci nejedl chléb a nenapil se vody. 13 David se ho zeptal: „Čí jsi a odkud jsi?“ On řekl: „Já jsem rodem Egypťan, otrok jednoho Amálekovce. Před třemi dny mě můj pán opustil, protože jsem byl nemocen. 14 Vpadli jsme do Negebu osídleného Keretejci i na území Judy, totiž do Negebu Kálebova, a vypálili jsme Siklag.“ 15 David se ho otázal: „Přivedl bys mě k té hordě?“ On řekl: „Přísahej mi při Bohu, že mě nezabiješ a že mě nevydáš mému pánu do rukou, a přivedu tě k té hordě.“ 16 Přivedl ho k nim, a hle, byli roztažení po celé zemi, jedli, pili a oslavovali všechnu tu velikou kořist, kterou pobrali v pelištejské a judské zemi. 17 David je pobíjel od ranního rozbřesku až do večera příštího dne. Nikdo z nich neunikl kromě čtyř set mladých mužů, kteří vsedli na velbloudy a ujeli. 18 Tak vysvobodil David všechno, co Amálekovci pobrali; i obě své ženy David vysvobodil. 19 Nikdo z nich nechyběl, mladí ani staří, synové ani dcery, kořist ani cokoli jim pobrali. Všechno David získal zpět. 20 David také pobral všechen brav a skot. Hnali před ním to stádo a říkali: „To je Davidova kořist.“ 21 Tak došel David ke dvěma stům mužů, kteří byli na smrt zemdleni a nemohli jít za Davidem a které zanechali v Besórském úvalu. Vyšli vstříc Davidovi a lidu, který byl s ním. David přistoupil k lidu a popřál jim pokoj. 22 Tu se mezi těmi muži, kteří šli s Davidem, ozvali všichni zlí a ničemové: „Protože s námi nešli, nedostanou nic z kořisti, kterou jsme získali. Ať si každý pouze odvede svou ženu a děti a ať jdou!“ 23 Ale David řekl: „Nenakládejte tak, moji bratři, s tím, co nám dal Hospodin. Ochraňoval nás a vydal nám do rukou tu hordu, která na nás přitrhla. 24 Kdopak vás v této věci uposlechne? Podíl toho, jenž vyšel do boje, bude stejný jako podíl toho, jenž zůstal u výstroje; dostanou stejný díl.“ 25 Tak tomu bylo od onoho dne i nadále. Ustanovil to jako nařízení a řád pro Izraele, platný podnes. 26 Když David dorazil do Siklagu, rozeslal podíly z kořisti starším judským, svým přátelům, se vzkazem: „To je pro vás dar z kořisti získané na Hospodinových nepřátelích.“ 27 Poslal jej starším do Bét-elu, do Rámotu v Negebu, do Jatíru, 28 do Aróeru, do Sifmótu, do Eštemóy, 29 do Rákalu, do měst Jerachmeelovců, do měst Kénijců, 30 do Chormy, do Bór-ašanu, do Ataku, 31 do Chebrónu a na všechna místa, kam David se svými muži chodíval.

Nikoho nezabili, ale odvedli je s sebou pryč. 3 Když David se svými muži dorazil do města, hle – bylo vypálené a jejich ženy, synové i dcery odvlečeni do zajetí! 4 David i jeho muži se dali do hlasitého pláče, až už neměli sílu plakat dál. 5 Byly zajaty i obě Davidovy ženy, Achinoam Jizreelská a Abigail, vdova po Nábalovi Karmelském. 6 David byl tehdy v úzkých, protože muži začali mluvit o tom, že ho ukamenují. Všichni byli rozhořčení, každý kvůli svým synům a dcerám. David ale našel sílu v Hospodinu, svém Bohu. 7 Potom David požádal kněze Abiatara, syna Achimelechova: „Přines mi sem efod.“^[1] A když k němu Abiatar přinesl efod, 8 David se ptal Hospodina: „Mám tu hordu pronásledovat? Když přišel k potoku Besor, část jich tam zůstala. 10 David pak pokračoval v pronásledování se čtyřmi sty muži; dvě stě jich zůstalo u potoka Besor, protože byli příliš vyčerpáni, než aby šli dál. 11 Našli venku jakéhosi Egypťana a vzali ho k Davidovi. Dali mu něco k jídlu, vodu k pití, 12 hroudu fíků a dva trsy rozinek. Když se najedl, pookřál, protože už tři dny a tři noci nic nejedl a nepil. 13 „Ke komu patříš?“ ptal se ho David. „Odkud jsi?“ „Jsem Egypťan, otrok jednoho Amalekovce,“ odpověděl mladík. „Můj pán mě tu před třemi dny nechal, protože jsem byl nemocný. 14 Podnikli jsme nájezd do Negevu Kréťanů a také do Negevu Kálebova na judském území. Ciklag jsme vypálili.“ 15 „Můžeš mě k té hordě dovést?“ zeptal se ho David. Odpověděl: „Přísahej mi při Bohu, že mě nezabiješ a nevydáš mě do rukou mého pána, a já tě k nim dovedu.“ 16 Dovedl ho tedy k nim a hle – roztáhli se všude po zemi, jedli, pili a slavili, že ve filištínské a judské zemi pobrali takovou spoustu kořisti. 17 David je pobíjel od ranního šera až do večera druhého dne a nikdo z nich neunikl kromě čtyř set mladíků, kteří nasedli na velbloudy a uprchli. 18 Tak David dobyl zpět všechno, co Amalekovci pobrali, a osvobodil i obě své ženy. 19 Neztratili nikoho, mladé ani staré, syny ani dcery, nic z kořisti a ze všeho, co jim vzali. David to všechno získal zpět. 20 Pobral také všechen brav a skot. Hnali to stádo před sebou se slovy: „To je Davidova kořist.“ 21 Tak David dorazil k těm dvěma stům mužů, kteří zůstali u potoka Besor, protože byli příliš vyčerpáni, než aby šli dál s Davidem. Vyšli Davidovi a jeho mužům naproti, David k nim přistoupil a pozdravil je. 22 Mezi muži, kteří šli s Davidem, se ale ozvali všichni zlí a ničemní: „Tihle s námi přece nešli! Nedáme jim nic z kořisti, kterou jsme získali. Ať si každý vezme svou ženu a děti a jdou!“ 23 David ale prohlásil: „Bratři, takhle nejednejte s tím, co nám dal Hospodin. On sám nás ochránil a tu hordu, co nás napadla, nám vydal do rukou. 24 Kdo by s tou vaší řečí souhlasil? Podíl toho, kdo zůstal u zásob, bude stejný jako podíl toho, kdo šel do bitvy. Všichni se rozdělíme.“ 25 A tak to od toho dne až dodnes v Izraeli platí jako závazné ustanovení. 26 Když se David vrátil do Ciklagu, poslal něco z té kořisti judským stařešinům, svým přátelům. Vzkázal jim: „Zde je dar pro vás z kořisti od Hospodinových nepřátel.“ 27 A rozeslal to stařešinům do Bet-elu, Rámot-negevu, Jatiru, 28 Aroeru, Sifmotu, Eštemoy, 29 Rachalu, do jerachmeelských a kenijských měst, 30 do Chormy, Bor-ašanu, Atachu, 31 Hebronu – do všech míst, kam David se svými muži chodíval.

(1S 15,5; 1S 27,6) 2 Die Frauen und was sonst in der Stadt war, Jung und Alt, hatten sie, ohne jemand zu töten, gefangen genommen und bei ihrem Abzug mit sich weggeführt. 3 Als David mit seinen Männern zur Stadt kam, sah er, dass sie niedergebrannt und die Frauen, Söhne und Töchter gefangen genommen worden waren. 4 Da brachen David und die Leute, die bei ihm waren, in lautes Weinen aus und sie weinten, bis sie keine Kraft mehr zum Weinen hatten. 5 Auch die beiden Frauen Davids, die Jesreeliterin Ahinoam und Abigajil, die Frau Nabals aus Karmel, waren gefangen genommen worden. Man trieb sie vor David her und sagte: Das ist Davids Beute.^[1] 21 David kam zu den zweihundert Mann zurück, die zu erschöpft gewesen waren, um ihm zu folgen, und die man am Bach Besor zurückgelassen hatte. Sie kamen David und seinen Leuten entgegen, und als David mit seinen Leuten herankam, fragte er sie nach ihrem Wohl. 22 Doch einige boshafte und nichtsnutzige Männer, die mit David gezogen waren, sagten: Sie sind nicht mit uns gezogen; darum wollen wir ihnen auch nichts von der Beute geben, die wir zurückgeholt haben, ausgenommen ihre Frauen und ihre Kinder. Diese sollen sie mitnehmen und gehen. (1S 10,27) 23 David aber erwiderte: So dürft ihr es mit dem, was der HERR uns gegeben hat, nicht machen, meine Brüder. Nein, der Anteil dessen, der beim Tross geblieben ist, soll genauso groß sein wie der Anteil dessen, der in den Kampf gezogen ist. Sie sollen die Beute miteinander teilen. (Nu 31,27) 25 So geschah es an jenem Tag und auch weiterhin; denn David machte es zu Gesetz und Recht in Israel und so ist es bis auf den heutigen Tag geblieben. 26 Als David dann nach Ziklag heimgekehrt war, schickte er einen Teil von der Beute an die Ältesten von Juda, die ihm nahestanden, und ließ ihnen sagen: Hier ist ein Geschenk für euch aus der Beute von den Feinden des HERRN 27 - an die Ältesten in Bet-El, in Ramat-Negeb, in Jattir, 28 in Aroër, in Sifmot, in Eschtemoa, 29 in Karmel, in den Städten der Jerachmeeliter, in den Städten der Keniter,^[2] (1S 27,10) 30 in Horma, in Bor-Aschan, in Atach 31 und in Hebron, ferner an all die Orte, wo David auf seinen Streifzügen mit seinen Männern gewesen war.

2 and taken captive the women and all^[1] who were in it, both small and great. They killed no one, but carried them off and went their way. 3 And when David and his men came to the city, they found it burned with fire, and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive. 4 Then David and the people who were with him raised their voices and wept until they had no more strength to weep. 5 David’s two wives also had been taken captive, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabal of Carmel. 15 And David said to him, “Will you take me down to this band?” And he said, “Swear to me by God that you will not kill me or deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will take you down to this band.” (1S 25,3)

David Defeats the Amalekites

16 And when he had taken him down, behold, they were spread abroad over all the land, eating and drinking and dancing, because of all the great spoil they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah. 17 And David struck them down from twilight until the evening of the next day, and not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men, who mounted camels and fled. 18 David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken, and David rescued his two wives. (1S 30,8) 19 Nothing was missing, whether small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything that had been taken. David brought back all. (1S 30,18) 20 David also captured all the flocks and herds, and the people drove the livestock before him,^[3] and said, “This is David’s spoil.” 21 Then David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow David, and who had been left at the brook Besor. And they went out to meet David and to meet the people who were with him. And when David came near to the people he greeted them. For as his share is who goes down into the battle, so shall his share be who stays by the baggage. 1 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; 2 And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way. 3 So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. 4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. 5 And David' two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. 6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. 7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech' son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David. 8 And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them , and without fail recover all . 9 So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed. 10 But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor. 11 And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water; 12 And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights. 13 And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick. 14 We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire. 15 And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company. 16 And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah. 17 And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled. 18 And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives. 19 And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all. 20 And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drave before those other cattle, and said, This is David' spoil. 21 And David came to the two hundred men, which were so faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to abide at the brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near to the people, he saluted them. 22 Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart. 23 Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the LORD hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand. 24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike. 25 And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day. 26 And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the LORD; 27 To them which were in Bethel, and to them which were in south Ramoth, and to them which were in Jattir, 28 And to them which were in Aroer, and to them which were in Siphmoth, and to them which were in Eshtemoa, 29 And to them which were in Rachal, and to them which were in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to them which were in the cities of the Kenites, 30 And to them which were in Hormah, and to them which were in Chorashan, and to them which were in Athach, 31 And to them which were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt.
