1 A tak shromáždili Filistinští všecka vojska svá u Afeku, Izrael pak položil se u studnice, kteráž byla v Jezreel. 2 I táhla knížata Filistinská po stu a po tisících, David pak a muži jeho táhli nazad s Achisem. 3 Tedy řekla knížata Filistinská: K čemu jsou Židé tito? Odpověděl Achis knížatům Filistinským: Zdaliž toto není David služebník Saule, krále Izraelského, kterýž byl při mně dnů těchto, nýbrž těchto let, a neshledal jsem na něm ničeho ode dne, jakž odpadl od Saule, až do tohoto dne? 4 I rozhněvala se na něj knížata Filistinská, a řekli jemu ta knížata Filistinská: Odešli zase muže toho, ať se navrátí k místu svému, kteréž jsi mu ukázal, a nechť netáhne s námi k boji, aby se nám nepostavil za nepřítele v bitvě. Nebo čím se zalíbiti může pánu svému tento? Zdali ne hlavami mužů těchto? 5 Zdaliž tento není ten David, o kterémž zpívali v houfích plésajících, říkajíce: Porazil Saul svůj tisíc, ale David svých deset tisíců? 6 I povolal Achis Davida, a řekl jemu: Živť jest Hospodin, že jsi upřímý, a líbí mi se vycházení tvé i vcházení tvé se mnou do vojska. Nebo neshledal jsem na tobě nic zlého ode dne, v kterýž jsi přišel ke mně, až do dne tohoto, ale před očima knížat nejsi vzácný. 7 Protož nyní navrať se a jdi v pokoji, a nebudeš těžký v očích knížat Filistinských. 8 I řekl David Achisovi: Co jsem pak učinil, a co jsi shledal na služebníku svém ode dne, v kterýž jsem počal býti u tebe, až do tohoto dne, abych nešel a nebojoval proti nepřátelům pána svého krále? 9 A odpovídaje Achis, řekl Davidovi: Vímť, že jsi vzácný před očima mýma jako anděl Boží, ale knížata Filistinská řekla: Nechť netáhne s námi k boji. 10 Nyní tedy vstaň tím raněji a služebníci pána tvého, kteříž přišli s tebou, a vstanouce tím spíše ráno, hned jakž by zasvitávalo, odejděte. 11 I vstal David, on i muži jeho, aby odšel tím raněji, a navrátil se do země Filistinské. Filistinští pak táhli do Jezreel.

Čímpak by se více svému pánu zalíbil než hlavami těchto mužů? 5 Cožpak to není David, kterého opěvovali v tanečním reji: ‚Saul pobil své tisíce, ale David své desetitisíce?‘“ 6 Akíš si zavolal Davida a řekl mu: „Jakože živ je Hospodin, ty jsi přímý a tvé vycházení a vcházení u mne v táboře se mi líbí. Neshledal jsem na tobě nic zlého ode dne, kdy jsi ke mně přišel, až dodnes. Ale nelíbíš se knížatům. 7 Vrať se tedy pokojně zpátky, aby ses nedopustil něčeho, co pelištejská knížata považují za zlé.“ 8 David Akíšovi namítl: „Čeho jsem se dopustil a co zlého jsi shledal na svém služebníku ode dne, kdy jsem se před tebou objevil, až dodnes, že nesmím jít do boje proti nepřátelům krále, svého pána?“ 9 Akíš Davidovi odpověděl: „Uznávám, v mých očích jsi dobrý jako Boží posel. Pelištejští velitelé však řekli: ‚Ať netáhne s námi do boje.‘ 10 Nyní tedy za časného jitra ty i služebníci tvého pána, kteří přišli s tebou, za časného jitra hned na úsvitě odejděte.“ 11 Tak se David spolu se svými muži vydal za časného jitra na cestu zpátky do pelištejské země, zatímco Pelištejci vystupovali do Jizreelu.

Nesmí s námi do boje

1 Filištíni shromáždili všechna svá vojska do Afeku, zatímco Izrael tábořil u pramene v Jizreelu. 2 Když filištínští vládci pochodovali se svými stovkami a tisíci, David a jeho muži pochodovali vzadu s Achišem. 3 Filištínští velitelé se ptali: „Co to tam je za Hebreje?“ „To je přece David, sluha izraelského krále Saula,“ řekl jim Achiš. „Je se mnou už nejmíň rok. Ode dne, kdy od něj odpadl, až dodnes mu nemám co vytknout.“ 4 Filištínští velitelé se ale na něj rozzlobili. „Pošli ho pryč,“ řekli mu, „ať se vrátí, kam mu řekneš. Přece s námi nepůjde do boje! Vždyť by se v bitvě postavil proti nám! Čím by se mohl svému pánu zalíbit více než hlavami těchto mužů? 5 Vždyť je to přece ten David, o kterém se při tancích zpívalo: ‚Saul pobil své tisíce, David desetkrát více!‘“ 6 Achiš si tedy Davida zavolal a řekl mu: „Jakože je živ Hospodin, jsi spolehlivý a líbí se mi, jak si v mém vojsku vedeš. Ode dne, kdy jsi ke mně přišel, až dodnes ti opravdu nemám co vytknout. Vládcům se ale nelíbíš. 7 Vrať se tedy v pokoji, abys filištínské vládce nedráždil.“ 8 „Co jsem provedl?“ odpověděl mu na to David. „Co můžeš svému služebníku vytknout ode dne, kdy jsem k tobě přišel, až dodnes? Proč nemohu jít bojovat proti nepřátelům svého krále a pána?“ 9 „Vím, jak jsi dobrý,“ řekl mu Achiš. „Pro mě jsi jako Boží anděl, ale filištínští velitelé řekli: ‚Nesmí s námi do boje!‘ 10 Proto zítra brzy vstaň – ty i sluhové tvého pána, kteří přišli s tebou – a hned za rozbřesku odejděte.“ 11 A tak se David i se svými muži hned ráno vypravil na cestu do filištínské země, zatímco Filištíni táhli na Jizreel.

(Sd 7,1; 1S 4,1) 2 Als nun die Fürsten der Philister mit ihren Hundertschaften und Tausendschaften auf dem Marsch waren - David und seine Männer zogen mit Achisch am Schluss -, (Jz 13,3; 1S 28,1) 3 fragten die Obersten der Philister: Was sollen diese Hebräer hier? Achisch antwortete den Obersten der Philister: Das ist doch David, der Knecht Sauls, des Königs von Israel, der seit Jahr und Tag bei mir ist. Seit dem Tag, da er übergelaufen ist, bis heute fand ich bei ihm nichts Nachteiliges. (1S 4,6) 4 Die Obersten der Philister aber wurden zornig auf ihn und sagten zu ihm: Schick den Mann zurück! Er soll an den Ort zurückkehren, den du ihm zugewiesen hast, und nicht mit uns in den Kampf ziehen. Dann kann er sich in der Schlacht nicht gegen uns wenden. Womit könnte er sich die Gunst seines Herrn besser erwerben als mit den Köpfen unserer Leute hier? Warum darf ich nicht mitkommen und gegen die Feinde meines Herrn, des Königs, kämpfen? 9 Achisch antwortete David: Gewiss, mir bist du teuer wie ein Engel Gottes; aber die Obersten der Philister haben gesagt: Er soll nicht mit uns in den Kampf ziehen. (2S 14,17) 10 Darum brich morgen früh auf, samt den Knechten deines Herrn, die mit dir gekommen sind! Brecht morgen früh auf, sobald es hell wird, und geht! 11 David machte sich also mit seinen Männern in aller Frühe auf den Weg; er zog noch am Morgen weg und kehrte ins Land der Philister zurück; die Philister aber zogen nach Jesreel hinauf.
