1 I stalo se za dnů těch, že Filistinští sebrali vojska svá k boji, aby bojovali s Izraelem. I řekl Achis Davidovi: Věz nepochybně, že potáhneš se mnou na vojnu, ty i muži tvoji. 2 Odpověděl David Achisovi: Teprv ty poznáš, co učiní služebník tvůj. I řekl Achis Davidovi: Touť příčinou strážným života svého tě ustanovím po všecky dny. 3 (Samuel pak již byl umřel; pročež plakal ho všecken Izrael, a pochovali jej v Ráma, totiž v městě jeho. A Saul byl vyplénil věšťce a hadače z země.) 4 Tedy shromáždivše se Filistinští, přitáhli a položili se u Sunem. Shromáždil i Saul všeho Izraele, a položili se v Gelboe. 5 Vida pak Saul vojsko Filistinské, bál se, a uleklo se srdce jeho velmi. 6 I dotazoval se Saul Hospodina, ale Hospodin neodpovídal jemu ani skrze sny, ani skrze urim, ani skrze proroky. 7 Protož řekl Saul služebníkům svým: Pohledejte mi ženy mající ducha věštího, i půjdu k ní a poradím se skrze ni. Jemuž odpověděli služebníci jeho: Aj, žena mající ducha věštího v Endor. 8 Tedy změniv Saul oděv, oblékl se v roucho jiné, a šel sám a dva muži s ním, a přišli k ženě té v noci. I řekl: Medle hádej mi skrze ducha věštího, a způsob to, ať ke mně vyjde ten, kohož bych jmenoval tobě. 9 Ale žena řekla jemu: Aj, ty víš, co učinil Saul, kterak vyhladil věšťce a hadače z země. Pročež tedy ty pokládáš osídlo duši mé, abys mne o hrdlo připravil? 10 I přisáhl jí Saul skrze Hospodina, řka: Živť jest Hospodin, že nepřijde na tě trestání pro tu věc. 11 Tedy řekla žena: Kohožť mám vyvésti? Kterýž řekl: Samuele mi vyveď. 12 A když uzřela žena Samuele, zkřikla hlasem velikým, a řekla žena Saulovi takto: Pročež jsi mne oklamal! Nebo ty jsi Saul. 13 I řekl jí král: Neboj se. Což jsi pak viděla? Odpověděla žena Saulovi: Bohy jsem viděla vystupující z země. 14 Řekl jí opět: Jaký jest způsob jeho? Odpověděla jemu: Muž starý vystupuje a jest oděný pláštěm. Tedy srozuměl Saul, že by Samuel byl, a sehnuv se tváří k zemi, poklonil se jemu. 15 I řekl Samuel Saulovi: Proč mne nepokojíš, že jsi mne zavolati rozkázal? Odpověděl Saul: Úzkostmi sevřín jsem velice; nebo Filistinští bojují proti mně, a Bůh odstoupil ode mne, a neodpovídá mi více, ani skrze proroky, ani skrze sny. Protož povolal jsem tě, abys mi oznámil, co bych měl činiti. 16 I řekl Samuel: Proč tedy se mne dotazuješ, poněvadž Hospodin odstoupil od tebe, a jest s nepřítelem tvým? 17 Učiniltě zajisté jemu Hospodin, jakož mluvil skrze mne, a odtrhl Hospodin království od ruky tvé, a dal je bližnímu tvému, Davidovi. 18 Nebo že jsi neuposlechl hlasu Hospodinova, a nevykonals hněvu prchlivosti jeho nad Amalechem, protož učinil tobě to dnes Hospodin. 19 Nadto vydá Hospodin i Izraele s tebou v ruku Filistinských, a zítra budeš ty i synové tvoji se mnou. I vojska Izraelská vydá Hospodin v ruku Filistinských. 20 I padl Saul náhle tak, jak dlouhý byl, na zem, nebo se byl ulekl náramně slov Samuelových. K tomu ani síly v něm nebylo, nebo nic nejedl celý ten den a celou tu noc. 21 Přistoupivši pak ta žena k Saulovi a uzřevši, že jest předěšen náramně, řekla jemu: Aj, uposlechla děvka tvá hlasu tvého, a opovážila jsem se života svého, že jsem uposlechla slov tvých, kteráž jsi mluvil ke mně. 22 Nyní tedy uposlechni i ty, prosím, hlasu děvky své, a položím před tebe kousek chleba, abys jedl a posilil se, a tak jíti mohl cestou svou. 23 Kterýž odepřel a řekl: Nebuduť jísti. I přinutili ho služebníci jeho, ano i ta žena, tak že uposlechl hlasu jejich, a vstav s země, sedl na lůžko. 24 Měla pak ta žena tele tučné v domě, kteréž spěšně zabila, a vzavši mouky, zadělala, a napekla z ní chlebů přesných. 25 Potom přinesla před Saule a služebníky jeho, kteříž jedli, a vstavše v touž noc, odešli.

Saulův konec - SAUL V ÉN-DÓRU - Zavržený král si dává před bitvou s Pelištejci vyvolat ducha zemřelého Samuela. Ten mu ohlašuje zánik.

1 V oněch dnech shromáždili Pelištejci své válečné šiky, aby bojovali proti Izraeli. Akíš řekl Davidovi: „Jistě víš, že potáhneš se mnou v šiku ty i tvoji muži.“ 2 David Akíšovi odvětil: „Však poznáš sám, co tvůj služebník udělá!“ Akíš na to Davidovi řekl: „Ustanovuji tě tedy svým osobním strážcem po všechny dny.“ 3 Samuel zemřel a všechen Izrael ho oplakával. Pochovali ho v Rámě, jeho městě. Saul pak vymýtil ze země vyvolávače duchů zemřelých a jasnovidce. 4 Pelištejci se shromáždili, vtrhli do země a utábořili se v Šúnemu. Saul proto shromáždil celý Izrael a utábořili se v pohoří Gilbóa. 5 Když Saul uviděl pelištejský tábor, strachy se celý roztřásl. 6 I doptával se Saul Hospodina, ale Hospodin mu neodpovídal ani skrze sny ani skrze urím ani skrze proroky. 7 Tu řekl Saul svým služebníkům: „Vyhledejte mi ženu, která vyvolává duchy zemřelých. Půjdu k ní a dotážu se jí.“ Jeho služebníci mu řekli: „Taková žena, která vyvolává duchy zemřelých, je v Én-dóru.“ 8 Saul se přestrojil, vzal si jiné šaty a šel tam spolu se dvěma muži. Přišel k té ženě v noci a řekl jí: „Věšti mi prostřednictvím ducha zemřelého. Přivolej mi, koho ti řeknu.“ 9 Žena mu odpověděla: „Však ty víš, co udělal Saul, že vyhladil ze země vyvolávače duchů zemřelých a jasnovidce. Proč mi strojíš léčku? Chceš mě vydat na smrt?“ 10 Ale Saul se jí zapřisáhl při Hospodinu: „Jakože živ je Hospodin, žádný trest tě za to nestihne.“ 11 Žena se ho zeptala: „Koho ti mám přivolat?“ Odvětil: „Přivolej mi Samuela.“ 12 Když žena Samuela viděla, hlasitě vykřikla a obrátila se na Saula: „Proč jsi mě obelstil? Vždyť ty jsi Saul!“ 13 Ale král jí řekl: „Neboj se! Co vidíš?“ Žena Saulovi odvětila: „Vidím božský zjev, jak vystupuje ze země.“ 14 Řekl jí: „Jak vypadá?“ Odpověděla: „Vystupuje starý muž, zahalený pláštěm.“ Saul poznal, že to je Samuel, padl na kolena tváří k zemi a klaněl se. 15 Samuel se Saula otázal: „Proč rušíš můj klid? Proč jsi mě dal přivolat?“ Saul řekl: „Jsem ve velkých úzkostech. Bojují proti mně Pelištejci a Bůh ode mne odstoupil. Vůbec mi neodpovídá ani prostřednictvím proroků ani skrze sny. Proto jsem zavolal tebe, abys mi oznámil, co mám dělat.“ 16 Samuel odvětil: „Proč se ptáš mne, když Hospodin od tebe odstoupil a stal se tvým protivníkem? 17 Hospodin učinil, co prohlásil skrze mne: Hospodin vytrhl království z tvé ruky a dal je tvému bližnímu, Davidovi. 18 Žes neuposlechl Hospodina a nestal se vykonavatelem jeho planoucího hněvu proti Amálekovi, za to ti dnes Hospodin udělá toto: 19 Spolu s tebou vydá Hospodin do rukou Pelištejců též Izraele. Zítra budeš ty i tvoji synové u mne. Také izraelský tábor vydá Hospodin do rukou Pelištejců.“ 20 Saul se náhle skácel, jak byl dlouhý, k zemi; tak velice se polekal Samuelových slov. Nebylo v něm síly, protože nepojedl chleba celý den a celou noc. 21 Žena přistoupila k Saulovi a viděla, jak strašně se zhrozil. Řekla mu: „Hle, tvoje otrokyně tě uposlechla. Dala jsem v sázku svůj život. Poslechla jsem tě v tom, cos mi poručil. 22 Teď zase ty prosím poslechni svou otrokyni. Předložím ti sousto chleba a pojíš, aby ses posílil, vždyť musíš pokračovat v cestě.“ 23 Ale on se zdráhal. Říkal: „Nebudu jíst.“ Jeho služebníci spolu s tou ženou však na něho naléhali a on je uposlechl. Povstal ze země a posadil se na lože. 24 Žena měla doma vykrmeného býčka. Rychle ho připravila k hodu, nabrala mouky, zadělala a napekla nekvašených chlebů. 25 Předložila to Saulovi i jeho služebníkům a oni jedli. Pak se zvedli a odešli ještě té noci.

Půjdu za ní a poradím se s ní.“ „Jedna věštkyně je tamhle v En-doru,“ odpověděli mu jeho služebníci. 8 Saul se pak v noci, přestrojen do jiných šatů, vydal se dvěma muži za onou ženou. „Věšti mi prosím skrze duchy,“ požádal ji, „a vyvolej mi, koho ti řeknu.“ 9 „Copak nevíš, co udělal Saul?“ řekla mu na to ta žena. „Vymýtil věštce a duchaře ze země! To mě chceš nachytat a připravit o život?“ 10 Saul jí ale přísahal při Hospodinu: „Jakože je živ Hospodin, žádný trest tě za to nečeká.“ 11 Nakonec se ho tedy zeptala: „Koho ti mám vyvolat?“ „Vyvolej mi Samuela,“ odpověděl. 12 Když ta žena spatřila Samuela, najednou hlasitě vykřikla: „Proč jsi mě podvedl? Vždyť ty jsi Saul!“ 13 „Neboj se,“ řekl jí král. „Co vidíš?“ „Vidím ze země vystupovat jakési božstvo,“ řekla žena. 14 „Jak vypadá?“ ptal se. „Zvedá se nějaký stařec zahalený pláštěm,“ odpověděla. Tehdy Saul poznal, že je to Samuel, padl tváří k zemi a poklonil se. 15 Samuel k Saulovi promluvil: „Proč mě rušíš? Proč jsi mě nechal vyvolat?“ „Je mi tak úzko!“ odpověděl Saul. „Filištíni proti mně bojují a Bůh se ode mě odvrátil! Vůbec mi neodpověděl – ani skrze proroky, ani skrze sny. Proto jsem tě zavolal, abys mi poradil, co mám dělat.“ 16 Samuel mu na to řekl: „Proč se ptáš mě, když se od tebe Hospodin odvrátil a stal se tvým nepřítelem? 17 Hospodin udělal, co skrze mě předpověděl: Hospodin od tebe odtrhl království a dal je tvému bližnímu, Davidovi!^[2] 18 Protože jsi neposlechl Hospodina a nevykonal jeho planoucí hněv proti Amalekovi, proto s tebou dnes Hospodin naloží takto: 19 Hospodin tě i s Izraelem vydá do rukou Filištínů! Zítra budeš ty i tví synové se mnou, neboť Hospodin vydá izraelské vojsko do rukou Filištínů.“ 20 Vtom se Saul, jak byl dlouhý, skácel k zemi. Samuelova slova ho tak vyděsila, že ho opustil zbytek sil. Celý den a noc totiž nic nejedl. 21 Když ta žena přistoupila k Saulovi a viděla, jak je vyděšený, řekla mu: „Pohleď, tvá služebnice tě poslechla. Nasadila jsem vlastní život, když jsem udělala, o cos mě žádal. 22 Teď tedy prosím vyslechni ty svou služebnici. Nabídnu ti něco k jídlu a ty se najíš, abys měl sílu. Musíš pokračovat v cestě.“ 23 On ale odmítal: „Nebudu jíst!“ Jeho služebníci i ta žena ale naléhali, až je nakonec poslechl, vstal ze země a posadil se na lůžko. 24 Žena rychle porazila vykrmené tele, které měla doma, vzala mouku, zadělala a napekla z ní nekvašené chleby. 25 Potom to nabídla Saulovi a jeho služebníkům. Pojedli, vstali a ještě té noci odešli.

Saul bei der Frau in En-Dor

3 Samuel war gestorben und ganz Israel hatte die Totenklage für ihn gehalten und ihn in seiner Stadt Rama begraben. Saul aber hatte die Totenbeschwörer und die Wahrsager aus dem Land vertrieben. (Lv 19,31; 1S 15,34; 1S 25,1) 4 Als sich die Philister gesammelt hatten, rückten sie heran und schlugen bei Schunem ihr Lager auf. Saul versammelte ganz Israel und sie schlugen ihr Lager auf dem Gilboa auf. (2Kr 4,8) 5 Als Saul das Lager der Philister sah, bekam er große Angst und sein Herz begann zu zittern. 6 Da befragte Saul den HERRN, aber der HERR gab ihm keine Antwort, weder durch Träume noch durch die Losorakel noch durch die Propheten. 9 The woman said to him, “Surely you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off the mediums and the necromancers from the land. So he arose from the earth and sat on the bed. 24 Now the woman had a fattened calf in the house, and she quickly killed it, and she took flour and kneaded it and baked unleavened bread of it, 25 and she put it before Saul and his servants, and they ate. Then they rose and went away that night.

And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. 4 And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa. 5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled. 6 And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. 7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. 8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. 9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? 10 And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. 11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. 12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. 13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. 14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. 15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. 16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? 17 And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David: 18 Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day. 19 Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines. 20 Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night. 21 And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath obeyed thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me. 22 Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way. 23 But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, compelled him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed. 24 And the woman had a fat calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it , and did bake unleavened bread thereof: 25 And she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
