1 I řekl David: Totoť jest místo domu Hospodina Boha, a toto jest místo oltáři k zápalu Izraelovi. 2 Protož přikázal David, aby shromáždili cizozemce přebývající v zemi Izraelské, a ustanovil z nich kameníky, aby tesali kamení k stavení domu Božího. 3 Železa také mnoho na hřeby, a na dvéře k branám i k spojováním, připravil David, i mědi mnoho bez váhy. 4 Též i dříví cedrového bez počtu; nebo přiváželi Sidonští a Tyrští dříví cedrového množství Davidovi. 5 Nebo řekl byl David: Šalomoun syn můj mládenček jest malý, dům pak vystaven býti má Hospodinu veliký, znamenitý a slovoutný po všech zemích, a protož připravím mu nyní potřeb. A tak připravil David množství toho před smrtí svou. 6 Potom povolav Šalomouna syna svého, přikázal mu, aby vystavěl dům Hospodinu Bohu Izraelskému. 7 A řekl David Šalomounovi: Synu můj, uložil jsem byl v srdci svém vystavěti dům jménu Hospodina Boha svého. 8 Ale stala se ke mně řeč Hospodinova, řkoucí: Mnohou jsi krev vylil, a boje veliké jsi vedl; nebudeš stavěti domu jménu mému, proto že jsi mnoho krve vylil na zem přede mnou. 9 Aj, syn narodí se tobě, tenť bude muž pokojný. Odpočinutí zajisté dám jemu vůkol přede všemi nepřátely jeho, pročež Šalomoun slouti bude; nebo pokoj a odpočinutí dám Izraelovi za dnů jeho. 10 Onť ustaví dům jménu mému, a on bude mi za syna, a já jemu za otce, a upevním trůn království jeho nad Izraelem až na věky. 11 Protož, synu můj, Hospodin bude s tebou, a šťastněť se povede, a vystavíš dům Hospodina Boha svého, jakož mluvil o tobě. 12 A však dejž tobě Hospodin rozum a moudrost, a ustanoviž tě nad Izraelem, abys ostříhal zákona Hospodina Boha svého. 13 A tehdyť se šťastně povede, když ostříhati a činiti budeš ustanovení a soudy, kteréž přikázal Hospodin skrze Mojžíše lidu Izraelskému. Dříví také i kamení připravil jsem, a k tomu ostatek přidáš. 15 Přes to máš u sebe hojně dělníků, kameníků a zedníků, i tesařů i jiných zběhlých ve všelijakém díle. 16 Zlata, stříbra, mědi a železa není počtu; snažiž se a dělej, a Hospodin budiž s tebou. 17 Přikázal také David všechněm knížatům Izraelským, aby pomáhali Šalomounovi synu jeho, řka: 18 Zdaliž Hospodin Bůh váš není s vámi, kterýž vám způsobil vůkol a vůkol odpočinutí? 2 David poručil soustředit ty, kdo pobývali v izraelské zemi jako hosté, a udělal z nich lamače, kteří připravovali kvádry pro stavbu Božího domu. 3 David také připravil mnoho železa na čepy pro křídla bran a na skoby a tak mnoho mědi, že se ani nedala zvážit. 4 Také cedrového dřeva bezpočet; to množství cedrového dřeva přiváželi Davidovi Sidóňané a Týřané. 5 David řekl: „Můj syn Šalomoun je ještě mladíček útlého věku. Buď rozhodný a udatný! Neboj se a neděs! 14 Hle, i ve svém trápení jsem pro Hospodinův dům připravil sto tisíc talentů zlata, milión talentů stříbra, mědi a železa tolik, že se ani nedá zvážit. Připravil jsem též dřevo a kámen. A ty k tomu ještě přidáš. 15 S tebou bude při díle mnoho dělníků, lamačů, kameníků a tesařů, každý, kdo je dovedný v nějakém díle. 16 Zlata, stříbra, mědi a železa je bezpočet. Dej se do práce a nechť je s tebou Hospodin!“ 17 David přikázal všem izraelským předákům, aby jeho synu Šalomounovi byli nápomocni: 18 „Což není Hospodin, váš Bůh, s vámi? Dal vám odpočinout ode všech okolních nepřátel. Vydal mi do rukou obyvatele země. Země je podmaněna Hospodinu a jeho lidu. 19 Nyní se tedy ze srdce a z duše dotazujte Hospodina, svého Boha, a dejte se do budování svatyně Boha Hospodina, abyste mohli vnést schránu Hospodinovy smlouvy a svaté Boží náčiní do domu, který bude pro Hospodinovo jméno vybudován.“

Opatřil tolik bronzu, že ani nešel zvážit; 4 cedrového dřeva nepočítaně (Sidonští a Týrští totiž Davidovi přiváželi spoustu cedrového dřeva). 5 David si řekl: „Můj syn Šalomoun je mladý a nezkušený, a ten dům, který se má vystavět Hospodinu, má být veliký, vysoký, nádherný a proslulý po všech zemích. Musím mu připravit, co bude třeba.“ Proto David ještě před smrtí vykonal mnoho příprav. 6 Potom si svého syna Šalomouna zavolal a přikázal mu, aby vystavěl dům Hospodinu, Bohu Izraele. 7 David Šalomounovi řekl: „Můj synu, měl jsem na srdci postavit dům jménu Hospodina, svého Boha. 8 Dostal jsem ale slovo Hospodinovo: ‚Prolil jsi mnoho krve a svedl mnoho bitev. Protože jsi přede mnou na zemi prolil tolik krve, nemůžeš stavět dům mému jménu. 9 Narodí se ti ale syn a ten bude mužem pokoje, neboť mu dám zakusit pokoj ode všech nepřátel kolem dokola. Bude se jmenovat Šalomoun, Pokojný, neboť za jeho dnů dám Izraeli pokoj a mír. 10 To on postaví dům mému jménu. Bude mi synem a já mu budu otcem. (2Pa 2,16) 3 Auch ließ er eine Menge Eisen für die Nägel, für die Torflügel und für die Klammern bereitstellen, dazu Bronze in einer Menge, dass sie nicht mehr gewogen werden konnte, (1Kr 7,47; 1Pa 29,2) 4 und ungezählte Zedernstämme.
