1 I stalo se, když bydlil David v domě svém, že řekl Nátanovi proroku: Aj, já přebývám v domě cedrovém, truhla pak smlouvy Hospodinovy jest pod kortýnami. 2 I řekl Nátan Davidovi: Cožkoli jest v srdci tvém, učiň; nebo Bůh s tebou jest. 3 Potom té noci stalo se slovo Boží k Nátanovi, řkoucí: 4 Jdi a rci Davidovi služebníku mému: Toto dí Hospodin: Ne ty stavěti mi budeš dům k bydlení, 5 Poněvadž jsem nebydlil v žádném domě od toho dne, jakž jsem vyvedl syny Izraelské, až do dne tohoto, ale procházel jsem se z stánku do stánku, také i vně kromě příbytku. 6 Nadto kudyž jsem koli chodil se vším Izraelem, zdali jsem slovo řekl kterému z soudců Izraelských, (jimž jsem přikázal, aby pásli lid můj), řka: Proč jste mi neustavěli domu cedrového? 7 Protož nyní toto díš služebníku mému Davidovi: Takto praví Hospodin zástupů: Já jsem tě vzal z ovčince, když jsi chodil za stádem, abys byl vývodou lidu mého Izraelského. 8 A býval jsem s tebou všudy, kamž jsi koli se obrátil, všecky také nepřátely tvé vyhladil jsem před tváří tvou, a učinilť jsem jméno veliké, jako jméno vznešených na zemi. 9 Ano i lidu svému Izraelskému způsobil jsem místo, a vštípil jej tu. I bude bydliti na místě svém, a nepohne se více, aniž na něj dotírati budou lidé nešlechetní, jako prvé, 10 Hned od toho času, jakž jsem ustanovil soudce nad lidem svým Izraelským, až jsem ponížil všech nepřátel tvých; nýbrž oznamujiť, že Hospodin sám vystaví tobě dům. 11 Nebo když se vyplní dnové tvoji, abys šel za otci svými, vzbudím símě tvé po tobě, kteréž bude z synů tvých, a utvrdím království jeho. 12 Onť mi ustaví dům, a já utvrdím trůn jeho až na věky. 13 Já budu jemu otcem, a on mi bude synem, a milosrdenství svého neodejmu od něho, jako jsem je odjal od toho, kterýž byl před tebou. 14 Ale postavím jej v domě svém a v království svém až na věky, a trůn jeho bude nepohnutelný až na věky. 15 Podlé všech slov těchto, a podlé všeho vidění tohoto, tak mluvil Nátan Davidovi. 16 Tedy všed král David, posadil se před Hospodinem, a řekl: Kdož jsem já, ó Hospodine Bože, a jaký jest dům můj, že jsi mne tak zvýšil? 17 Anobrž i to jsi za málo u sebe položil, ó Bože, pročež jsi zamluvil se o domu služebníka svého i na dlouhé časy, a popatřil jsi na mne, jako na osobu člověka vzácného, Hospodine Bože. 18 Což ještě více mluviti má David před tebou o zvelebení služebníka tvého? Ty zajisté znáš služebníka svého. 19 Hospodine, pro služebníka svého a podlé srdce svého činíš velikou věc tuto, abys v známost uvedl všecky převeliké věci. 20 Hospodine, neníť tobě rovného, anobrž není žádného Boha kromě tebe, podlé toho všeho, jakž jsme slýchali ušima svýma. 21 Nebo kde jest který národ na zemi, jako lid tvůj Izraelský, jehož by Bůh šel, aby vykoupil sobě lid a dobyl sobě jména, čině veliké a hrozné věci, vyháněje před tváří lidu svého, kterýž jsi vykoupil z Egypta, pohany? 22 Zvolil jsi zajisté lid svůj Izraelský sobě za lid až na věky, a ty, Hospodine, sám jsi jejich Bohem. 23 Nyní tedy, Hospodine, slovo to, jímž jsi zamluvil se služebníku svému a domu jeho, budiž jisté až na věky, a učiň tak, jakž jsi mluvil. 24 Budiž, pravím, jisté, tak aby velebeno bylo jméno tvé až na věky, a říkáno: Hospodin zástupů, Bůh Izraelský, jest Bůh nad Izraelem, a dům Davida služebníka tvého ať jest nepohnutelný před oblíčejem tvým. 25 Nebo ty, Bože můj, zjevil jsi služebníku svému, že mu ustavíš dům, a protož směl služebník tvůj modliti se před tebou. 26 A tak, ó Hospodine, ty jsi sám Bůh, a mluvil jsi o služebníku svém dobré věci tyto. 27 Nyní tedy ráčil jsi požehnati domu služebníka svého, aby trval na věky před oblíčejem tvým; nebo jsi ty, Hospodine, požehnal, i budeť požehnaný na věky.

Vyhladil jsem před tebou všechny tvé nepřátele. Tvé jméno jsem učinil tak veliké, jako je jméno velikánů na zemi. 9 I svému lidu, Izraeli, jsem připravil místo a zasadil jej; tam bude bydlet a už nikdy nebude znepokojován, už jej nebudou vysávat bídáci jako dřív. 10 Ode dnů, kdy jsem správou svého izraelského lidu pověřil soudce, podrobil jsem ti všechny nepřátele. Oznamuji ti, že Hospodin vybuduje dům tobě. 11 Až se naplní tvé dny a ty odejdeš ke svým otcům, dám po tobě povstat tvému potomku z tvých synů a upevním jeho království. 12 Ten mi vybuduje dům a já upevním jeho trůn navěky. 13 Já mu budu Otcem a on mi bude synem. Svoje milosrdenství mu neodejmu, jako jsem odňal tomu, který byl před tebou. 14 Ustanovím jej ve svém domě a ve svém království navěky. Jeho trůn bude navěky upevněn.“ 15 Nátan k Davidovi promluvil ve smyslu všech těchto slov a celého tohoto vidění. 16 Král David pak vešel, usedl před Hospodinem a řekl: „Co jsem, Hospodine Bože, a co je můj dům, že jsi mě přivedl až sem? 17 A i to bylo v tvých očích málo, Bože. Pro dobro svého služebníka a podle svého srdce jsi projevil svou velkorysost, když jsi zjevil všechny tyto velkolepé věci. 20 Hospodine, nikdo není jako ty a není Boha kromě tebe, jak jsme vždy na vlastní uši slyšeli. 21 A kdo je jako tvůj lid Izrael, jediný národ na zemi, který si Bůh přišel vykoupit jako svůj lid! Získal sis jméno velikými a ohromnými divy, když jsi vypudil národy před svým lidem, který sis vykoupil z Egypta! 22 Svůj lid Izrael jsi navěky učinil svým lidem a ty, Hospodine, jsi jejich Bůh. 23 Nuže, Hospodine, kéž se navěky potvrdí slovo, které jsi dal svému služebníkovi a jeho domu. The Lord’s Covenant with David

1 Now when David lived in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, “Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under a tent.” (2S 7,1) 2 And Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.” 3 But that same night the word of the Lord came to Nathan, 4 “Go and tell my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: It is not you who will build me a house to dwell in. (1Pa 28,3) 5 For I have not lived in a house since the day I brought up Israel to this day, but I have gone from tent to tent and from dwelling to dwelling. David’s Prayer

16 Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and said, “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far? 17 And this was a small thing in your eyes, O God. You have also spoken of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have shown me future generations,^[1] O Lord God! 18 And what more can David say to you for honoring your servant? For you know your servant. 19 For your servant’s sake, O Lord, and according to your own heart, you have done all this greatness, in making known all these great things. (2S 7,21) 20 There is none like you, O Lord, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 21 And who is like your people Israel, the one^[2] nation on earth whom God went to redeem to be his people, making for yourself a name for great and awesome things, in driving out nations before your people whom you redeemed from Egypt? 22 And you made your people Israel to be your people forever, and you, O Lord, became their God. 23 And now, O Lord, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and concerning his house be established forever, and do as you have spoken, 24 and your name will be established and magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, is Israel’s God,’ and the house of your servant David will be established before you. 25 For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. Therefore your servant has found courage to pray before you. 26 And now, O Lord, you are God, and you have promised this good thing to your servant. 27 Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you, for it is you, O Lord, who have blessed, and it is blessed forever.”

Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house. 11 And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom. 12 He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever. 13 I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee: 14 But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore. 15 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David. 16 And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto? 17 And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant' house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God. 18 What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant. 19 O LORD, for thy servant' sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things. 20 O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 21 And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt? 22 For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God. 23 Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said. 24 Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee. 25 For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee. 26 And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant: 27 Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.
