1I já přišed k vám, bratří, nepřišel jsem s důstojností řeči nebo moudrostí, zvěstuje vám svědectví Boží.2Nebo tak jsem usoudil nic jiného neuměti mezi vámi, nežli Ježíše Krista, a to ještě toho ukřižovaného.3A byl jsem já u vás v mdlobě, a v bázni, i v strachu mnohém.4A řeč má a kázaní mé nebylo v slibných lidské moudrosti řečech, ale v dokázání Ducha svatého a moci,5Aby víra vaše nebyla založena v moudrosti lidské, ale v moci Boží.6Moudrost pak mluvíme mezi dokonalými, ale moudrost ne tohoto světa, ani knížat světa tohoto, jenž hynou.7Ale mluvíme moudrost Boží v tajemství, kterážto skryta jest, kterouž Bůh předuložil před věky k slávě naší,8Jížto žádný z knížat světa tohoto nepoznal. 6 Moudrosti sice učíme, ale jen ty, kteří jsou dospělí ve víře – ne ovšem moudrosti tohoto věku či vládců tohoto věku, spějících k záhubě,7 nýbrž moudrosti Boží, skryté v tajemství, kterou Bůh od věčnosti určil pro naše oslavení.8 Tu moudrost nikdo z vládců tohoto věku nepoznal; neboť kdyby ji byli poznali, nebyli by ukřižovali Pána slávy.9 Ale jak je psáno: ‚Co oko nevidělo a ucho neslyšelo, co ani člověku na mysl nepřišlo, připravil Bůh těm, kdo ho milují.‘ 10 Nám však to Bůh zjevil skrze Ducha; Duch totiž zkoumá všechno, i hlubiny Boží.11 Neboť kdo z lidí zná, co je v člověku, než jeho vlastní duch? Právě tak nikdo nepoznal, co je v Bohu, než Duch Boží.12 My jsme však nepřijali ducha světa, ale Ducha, který je z Boha,13 abychom poznali, co nám Bůh daroval.
