1La main de l’Eternel se posa sur moi et l’Eternel m’emmena par son Esprit et me déposa au milieu d’une vallée pleine d’ossements.2Il me fit promener près d’eux tout autour et je constatai que ces ossements étaient innombrables sur toute l’étendue de la vallée et qu’ils étaient totalement desséchés.3Il me demanda: Fils d’homme, crois-tu que ces ossements revivront? Je répondis: Toi seul, Seigneur Eternel, tu le sais.4Puis il me dit: Prophétise sur ces ossements-là et dis-leur: « Ossements desséchés! Ecoutez ce que dit l’Eternel!5Voici ce que vous déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Je vais faire venir en vous l’Esprit et vous revivrez.6Je mettrai sur vous des nerfs, je vous revêtirai de chair, je vous recouvrirai de peau, je mettrai en vous l’Esprit et vous revivrez. Et vous reconnaîtrez que je suis l’Eternel. »7Je prophétisai donc comme j’en avais reçu l’ordre. Et tandis que je prophétisais, il y eut soudain un bruit, puis un mouvement se produisit et les os se rapprochèrent les uns des autres.8Et, pendant que je regardais, voici qu’il se formait sur eux des nerfs et de la chair et que de la peau venait les recouvrir, mais il n’y avait pas d’esprit[1] en eux.9Alors l’Eternel me dit: Fils d’homme, prophétise à l’adresse de l’Esprit, prophétise et dis à l’Esprit: « Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Esprit, viens des quatre coins du ciel et souffle[2] sur ces morts pour qu’ils revivent. » (Jn 3:8)10Je prophétisai donc comme il me l’avait ordonné. Alors, l’Esprit entra en eux et ils reprirent vie, ils se dressèrent sur leurs pieds et ce fut une immense armée.11Il me dit: Fils d’homme, ces ossements-là représentent toute la communauté d’Israël. Voici ce qu’ils disent: « Nos os sont desséchés! Notre espérance s’est évanouie, la vie nous a été arrachée[3]. »12C’est pourquoi prophétise et dis-leur: « Voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Je vais ouvrir vos sépulcres et je vous ferai remonter de vos tombes, ô mon peuple, et je vous ramènerai dans le pays d’Israël.13Et vous reconnaîtrez que je suis l’Eternel lorsque j’ouvrirai vos sépulcres et que je vous ferai remonter de vos tombes, ô mon peuple.14Je mettrai mon Esprit en vous et vous revivrez, et je vous établirai de nouveau dans votre pays; alors vous reconnaîtrez que moi, l’Eternel, j’ai parlé et agi, l’Eternel le déclare. »
L’unité retrouvée
15L’Eternel m’adressa la parole en ces termes:16Fils d’homme, prends un morceau de bois, et grave dessus: « Pour Juda et les Israélites qui en font partie ». Puis tu prendras un autre morceau de bois, un morceau de bois pour Ephraïm, et tu inscriras dessus: « Pour Joseph et pour toute la communauté d’Israël qui en fait partie ».17Ensuite, tu joindras les deux morceaux l’un à l’autre pour n’avoir qu’une pièce unique, en sorte que les deux morceaux n’en fassent qu’un dans ta main.18Lorsque tes compatriotes te demanderont: « Explique-nous ce que cela signifie pour toi »,19tu leur répondras: « Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Je vais prendre le bois de Joseph qui est dans la main d’Ephraïm et les tribus d’Israël qui en font partie, je le joindrai au bois de Juda et je ferai des deux un seul morceau: ils seront un dans ma main. »20Tu garderas en main, bien visibles pour eux, les morceaux de bois sur lesquels tu auras fait ces inscriptions,21et tu leur diras: « Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Je vais prendre les Israélites du milieu des peuples chez lesquels ils sont allés, je les rassemblerai de tous les pays alentour, je les ramènerai dans leur pays,22et je ferai d’eux une seule nation dans le pays, sur les montagnes d’Israël. Un roi unique régnera sur eux tous, ils ne formeront plus deux nations et ne seront plus divisés en deux royaumes.23Ils ne se rendront plus impurs par le culte rendu à leurs idoles et à leurs divinités abominables, et par toutes leurs transgressions. Je les tirerai de tous leurs lieux d’habitation où ils ont péché[4], et je les purifierai; ils seront mon peuple et je serai leur Dieu.24Mon serviteur David sera leur roi, il sera l’unique berger pour eux tous, ils vivront selon mes commandements, et obéiront à mes lois pour les appliquer.25Ils habiteront dans le pays que j’ai donné à mon serviteur Jacob et dans lequel ont vécu leurs ancêtres; ils y demeureront, eux, leurs enfants et leurs petits-enfants à perpétuité, et mon serviteur David sera pour toujours prince sur eux.26Je conclurai avec eux une alliance garantissant la paix; ce sera une alliance éternelle avec eux; je les établirai et je les rendrai nombreux, je fixerai pour toujours mon sanctuaire au milieu d’eux.27Ma demeure sera près d’eux, je serai leur Dieu, et ils seront mon peuple[5]. (2Co 6:16)28Et les autres peuples reconnaîtront que je suis l’Eternel qui fait d’Israël un peuple saint en plaçant mon sanctuaire pour toujours au milieu d’eux. »

(Ps 88:11; Ac 26:8)4Da sprach er zu mir: Weissage über diese Gebeine und sage zu ihnen: Ihr vertrockneten Gebeine, hört das Wort des HERRN!5So spricht der Herr, HERR, zu diesen Gebeinen: Siehe, ich bringe Odem[3] in euch, dass ihr ⟨wieder⟩ lebendig werdet. (Gn 2:7; Ps 104:30; Is 26:19)6Und ich lege Sehnen an euch und lasse Fleisch über euch wachsen und überziehe euch mit Haut, und ich gebe Odem[4] in euch, dass ihr ⟨wieder⟩ lebendig werdet. Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. (Gn 2:7; Ps 104:30; Is 26:19)7Und ich weissagte, wie mir befohlen war. Da entstand ein Geräusch, als ich weissagte, und siehe, ein Getöse; und die Gebeine rückten zusammen, Gebein an Gebein[5].8Und ich sah, und siehe, ⟨es entstanden⟩ Sehnen an ihnen, und Fleisch wuchs, und Haut zog sich über sie[6] oben darüber; aber es war ⟨noch⟩ kein Odem[7] in ihnen.9Und er sprach zu mir: Weissage dem Odem[8], weissage, Menschensohn, und sprich zu dem Odem[9]: So spricht der Herr, HERR: Komm von den vier Winden her, du Odem[10], und hauche diese Erschlagenen an, dass sie ⟨wieder⟩ lebendig werden! (Ap 7:1)10Da weissagte ich, wie er mir befohlen hatte; und der Odem[11] kam in sie, und sie wurden ⟨wieder⟩ lebendig und standen auf ihren Füßen, ein sehr, sehr großes Heer. (Ap 11:11)11Und er sprach zu mir: Menschensohn, diese Gebeine, sie sind das ganze Haus Israel. Siehe, sie sagen: Unsere Gebeine sind vertrocknet, und unsere Hoffnung ist verloren; es ist aus mit uns[12]. (Jb 17:15; Ps 31:23; Ps 88:5; La 3:18)12Darum weissage und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, HERR: Siehe, ich öffne eure Gräber und lasse euch aus euren Gräbern heraufkommen als mein Volk und bringe euch ins Land Israel. (Is 11:11; Ez 36:24; Os 13:14; Mt 27:52)13Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich eure Gräber öffne und euch aus euren Gräbern heraufkommen lasse als mein Volk.14Und ich gebe meinen Geist in euch, dass ihr lebt, und werde euch in euer Land setzen. Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich, der HERR, geredet und es getan habe, spricht der HERR[13]. (Is 32:15; Ez 17:24; Ez 36:27)
Gottes neuer Bund mit Israel: Ein Reich, ein König, ein Gott
15Und das Wort des HERRN geschah zu mir so:16Und du, Menschensohn, nimm dir ein ⟨Stück⟩ Holz und schreibe darauf:[14]»Für Juda und für die Söhne Israel, seine Gefährten. «[15] Und nimm ⟨noch⟩ ein anderes ⟨Stück⟩ Holz und schreibe darauf:[16]»Für Josef, das Holz Ephraims und das ganze Haus Israel, seine Gefährten. «[17] (Nb 17:17; 1R 12:19; 2Ch 11:12)17Und füge sie dir zusammen, eins zum andern, zu einem Holz, sodass sie eins werden in deiner Hand!18Und wenn die Söhne deines Volkes zu dir sagen: »Willst du uns nicht mitteilen, was dir dies bedeutet?«, (Ez 24:19)19so rede zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, HERR: Siehe, ich nehme das Holz Josefs, das in der Hand Ephraims ist, und die Stämme Israels, seine Gefährten; und ich lege auf es das Holz Judas[18] und mache sie zu einem Holz, sodass sie eins werden in meiner Hand. (Jr 3:18)20Und die Hölzer, auf die du geschrieben hast, sollen in deiner Hand sein vor ihren Augen.21Und rede zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, HERR: Siehe, ich nehme die Söhne Israel aus den Nationen heraus, wohin sie gezogen sind, und ich sammle sie von allen Seiten und bringe sie in ihr Land. (Jr 16:15; Jr 23:3; Jr 31:16; Ez 34:13; Ez 39:28; So 3:20)22Und ich mache sie zu einer Nation im Land, auf den Bergen Israels, und ein einziger König wird für sie alle zum König sein; und sie sollen nicht mehr zu zwei Nationen werden und sollen sich künftig nicht mehr in zwei Königreiche teilen. (Is 11:13; Mi 5:2; Za 11:14; Ac 1:6)23Und sie werden sich nicht mehr unrein machen mit ihren Götzen und mit ihren Scheusalen und mit all ihren Vergehen. Und ich werde sie retten aus all ihren Treulosigkeiten, mit denen[19] sie gesündigt haben, und werde sie reinigen; und sie werden mir zum Volk und ich werde ihnen zum Gott sein. (Ez 11:18; Ez 11:20; Ez 36:25; Ez 36:28; 2Co 6:16; Ap 21:3)24Und mein Knecht David wird König über sie sein, und sie werden alle einen Hirten haben; und sie werden in meinen Rechtsbestimmungen leben und meine Ordnungen bewahren und sie tun. (Dt 6:1; Jr 32:39; Ez 34:23; Ez 36:27; Os 3:5)25Und sie werden in dem Land wohnen, das ich meinem Knecht Jakob gegeben habe, in dem eure Väter gewohnt haben; und sie werden darin wohnen, sie und ihre Kinder und ihre Kindeskinder, bis in Ewigkeit; und mein Knecht David wird ihr Fürst sein für ewig. (Gn 48:4; 2S 7:13; Is 60:21; Ez 28:25; Jl 4:20; Am 9:15)26Und ich schließe mit ihnen einen Bund des Friedens, ein ewiger Bund wird es mit ihnen sein[20]; den gebe ich ihnen und lasse sie zahlreich werden und setze mein Heiligtum in ihre Mitte für ewig. (Ex 15:17; Ex 25:8; Lv 26:11; Jr 31:31; Ez 16:60; Ez 34:25; Ez 36:10; Ez 43:7; Ez 48:35; So 3:15)27Und meine Wohnung wird über ihnen sein; und ich werde ihnen zum Gott und sie werden mir zum Volk sein. (Ez 11:20; Ez 36:28; 2Co 6:16; Ap 21:3)28Und die Nationen werden erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin, der Israel heiligt, wenn mein Heiligtum für ewig in ihrer Mitte ist. (Ex 15:17; Ex 25:8; Lv 26:11; Ez 20:12; Ez 39:1; Ez 43:7; Ez 48:35; So 3:15; Jn 17:17)
1The power of the LORD came on me. His Spirit brought me away from my home. He put me down in the middle of a valley. It was full of bones.2He led me to and fro among them. I saw a huge number of bones in the valley. The bones were very dry.3The LORD asked me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live?’ I said, ‘LORD and King, you are the only one who knows.’4Then he said to me, ‘Prophesy to these bones. Tell them, “Dry bones, listen to the LORD’s message.5The LORD and King speaks to you. He says, ‘I will put breath in you. Then you will come to life again.6I will attach tendons to you. I will put flesh on you. I will cover you with skin. So I will put breath in you. And you will come to life again. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’ ” ’7So I prophesied just as the LORD commanded me to. As I was prophesying, I heard a noise. It was a rattling sound. The bones came together. One bone connected itself to another.8I saw tendons and flesh appear on them. Skin covered them. But there was no breath in them.9Then the LORD said to me, ‘Prophesy to the breath. Prophesy, son of man. Tell it, “The LORD and King says, ‘Breath, come from all four directions. Go into these people who have been killed. Then they can live.’ ” ’10So I prophesied just as he commanded me to. And breath entered them. Then they came to life again. They stood up on their feet. They were like a huge army.11Then the LORD said to me, ‘Son of man, these bones stand for all the people of Israel. The people say, “Our bones are dried up. We’ve lost all hope. We are destroyed.”12So prophesy. Tell them, “The LORD and King says, ‘My people, I am going to open up your graves. I am going to bring you out of them. I will take you back to the land of Israel.13So I will open up your graves and bring you out of them. Then you will know that I am the LORD. You are my people.14I will put my Spirit in you. And you will live again. I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I have spoken. I have done it,’ announces the LORD.” ’
Israel will be one nation under one king
15A message from the LORD came to me. The LORD said,16‘Son of man, get a stick of wood. Write on it, “Belonging to the tribe of Judah and the Israelites who are connected with it.” Then get another stick. Write on it, “Ephraim’s stick. Belonging to the tribes of Joseph and all the Israelites connected with them.”17Join them together into one stick in your hand.18‘Your people will ask you, “What do you mean by this?”19Tell them, “The LORD and King says, ‘I am going to get the stick of Joseph and the Israelites connected with it. That stick is in Ephraim’s hand. I am going to join it to Judah’s stick. I will make them a single stick of wood in my hand.’ ”20Show them the sticks you wrote on.21Tell them, “The LORD and King says, ‘I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them together from all around. I will bring them back to their own land.22There I will make them one nation. They will live on the mountains of Israel. All of them will have one king. They will never be two nations again. They will never again be separated into two kingdoms.23They will no longer make themselves “unclean” by worshipping any of their evil gods. They will not do wrong things anymore. They always turn away from me. But I will save them from that sin. I will make them pure and “clean”. They will be my people. And I will be their God.24‘ “ ‘A man who belongs to the family line of my servant David will be their king. All of them will have one shepherd. They will obey my laws. And they will be careful to keep my rules.25They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob. That is where your people of long ago lived. They, their children, their children’s children, and their children after them will live there for ever. And my servant from David’s family line will be their prince for ever.26I will make a covenant with them. It promises to give them peace. The covenant will last for ever. I will make them my people. And I will cause there to be many of them. I will put my temple among them for ever.27I will live with them. I will be their God. And they will be my people.28My temple will be among them for ever. Then the nations will know that I make Israel holy. I am the LORD.’ ” ’
