1L’Eternel m’adressa la parole en ces termes[1]: (Ez 25:12)2Fils d’homme, dirige ton regard ╵en direction du mont Séir[2] et prophétise contre lui, (Ez 32:29)3et dis-lui: Le Seigneur, ╵l’Eternel, dit ceci: Je vais m’en prendre à toi, ╵montagne de Séir, je vais étendre ma main ╵contre toi, te transformer ╵en une terre dévastée ╵et désolée.4Je mettrai tes villes en ruine, tu seras dévasté et tu reconnaîtras ╵que je suis l’Eternel.5Puisque tu as sans cesse nourri de la haine contre les Israélites et que tu les as livrés à l’épée au temps de leur détresse, au jour où leur péché a été puni,6à cause de cela, aussi vrai que je vis, c’est là ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Je te mettrai en sang, le sang te poursuivra. Puisque tu n’as pas eu horreur de répandre le sang, le sang te poursuivra.7Je ferai du mont de Séir un désert dévasté et j’y supprimerai tout allant et venant.8Je remplirai ses monts de morts; sur tes collines, dans tes vallées et dans le lit de tes torrents, tomberont les victimes qui périront par l’épée.9Je te transformerai pour toujours en désert; jamais plus, tes villes ne seront habitées, et tu reconnaîtras que je suis l’Eternel.10Parce que tu as dit: « Ces deux peuples, Israël et Juda, de même que leurs deux pays, seront à moi, et j’en prendrai possession bien que l’Eternel y réside »,11à cause de cela, aussi vrai que je vis, c’est là ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: J’agirai envers toi conformément à ta colère, et à ta passion, qui t’ont fait agir contre eux avec haine: je me ferai connaître à eux quand je te jugerai.12Et tu sauras que moi, moi, l’Eternel, j’ai entendu tous les outrages que tu as proférés au sujet des montagnes d’Israël. Tu as dit, en effet: « Les voilà dévastées, elles me sont livrées comme une proie à dévorer. »13Tu as tenu contre moi des propos orgueilleux et tu as multiplié tes discours contre moi[3]. Et je les ai bien entendus.14Voici donc ce que dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Lorsque toute la terre sera dans l’allégresse, je te dévasterai.15Puisque tu t’es réjoui de la dévastation du patrimoine d’Israël, je te ferai de même: tu seras dévastée, montagne de Séir, ainsi qu’Edom tout entier. Et l’on reconnaîtra que je suis l’Eternel.
Unheil für das Gebirge Edom, Heil für die Berge Israels
1Und das Wort des HERRN geschah zu mir so:2Menschensohn, richte dein Gesicht gegen das Gebirge Seïr, und weissage über es (Dt 2:5)3und sage zu ihm: So spricht der Herr, HERR: Siehe, ich will an dich, Gebirge Seïr; und ich strecke meine Hand gegen dich aus und mache dich zum Entsetzen[1] und Grausen; (Jl 4:19)4deine Städte mache ich zur Trümmerstätte, und du selbst wirst Ödland sein. Und du wirst erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. (Jl 4:19)5Weil du eine beständige Feindschaft hegtest und die Söhne Israel der Gewalt des Schwertes preisgabst zur Zeit ihres Unglücks, zur Zeit der endgültigen Strafe[2];6darum, so wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, HERR[3], ja, ich mache dich zu Blut, und Blut wird dich verfolgen; weil du Blut nicht gehasst hast[4], soll Blut dich verfolgen. (Ps 109:17; Ap 16:6)7Und ich mache das Gebirge Seïr zum Entsetzen[5] und Grausen und rotte den, der hinzieht und zurückkehrt aus ihm, aus. (Ml 1:3)8Und seine Berge fülle ich mit seinen Erschlagenen an. Auf deinen Hügeln und in deinen Tälern und in allen deinen Bachrinnen sollen vom Schwert Erschlagene fallen. (Ez 32:5)9Zu ewigen Einöden mache ich dich, und deine Städte sollen nicht mehr bewohnt werden. Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. (Ez 6:14)10Weil du sagst: Die beiden Nationen und die beiden Länder gehören mir, und ich nehme sie in Besitz[6], wo doch der HERR dort war; (Nb 35:34; Ps 83:13; Ez 36:2; Ez 48:35)11darum, so wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, HERR[7], werde ich ⟨an dir⟩ handeln nach deinem Zorn und nach deiner Eifersucht, mit denen du aus Hass[8] gegen sie gehandelt hast; und ich werde mich ihnen[9] zu erkennen geben, wenn ich dich gerichtet habe. (Jc 2:13)12Und du wirst erkennen, dass ich, der HERR, alle deine Lästerungen gehört habe, die du gegen die Berge Israels ausgesprochen hast, indem du sagtest: Sie liegen verwüstet da, uns sind sie zum Fraß gegeben. (Ps 79:12; So 2:8)13Und ihr habt mit eurem Mund gegen mich großgetan und eure Worte gegen mich überreichlich gemacht; ich habe es gehört. (Nb 12:2; Ps 74:18; Ps 94:9; Is 37:29)14So spricht der Herr, HERR: Wie du dich gefreut hast[10], ⟨dass⟩ das ganze Land eine Einöde war, ⟨so⟩ will ich dir tun. (Is 14:7)15Wie du deine Freude hattest an dem Erbteil des Hauses Israel, weil es verwüstet war, ebenso werde ich dir tun: eine Einöde sollst du werden, Gebirge Seïr und ganz Edom insgesamt! Und sie werden erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. (La 4:21; Ez 25:6; Ez 36:5)
1A message from the LORD came to me. The LORD said,2‘Son of man, turn your attention to Mount Seir. Prophesy against it.3Tell it, “The LORD and King says, ‘Mount Seir, I am against you. I will reach out my powerful hand against you. I will turn you into a dry and empty desert.4I will destroy your towns. Your land will become empty. Then you will know that I am the LORD.5‘ “ ‘People of Edom, you have been Israel’s enemies for a long time. You let many Israelites be killed by swords when they were in great trouble. At that time I used Nebuchadnezzar to punish them and destroy them completely.6Now I will hand you over to murderers. They will hunt you down. You murdered others. So murderers will chase you. And that is just as sure as I am alive,’ announces the LORD and King.7‘I will turn Mount Seir into a dry and empty desert. No one will be able to go anywhere or do anything there.8I will fill your mountains with dead bodies. Some of those who are killed by swords will fall down dead on your hills. Others will die in your valleys and in all your canyons.9I will make your land empty for ever. No one will live in your towns. Then you will know that I am the LORD.10‘ “ ‘You said, “The nations of Israel and Judah will belong to us. We will take them over.” You said that, even though I was there. I am the LORD.11You were full of anger, jealousy and hatred towards my people. So I will punish you. When I judge you, they will know that I am the LORD. And that is just as sure as I am alive,’ announces the LORD and King.12‘You will know that I have heard all the terrible things you said. You said them about those who live in the mountains of Israel. You made fun of them. You said, “They have been destroyed. They’ve been handed over to us. Let’s wipe them out.”13You boasted that you were better than I am. You spoke against me. You did not hold anything back. But I heard it.’ ” ’14The LORD and King says, ‘The whole earth will be glad. But I will make your land empty.15You were happy when the land of Israel became empty. So I will treat you in the same way. Mount Seir, you will be empty. So will the whole land of Edom. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’
