18 In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.” (Ge 15:5) 

New International Version

18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’ (Ge 15:5) 

New International Reader’s Version

18 When there was no reason for hope, Abraham believed because he had hope. He became the father of many nations, exactly as God had promised. God said, ‘That is how many children you will have.’ (Ge 15:5) 

King James Version

18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
