Proverbs 22:23

English Standard Version

23 for the Lord will plead their cause and rob of life those who rob them. (1Sa 25:39; Ps 12:5; Ps 35:10; Ps 68:5; Ps 140:12; Pr 23:11; Jer 51:36) 

New International Version

23 for the Lord will take up their case and will exact life for life. 

New International Reader’s Version

23 The LORD will stand up for them in court. He will require the lives of people who have taken the lives of those in need. 

King James Version

23 For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
