2 “Avenge the people of Israel on the Midianites. Afterward you shall be gathered to your people.” (Nu 20:24; Nu 25:17) 

New International Version

2 ‘Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

2 ‘Pay the Midianites back for what they did to the Israelites. After that, you will join the members of your family who have already died.’ 

King James Version

2 Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
