6 The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights; they pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail because there is no vegetation. (Jer 2:24) 

New International Version

6 Wild donkeys stand on the barren heights and pant like jackals; their eyes fail for lack of food.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

6 Wild donkeys stand on the bare hilltops. They long for water as wild dogs do. Their eyesight fails because they do not have any food to eat.’ 

King James Version

6 And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
