James 1:26

English Standard Version

26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. (Ps 34:13; Ps 39:1; Ps 141:3; Ac 26:5; Jas 3:2; Jas 3:6)

New International Version

26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

New International Reader’s Version

26 Suppose people think their beliefs and how they live are both right. But they don’t control what they say. Then they are fooling themselves. Their beliefs and way of life are not worth anything at all.

King James Version

26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
