Isaiah 53:3

English Standard Version

3 He was despised and rejected[1] by men, a man of sorrows[2] and acquainted with[3] grief;[4] and as one from whom men hide their faces[5] he was despised, and we esteemed him not. (Ps 22:6; Isa 49:7; Mr 9:12; Joh 1:10)

New International Version

3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

New International Reader’s Version

3 People looked down on him. They didn’t accept him. He knew all about pain and suffering. He was like someone people turn their faces away from. We looked down on him. We didn’t have any respect for him.

King James Version

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
