Hosea 10:4

English Standard Version

4 They utter mere words; with empty[1] oaths they make covenants; so judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field. (Ho 4:2; Ho 12:11; Am 5:7; Am 6:12) 

New International Version

4 They make many promises, take false oaths and make agreements; therefore lawsuits spring up like poisonous weeds in a ploughed field. 

New International Reader’s Version

4 They make a lot of promises. They make agreements among themselves. They make promises they don’t mean to keep. So court cases spring up like poisonous weeds in a ploughed field. 

King James Version

4 They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.
