Genesis 4:15

English Standard Version

15 Then the Lord said to him, “Not so! If anyone kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” And the Lord put a mark on Cain, lest any who found him should attack him. (Ps 79:12; Eze 9:4; Eze 9:6; Re 14:9; Re 14:11)

New International Version

15 But the Lord said to him, ‘Not so[1]; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.’ Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no-one who found him would kill him.

New International Reader’s Version

15 But the LORD said to him, ‘No. Anyone who kills you will be paid back seven times.’ The LORD put a mark on Cain. Then anyone who found him wouldn’t kill him.

King James Version

15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
