30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel,[1] saying, “For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.” (Ge 16:13; Ex 24:10; Ex 33:20; De 5:24; Jud 6:22; Jud 13:22; Isa 6:5) 

New International Version

30 So Jacob called the place Peniel,[1] saying, ‘It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

30 So Jacob named the place Peniel. He said, ‘I saw God face to face. But I’m still alive!’ 

King James Version

30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
