Esther 5:9

English Standard Version

9 And Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he neither rose nor trembled before him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai. (1Ki 8:66; Es 2:19; Es 3:5) 

New International Version

9 Haman went out that day happy and in high spirits. But when he saw Mordecai at the king’s gate and observed that he neither rose nor showed fear in his presence, he was filled with rage against Mordecai. 

New International Reader’s Version

9 That day Haman was happy. So he left the palace in a good mood. But then he saw Mordecai at the palace gate. He noticed that Mordecai didn’t stand up when he walked by. In fact, Mordecai didn’t have any respect for him at all. So he was very angry with him. 

King James Version

9 Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king' gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.
