19 And the woman took and spread a covering over the well’s mouth and scattered grain on it, and nothing was known of it. (Jos 2:6) 

New International Version

19 His wife took a covering and spread it out over the opening of the well and scattered corn over it. No-one knew anything about it. 

New International Reader’s Version

19 The man’s wife got a covering and spread it out over the opening of the well. Then she scattered corn on the covering. So no one knew that the men were hiding in the well. 

King James Version

19 And the woman took and spread a covering over the well' mouth, and spread ground corn thereon; and the thing was not known.
