18 Then Shaphan the secretary told the king, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it before the king. 

New International Version

18 Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, ‘Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.’ And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king. 

New International Reader’s Version

18 Shaphan continued, ‘Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.’ Shaphan read some of it to the king. 

King James Version

18 Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
