1A Psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.2Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.3Our God comes; he does not keep silence;* before him is a devouring fire, around him a mighty tempest.4He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people:5“Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!”6The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge!7“Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify against you. I am God, your God.8Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before me.9I will not accept a bull from your house or goats from your folds.10For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.11I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine.12“If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine.13Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?14Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,* and perform your vows to the Most High,15and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”16But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant on your lips?17For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you.18If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers.19“You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit.20You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.21These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought that I* was one like yourself. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you.22“Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver!23The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!”

1خداوند قادر مطلق سخن میگويد؛ او همهٔ مردم را از مشرق تا مغرب نزد خود فرا میخواند.2نور جلال خدا از كوه صهيون، كه مظهر زيبايی و بزرگی اوست، میتابد.3خدای ما خواهد آمد و سكوت نخواهد كرد. شعلههای آتش در پيشاپيش او و گردباد در اطراف اوست.4او آسمان و زمين را به گواهی میطلبد تا بر قوم خود داوری كند.5خداوند میفرمايد: «قوم خاص مرا كه با قربانیهای خود با من عهد بستهاند كه نسبت به من وفادار بمانند، نزد من جمع كنيد.»6آسمانها گواهند كه خود خداوند داور است و با عدالت داوری میكند.7«ای قوم من، ای اسرائيل، به سخنان من گوش دهيد، زيرا من خدای شما هستم! من خود بر ضد شما شهادت میدهم.8دربارهٔ قربانیهايتان شما را سرزنش نمیكنم، زيرا آنها را پيوسته به من تقديم میكنيد.9من طالب گوسالهها و بزهای شما نيستم،10زيرا همهٔ حيواناتی كه در جنگل و كوه هستند از آن منند.11همهٔ پرندگانی كه بر کوهها پرواز میكنند و تمام حيواناتی كه در صحراها میچرند، به من تعلق دارند.12اگر گرسنه میبودم از تو خوراک نمیخواستم، زيرا كه جهان و هر چه كه در آن است از آن من است.13مگر من گوشت گاوها را میخورم و يا خون بزها را مینوشم؟14قربانی واقعی كه بايد تقديم كنيد اين است كه خدای خويش را شكر نماييد و نذرهايی را كه كردهايد ادا كنيد.15هنگامی كه در مشكلات هستيد مرا بخوانيد؛ من شما را نجات خواهم داد و شما مرا ستايش خواهيد كرد.»16اما خدا به بدكاران چنين میگويد: «شما چه حق داريد كه احكام مرا بر زبان بياوريد و دربارهٔ عهد من سخن بگوييد؟17زيرا شما از اصلاح شدن نفرت داريد و دستورات مرا پشت گوش میاندازيد.18وقتی دزد را میبينيد كه دزدی میكند با وی همدست میشويد و با زناكاران معاشرت میكنيد.19سخنان شما با خباثت و نيرنگ آميخته است.20هر جا مینشينيد از برادرتان بد میگوييد و غيبت میكنيد.21اين كارها را كرديد و من چيزی نگفتم. فكر كرديد من هم مانند شما هستم! اما اينک من شما را برای تمام اين كارها تنبيه میكنم.22«ای كسانی كه مرا فراموش كردهايد، به من گوش دهيد و گرنه شما را هلاک خواهم كرد و فريادرسی نخواهيد داشت.23قربانی شايستهٔ من آنست كه از من سپاسگزار باشيد و مرا ستايش كنيد. هر كه چنين كند راه نجات را به او نشان خواهم داد.»
