RAB diyor ki, ‹‹ ‹Gençliğindeki bağlılığını, Gelinliğindeki sevgini, Çölde, ekilmemiş toprakta Beni nasıl izlediğini anımsıyorum. 3 İsrail RAB için kutsal bir halk, Hasadının ilk ürünüydü. Onu yeren herkes suçlu sayılır, Başına felaket gelirdi› ›› diyor RAB. 4 RAB'bin sözünü dinleyin, Ey Yakup soyu, İsrail'in bütün boyları! 5 RAB diyor ki, ‹‹Atalarınız bende ne haksızlık buldular da Benden uzaklaştılar? Oysa siz gelir gelmez ülkemi kirlettiniz, Mülkümü iğrenç bir yere çevirdiniz. 8 Kâhinler, ‹RAB nerede?› diye sormadılar, Kutsal Yasa uzmanları beni tanımadılar, Yöneticiler bana başkaldırdılar; Peygamberler Baal adına peygamberlik edip İşe yaramaz putların ardınca gittiler. 9 ‹‹Bu yüzden sizden yine davacı olacağım›› diyor RAB, ‹‹Torunlarınızdan da davacı olacağım. 10 Gidin de Kittim[1] kıyılarına bakın! Kedar[2] ülkesine adam gönderip iyice inceleyin, Hiç böyle bir şey oldu mu, olmadı mı görün. 11 Hiçbir ulus ilahlarını değiştirdi mi? -Ki onlar zaten tanrı değildirler- Ama benim halkım görkemini[3] İşe yaramaz putlara değişti. 12 Ey gökler, şaşın buna, Tir tir titreyin, şaşakalın›› diyor RAB. 13 ‹‹Çünkü halkım iki kötülük yaptı: Beni, diri suların pınarını bıraktı, Kendilerine sarnıçlar, Su tutmayan çatlak sarnıçlar kazdılar. 14-15 İsrail uşak mı? Köle olarak mı doğdu? Öyleyse neden gümbür gümbür kükreyen Genç aslanlara av oldu? Ülkeyi viraneye çevirdiler, Kentler yerle bir edildi, kimsesiz bırakıldı! 16 Nof[4] ve Tahpanhes halkı Kafanı kırdı. 17 Seni yolda yürüten Tanrın RAB'bi bırakmakla Başına bunları getirdin. 18 Şimdi Şihor[5] suyundan içmek için Mısır'a gitmek size yarar sağlar mı? Fırat suyundan içmek için Asur'a gitmek size ne sağlar? 19 Seni kendi kötülüğün yola getirecek, Dönekliğin seni paylayacak. Tanrın RAB'bi bırakmanın, Benden korkmamanın Ne kadar kötü, ne kadar acı olduğunu gör de anla.›› Her Şeye Egemen Egemen RAB böyle diyor. 20 ‹‹Boyunduruğunu çok önce kırdın, Bağlarını kopardın. ‹Kulluk etmeyeceğim› dedin. Gerçekten de her yüksek tepede, Her bol yapraklı ağacın altında Fahişe gibi yatıp kalktın. 21 Oysa ben seni en iyi cinsten Seçme bir asma olarak dikmiştim. Nasıl oldu da yozlaşıp yabanıl asmaya döndün? 22 Çamaşır sodasıyla yıkansan, Bol kül suyu kullansan bile, Suçun önümde yine leke gibi duruyor›› Diyor Egemen RAB. 23 ‹‹Öyleyken nasıl, ‹Ben kirlenmedim, Baallar'ı izlemedim› diyebilirsin? Vadide nasıl davrandığına bak da Ne yaptığını anla. Sen orada burada dolaşan Ayağı tez bir dişi devesin. 24 Kösnüyüp havayı koklayan Kıra alışkın yaban eşeğisin. Azgınken kim tutabilir onu? Peşine düşenlerin yorulması gerekmez, Çiftleşme zamanı gelince onu bulurlar. 25 Yalınayak koşmaktan sakın, Susuzluktan boğazını koru. Ama sen, ‹Boş ver! Ben başka ilahları seviyorum, Onları izleyeceğim› dedin. 26 ‹‹Hırsız yakalandığında nasıl utanırsa, İsrail'in halkı, kralları, önderleri, Kâhinleri, peygamberleri de öyle utanacak. 27 Onlar ağaca, ‹Babamsın›, Taşa, ‹Bizi sen doğurdun› derler. Çünkü bana yüzlerini değil, Sırtlarını çevirdiler. Ama felakete uğrayınca, ‹Kalk da bizi kurtar› diye yakarırlar. 28 Hani nerede kendiniz için yaptığınız ilahlar? Felakete uğradığınızda kurtarabiliyorlarsa, Kalkıp gelsinler. Kentlerinin sayısı kadar İlahların var, ey Yahuda halkı.›› 29 ‹‹Neden bana dava açıyorsunuz? Hepiniz bana başkaldırdınız›› diyor RAB. 30 ‹‹Halkınızı boşuna cezalandırdım, yola gelmediler. Kılıcınız yırtıcı aslan gibi öldürdü peygamberlerinizi. 31 ‹‹Ey siz, bu kuşağın çocukları, RAB'bin sözünü anlayın! Ben İsrail için bir çöl, Kapkaranlık bir ülke mi oldum? Öyleyse halkım neden, ‹Başımıza buyruğuz, Artık sana dönmeyeceğiz› diyor? 32 Erden kız takılarını, Gelin çeyizini unutabilir mi? Ama halkım sayısız günlerce unuttu beni. 33 Aşkı kovalamakta Ne kadar beceriklisin! Kötü kadınlara bile kendi yöntemlerini öğretebildin. 34 Eteğin suçsuz yoksulların kanıyla lekelenmiş, Oysa ev soyarken yakalamadın onları. Bütün bunlara karşın, 35 ‹Ben suçsuzum, Kuşkusuz RAB'bin bana öfkesi dindi› diyorsun. Ama ‹Günah işlemedim› dediğin için Yargılayacağım seni. 36 Neden boyuna döneklik yapıp duruyorsun? Asur'da düşkırıklığına uğradığın gibi, Mısır'da da düşkırıklığına uğrayacaksın. 37 Oradan da ellerin başında çıkacaksın, Çünkü RAB senin güvendiklerini reddetti; Onlardan yarar sağlamayacaksın.››

1 The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem, Thus says the Lord, “I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed me in the wilderness, in a land not sown. (Yas 2:7; Yas 8:2; Yer 3:4; Hez 16:8; Hez 16:43; Hez 16:60; Va 2:4) 3 Israel was holy to the Lord, the firstfruits of his harvest. All who ate of it incurred guilt; disaster came upon them, declares the Lord.” (Yar 12:3; Çık 4:22; Çık 19:5; Çık 28:36; Yer 12:14; Hez 25:12; Yak 1:18) 4 Hear the word of the Lord, O house of Jacob, and all the clans of the house of Israel. 5 Thus says the Lord: “What wrong did your fathers find in me that they went far from me, and went after worthlessness, and became worthless? (2 Kr 17:15; Yşa 5:4; Yer 2:31; Yer 10:15; Yer 14:22; Yer 16:19; Mik 6:3) 6 They did not say, ‘Where is the Lord who brought us up from the land of Egypt, who led us in the wilderness, in a land of deserts and pits, in a land of drought and deep darkness, in a land that none passes through, where no man dwells?’ (Yas 8:15; Yas 32:10; Yşa 63:11; Hoş 13:4) 7 And I brought you into a plentiful land to enjoy its fruits and its good things. But when you came in, you defiled my land and made my heritage an abomination. (Lev 18:24; Yas 8:7; Mez 106:38) 8 The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’ Those who handle the law did not know me; the shepherds[1] transgressed against me; the prophets prophesied by Baal and went after things that do not profit. (Yer 5:5; Yer 5:31; Yer 18:18; Yer 23:13; Hab 2:18; Mal 2:7; Rom 2:20) 9 “Therefore I still contend with you, declares the Lord, and with your children’s children I will contend. (Çık 20:5; Yer 2:35; Hez 17:20; Hez 20:35) 10 For cross to the coasts of Cyprus and see, or send to Kedar and examine with care; see if there has been such a thing. (Yar 10:4; Yşa 21:16) 11 Has a nation changed its gods, even though they are no gods? But my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit. (Mez 106:20; Yşa 37:19; Yer 2:8; Yer 16:20; Yer 18:13; Mik 4:5; Gal 4:8) 12 Be appalled, O heavens, at this; be shocked, be utterly desolate, declares the Lord, (Yşa 1:2) 13 for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water. (Mez 36:9; Yer 17:13; Yu 4:10) 14 “Is Israel a slave? Is he a homeborn servant? Why then has he become a prey? (Çık 4:22) 15 The lions have roared against him; they have roared loudly. They have made his land a waste; his cities are in ruins, without inhabitant. (Yşa 5:29; Yer 4:7; Yer 9:11; Yer 46:19) 16 Moreover, the men of Memphis and Tahpanhes have shaved[2] the crown of your head. (Yas 33:20; Yer 43:7; Yer 44:1; Yer 46:14; Hez 30:16) 17 Have you not brought this upon yourself by forsaking the Lord your God, when he led you in the way? (Yer 2:6; Yer 4:18) 18 And now what do you gain by going to Egypt to drink the waters of the Nile? Or what do you gain by going to Assyria to drink the waters of the Euphrates?[3] (Yar 31:21; Yşa 7:20; Yşa 8:7; Yşa 23:3; Yşa 30:1; Yşa 31:1; Yer 2:36; Hoş 7:11) 19 Your evil will chastise you, and your apostasy will reprove you. Know and see that it is evil and bitter for you to forsake the Lord your God; the fear of me is not in you, declares the Lord God of hosts. (Yşa 3:9; Yer 2:13; Yer 2:17; Yer 3:22; Yer 4:18; Yer 5:6; Yer 14:7; Hoş 5:5) 20 “For long ago I broke your yoke and burst your bonds; but you said, ‘I will not serve.’ Yes, on every high hill and under every green tree you bowed down like a whore. (Yşa 1:21; Yer 2:31; Yer 3:1; Yer 3:2; Yer 5:5; Yer 17:2; Yer 30:8) 21 Yet I planted you a choice vine, wholly of pure seed. How then have you turned degenerate and become a wild vine? (Çık 15:17; Yas 32:32; Mez 44:2; Mez 80:8; Yşa 5:2; Yşa 5:4) 22 Though you wash yourself with lye and use much soap, the stain of your guilt is still before me, declares the Lord God. (Yer 17:1) 23 How can you say, ‘I am not unclean, I have not gone after the Baals’? Look at your way in the valley; know what you have done— a restless young camel running here and there, (Yer 2:35; Yer 7:31; Yer 19:2; Yer 19:6) 24 a wild donkey used to the wilderness, in her heat sniffing the wind! Who can restrain her lust? None who seek her need weary themselves; in her month they will find her. (Yer 14:6) 25 Keep your feet from going unshod and your throat from thirst. But you said, ‘It is hopeless, for I have loved foreigners, and after them I will go.’ (Çık 17:6; Yas 29:5; Yas 32:16; Yer 3:13) 26 “As a thief is shamed when caught, so the house of Israel shall be shamed: they, their kings, their officials, their priests, and their prophets, (Yer 8:1; Yer 13:13; Yer 32:32) 27 who say to a tree, ‘You are my father,’ and to a stone, ‘You gave me birth.’ For they have turned their back to me, and not their face. But in the time of their trouble they say, ‘Arise and save us!’ (Hak 10:9; Yşa 26:16) 28 But where are your gods that you made for yourself? Let them arise, if they can save you, in your time of trouble; for as many as your cities are your gods, O Judah. (Yas 32:37; Yşa 45:20; Yer 11:13) 29 “Why do you contend with me? You have all transgressed against me, declares the Lord. 30 In vain have I struck your children; they took no correction; your own sword devoured your prophets like a ravening lion. (Neh 9:26; Yşa 1:5; Yşa 9:13; Yer 5:3; 1 Se 2:15) 31 And you, O generation, behold the word of the Lord. Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of thick darkness? Why then do my people say, ‘We are free, we will come no more to you’? 32 Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? Yet my people have forgotten me days without number. (Yas 32:18; Mez 106:21; Yşa 3:20; Yşa 17:10; Yşa 61:10; Yer 3:21; Yer 18:15; Hoş 8:14) 33 “How well you direct your course to seek love! So that even to wicked women you have taught your ways. 34 Also on your skirts is found the lifeblood of the guiltless poor; you did not find them breaking in. Yet in spite of all these things (Çık 22:2; 2 Kr 21:16; 2 Kr 24:4; Mez 106:38; Yer 19:4) 35 you say, ‘I am innocent; surely his anger has turned from me.’ Behold, I will bring you to judgment for saying, ‘I have not sinned.’ (Mez 143:2; Özd 28:13; 1 Yu 1:8; 1 Yu 1:10) 36 How much you go about, changing your way! You shall be put to shame by Egypt as you were put to shame by Assyria. (Yşa 30:3; Yer 31:22) 37 From it too you will come away with your hands on your head, for the Lord has rejected those in whom you trust, and you will not prosper by them. (2 Sa 13:19)
