1 Schaffe mir Recht, o Gott, und führe meine Sache gegen ein unbarmherziges Volk; errette mich von dem Mann der Lüge und des Unrechts! (2Sam 15,31; Ps 26,1; Ps 35,23; Ps 54,3; Ps 71,4) 2 Denn du bist der Gott, der mich schützt; warum verwirfst du mich? Warum muss ich trauernd einhergehen, weil mein Feind mich bedrängt? (Ps 37,39; Ps 42,10) 3 Sende dein Licht und deine Wahrheit, dass sie mich leiten, mich bringen zu deinem heiligen Berg und zu deinen Wohnungen, (Ps 15,1; Ps 27,1; Ps 86,11) 4 dass ich komme zum Altar Gottes, zu dem Gott, der meine Freude und Wonne ist, und dich preise auf der Laute, o Gott, mein Gott! (Ps 26,6; Ps 57,8; Hab 3,18) 5 Was betrübst du dich, meine Seele, und bist so unruhig in mir? Harre auf Gott, denn ich werde ihm noch danken, dass er meine Rettung und mein Gott ist! (Ps 42,6; Ps 42,12)

1 Schaffe mir Recht, Gott, / und führe meine Sache wider das treulose Volk und errette mich von den falschen und bösen Leuten! 2 Denn du bist der Gott meiner Stärke: Warum hast du mich verstoßen? Warum muss ich so traurig gehen, wenn mein Feind mich drängt? 3 Sende dein Licht und deine Wahrheit, dass sie mich leiten und bringen zu deinem heiligen Berg und zu deiner Wohnung, 4 dass ich hineingehe zum Altar Gottes, / zu dem Gott, der meine Freude und Wonne ist, und dir, Gott, auf der Harfe danke, mein Gott. 5 Was betrübst du dich, meine Seele, und bist so unruhig in mir? Harre auf Gott; denn ich werde ihm noch danken, dass er meines Angesichts Hilfe und mein Gott ist.

1 Verschaffe mir Recht, mein Gott! / Verteidige mich gegen ein treuloses Volk! / Lass mich den Lügnern und Betrügern entkommen! 2 Du warst doch immer mein Schutz. / Warum hast du mich verstoßen? / Warum ist alles dunkel um mich, / warum bedrängt mich der Feind? 3 Sende dein Licht und deine Wahrheit, / dass sie mich leiten, / mich bringen zu deinem heiligen Berg, / zu den Orten deiner Gegenwart; 4 dass ich komme zu Gottes Altar, / zum Gott meiner jubelnden Freude / und dich mit Zitherspiel preise, Gott, mein Gott! 5 Was bist du so verwirrt, meine Seele, / was stöhnst du in mir? / Hoffe auf Gott! / Denn ich werde ihn noch preisen, / ihn, meine Hilfe und meinen Gott!

1 Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me! (1Sam 24,15; Ps 5,6; Ps 7,8; Ps 26,1) 2 For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? (Ps 31,4; Ps 42,9; Ps 44,9) 3 Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling! (Ps 2,6; Ps 40,11; Ps 46,4; Ps 57,3; Ps 84,1) 4 Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God. 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. (Ps 42,5; Ps 42,11)

1 My God, when you hand down your decision, let it be in my favour. Stand up for me against an unfaithful nation. Save me from those lying and sinful people. 2 You are God, my place of safety. Why have you turned your back on me? Why must I go around in sorrow? Why am I beaten down by my enemies? 3 Send me your light and your faithful care. Let them lead me. Let them bring me back to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. 4 Then I will go to the altar of God. I will go to God. He is my joy and my delight. God, you are my God. I will praise you by playing the lyre. 5 My spirit, why are you so sad? Why are you so upset deep down inside me? Put your hope in God. Once again I will have reason to praise him. He is my Saviour and my God.
