Die Klage des Propheten vor dem Herrn

1 Die Last, die der Prophet Habakuk^[1] geschaut hat: (Jer 20,7; Hebr 1,1) 2 Wie lange, o HERR, rufe ich [schon], ohne dass du hörst! Ich schreie zu dir [wegen des] Unrechts, und du hilfst nicht. (Ps 10,1; Ps 22,3; Kla 3,8; Hab 2,6; Offb 6,10)

3 Warum lässt du mich Bosheit sehen und schaust dem Unheil zu? Bedrückung und Gewalttat werden vor meinen Augen begangen; es entsteht Streit, und Zank erhebt sich. (Hi 21,7; Ps 55,10) 4 Darum wird das Gesetz kraftlos, und das Recht bricht nicht mehr durch; denn der Gottlose bedrängt den Gerechten von allen Seiten; darum kommt das Urteil verkehrt heraus! Die Antwort des Herrn: Ankündigung des Gerichts durch die Chaldäer

5 Seht euch um unter den Heidenvölkern und schaut umher; verwundert und entsetzt euch! Denn ich tue ein Werk in euren Tagen — ihr würdet es nicht glauben, wenn man es erzählte! (5Mo 4,32; Apg 13,40) 6 Denn siehe, ich erwecke die Chaldäer, ein bitterböses und ungestümes Volk, das die Weiten der Erde durchzieht, um Wohnsitze zu erobern, die ihm nicht gehören. (5Mo 28,49; 2Kön 24,2; Jer 6,22) 7 Es ist schrecklich und furchterregend; sein Recht und sein Ansehen gehen von ihm selbst aus. (Jes 47,10; Jer 50,38; Dan 2,31; Dan 7,7)

8 Schneller als Leoparden sind seine Rosse und rascher als Wölfe am Abend; seine Reiter kommen im Galopp daher, von fern her kommen seine Reiter; sie fliegen daher wie ein Adler, der sich auf den Fraß stürzt. (Jer 4,13; Kla 4,19) 9 Sie gehen alle auf Gewalttaten aus; ihre Angesichter streben [unaufhaltsam] vorwärts, und sie fegen Gefangene zusammen wie Sand. (Jer 5,17; Jer 51,46; Hab 2,5) 10 Es spottet über die Könige, und für Fürsten hat es nur Gelächter übrig; es lacht über alle Festungen, schüttet Erde auf und erobert sie. (Jes 14,16; Jer 32,24) 11 Dann fährt es daher wie ein Sturmwind, geht weiter und lädt Schuld auf sich; denn diese seine Kraft macht es zu seinem Gott. (Ps 107,25; Jes 5,28; Jer 4,13)

Habakuk bittet den Herrn um Begrenzung des Gerichts

13 Deine Augen sind so rein, dass sie das Böse nicht ansehen können; du kannst dem Unheil nicht zuschauen. Warum siehst du denn den Frevlern schweigend zu, während der Gottlose den verschlingt, der gerechter ist als er? (1Mo 44,34; Hi 15,15; Ps 28,1; Jes 42,14; Jes 64,11; Offb 1,14)

14 Du lässt die Menschen so behandeln wie die Fische im Meer, wie das Gewürm, das keinen Herrscher hat. (Ps 8,5) 15 Er fischt sie alle mit der Angel heraus, fängt sie mit seinem Netz und sammelt sie in sein Garn; darüber freut er sich und frohlockt. (Jer 16,16; Jer 50,11; Am 4,2) 16 Darum opfert er auch seinem Netz und bringt seinem Garn Räucherwerk dar; denn ihnen verdankt er seine fetten Bissen und seine kräftige Nahrung. (5Mo 8,17; Jes 10,13; Hab 1,11) 17 Darf er aber darum sein Netz beständig ausleeren und ohne Erbarmen Völker hinmorden? (Jes 33,1; Jer 25,12)

1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see. 2 O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save! 3 Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. 4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. 5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you . 6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs. 7 They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves. 8 Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat. 9 They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. 10 And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it. 11 Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god. 12 Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction. 13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he? 14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them? 15 They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad. 16 Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous. 17 Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?
