Voraussetzungen für den Dienst der Aufseher (Ältesten) in der Gemeinde
1Glaubwürdig ist das Wort: Wer nach einem Aufseherdienst trachtet, der begehrt eine vortreffliche Tätigkeit. (Apg 20,28; 1Thess 5,12; 1Tim 1,15; 2Tim 2,11)2Nun muss aber ein Aufseher untadelig sein, Mann einer Frau, nüchtern, besonnen, anständig, gastfreundlich, fähig zu lehren; (1Tim 3,12; 1Tim 5,9; 2Tim 2,24; Tit 1,7; Tit 1,8; Hebr 13,2)3nicht der Trunkenheit ergeben, nicht gewalttätig, nicht nach schändlichem Gewinn strebend, sondern gütig, nicht streitsüchtig, nicht geldgierig; (3Mo 10,9; Spr 20,1; Spr 31,4; 1Tim 6,9; 1Petr 5,2)4einer, der seinem eigenen Haus gut vorsteht und die Kinder in Unterordnung hält mit aller Ehrbarkeit (1Mo 18,19)5— wenn aber jemand seinem eigenen Haus nicht vorzustehen weiß, wie wird er für die Gemeinde Gottes sorgen? —, (1Sam 3,13)6kein Neubekehrter, damit er nicht aufgeblasen wird und in das Gericht des Teufels fällt. (5Mo 17,20; Sach 3,1; Lk 22,31; Offb 12,10)7Er muss aber auch ein gutes Zeugnis haben von denen außerhalb [der Gemeinde], damit er nicht in üble Nachrede und in die Fallstricke des Teufels gerät. (Apg 16,2; Kol 4,5; 2Tim 2,26; 1Petr 5,8)
Voraussetzung für den Dienst der Diakone
8Gleicherweise sollen auch die Diakone ehrbar sein, nicht doppelzüngig, nicht vielem Weingenuss ergeben, nicht nach schändlichem Gewinn strebend; (Ps 12,3; Hes 44,21; Phil 1,1; Tit 1,7; 1Petr 5,2)9sie sollen das Geheimnis des Glaubens in einem reinen Gewissen bewahren. (1Tim 1,19)10Und diese sollen zuerst erprobt werden; dann sollen sie dienen, wenn sie untadelig sind. (1Tim 5,22)11[Die] Frauen sollen ebenfalls ehrbar sein, nicht verleumderisch, sondern nüchtern, treu in allem. (Lk 16,10; Tit 2,3)12Die Diakone sollen jeder Mann einer Frau sein, ihren Kindern und ihrem Haus gut vorstehen; (1Tim 3,2; 1Tim 3,4)13denn wenn sie ihren Dienst gut versehen, erwerben sie sich selbst eine gute Stufe und viel Freimütigkeit im Glauben in Christus Jesus. 1This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;3Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;4One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;5(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)6Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.7Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.8Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;9Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.10And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.11Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.12Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.13For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.14These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:15But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.16And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
