Gott segnet Jakob in Bethel

1 Und Gott sprach zu Jakob: Mache dich auf, zieh hinauf nach Bethel und wohne dort und baue dort einen Altar für den Gott, der dir erschienen ist, als du vor deinem Bruder Esau geflohen bist! (1Mo 12,8; 1Mo 28,19; 1Mo 31,13; Ps 25,12)

2 Da sprach Jakob zu seinem Haus und zu allen, die bei ihm waren: Tut die fremden Götter von euch weg, die in eurer Mitte sind, und reinigt euch und wechselt eure Kleider! 3 So wollen wir uns aufmachen und nach Bethel hinaufziehen, dass ich dort einen Altar errichte für den Gott, der mir geantwortet hat zur Zeit meiner Not und der mit mir gewesen ist auf dem Weg, den ich gezogen bin! 4 Da lieferten sie Jakob alle fremden Götter aus, die in ihren Händen waren, samt den Ringen, die sie an ihren Ohren trugen, und Jakob verbarg sie unter der Terebinthe, die bei Sichem steht. (5Mo 7,5; Jos 24,23; 1Sam 7,4; Jes 2,20; Jes 30,22)

5 Danach brachen sie auf; und der Schrecken Gottes fiel auf die umliegenden Städte, sodass sie die Söhne Jakobs nicht verfolgten. (5Mo 11,25; 1Sam 14,15) 6 Als nun Jakob, er und das ganze Volk, das bei ihm war, nach Lus kamen — das ist Bethel —, das im Land Kanaan liegt, (1Mo 28,19; Ri 1,22) 7 da baute er dort einen Altar und nannte den Ort »El-Bethel«, weil sich Gott ihm dort geoffenbart hatte, als er vor seinem Bruder floh. 10 Und Gott sprach zu ihm: Dein Name ist Jakob, aber du sollst nicht mehr Jakob heißen, sondern Israel soll dein Name sein! Und so gab er ihm den Namen Israel. 13 Und Gott erhob sich von ihm an dem Ort, wo er mit ihm geredet hatte. 15 und Jakob gab dem Ort, wo Gott mit ihm geredet hatte, den Namen Bethel. (1Mo 28,19; 1Mo 35,7)

16 Danach brachen sie von Bethel auf; und als sie nur noch ein Stück Weg bis Ephrata zu gehen hatten, da gebar Rahel; und sie hatte eine schwere Geburt. (1Mo 3,16; 1Mo 35,19; 1Tim 2,15) 17 Als ihr aber die Geburt so schwer wurde, sprach die Hebamme zu ihr: Fürchte dich nicht; du hast auch diesmal einen Sohn! (1Mo 30,22; 1Sam 4,20) 18 Und es geschah, als ihr die Seele entschwand, weil sie am Sterben war, da gab sie ihm den Namen Benoni; sein Vater aber nannte ihn Benjamin. 20 Und Jakob stellte einen Gedenkstein auf über ihrem Grab; das ist Rahels Grabmal geblieben bis zu diesem Tag. (1Mo 35,14; 1Sam 10,2)

23 Jakob aber hatte zwölf Söhne. Die Söhne Leas waren diese: Ruben, der erstgeborene Sohn Jakobs, und Simeon und Levi und Juda und Issaschar und Sebulon; (2Mo 1,1; Hes 48,31; Offb 7,4) 24 die Söhne Rahels waren Joseph und Benjamin; (1Mo 30,24; 1Mo 46,19) 25 die Söhne Bilhas, der Magd Rahels: Dan und Naphtali; (1Mo 30,6; 1Mo 46,23) 26 die Söhne Silpas, der Magd Leas: Gad und Asser. 1 And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother. 2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: 3 And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. 4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem. 5 And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob. 6 So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is , Bethel, he and all the people that were with him. 7 And he built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother. 8 But Deborah Rebekah' nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbachuth. 9 And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him. 10 And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. 11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; 12 And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land. 13 And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him. 14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon. 15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel. 16 And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour. 17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also. 18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin. 19 And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem. 20 And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel' grave unto this day. 21 And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar. 22 And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father' concubine: and Israel heard it . Now the sons of Jacob were twelve: 23 The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob' firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun: 24 The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin: 25 And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel' handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali: 26 And the sons of Zilpah, Leah' handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padanaram. 27 And Jacob came unto Isaac his father unto Mamre, unto the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned. 28 And the days of Isaac were an hundred and fourscore years. 29 And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
