Die Vorlesung und Auslegung des Gesetzes vor dem Volk
1Und als der siebte Monat nahte und die Kinder Israels in ihren Städten waren, da versammelte sich das ganze Volk wie ein Mann auf dem Platz vor dem Wassertor, und sie sprachen zu Esra, dem Schriftgelehrten, dass er das Buch des Gesetzes Moses holen solle, das der HERR Israel geboten hatte. (Esr 3,1; Esr 7,6; Neh 3,26; Neh 12,37)2Und Esra, der Priester, brachte das Gesetz vor die Gemeinde, vor die Männer und Frauen und alle, die Verständnis hatten, um zuzuhören,[1] am ersten Tag des siebten Monats.[2] (3Mo 23,24; 5Mo 31,9; 2Chr 17,7; Jes 28,9; Apg 8,30; Apg 15,4; Apg 15,22)3Und er las daraus vor auf dem Platz, der vor dem Wassertor ist, vom hellen Morgen bis zum Mittag, vor den Männern und Frauen und allen, die es verstehen konnten; und die Ohren des ganzen Volkes waren auf das Buch des Gesetzes gerichtet. (2Mo 15,26; Jes 32,3; Jes 50,4; Lk 4,16; Lk 8,18; Lk 11,28; Apg 13,15; Apg 13,27; Apg 20,11; Apg 28,23; 1Thess 2,13; Hebr 2,1; Jak 1,19; Offb 2,29)4Esra aber, der Schriftgelehrte, stand auf einer hölzernen Kanzel, die man zu diesem Zweck errichtet hatte, und neben ihm standen Mattitja, Schema, Anaja, Urija, Hilkija und Maaseja zu seiner Rechten, und zu seiner Linken Pedaja, Misael, Malkija, Haschum, Hasbaddana, Sacharja und Meschullam. (2Chr 6,13; Neh 10,2; Neh 10,8)5Und Esra öffnete das Buch vor den Augen des ganzen Volkes; denn er stand höher als das ganze Volk. Und als er es öffnete, stand das ganze Volk auf. (Ri 3,20; 1Kön 8,14; Lk 4,17)6Und Esra pries den HERRN, den großen Gott; und das ganze Volk antwortete mit aufgehobenen Händen: Amen! Amen! Und sie verneigten sich und beteten den HERRN an, das Angesicht zur Erde gewandt. (1Chr 16,36; 2Chr 6,3; 2Chr 20,18; 2Chr 30,8; Ps 95,3; Ps 134,2; Ps 135,5; 1Kor 14,16)7Und Jeschua, Bani, Serebja, Jamin, Akkub, Sabbetai, Hodija, Maaseja, Kelita, Asarja, Josabad, Hanan, Pelaja, die Leviten, erklärten dem Volk das Gesetz, während das Volk an seinem Platz blieb. (3Mo 10,11; 2Chr 17,7; Mal 2,7)8Und sie lasen aus dem Buch des Gesetzes Gottes deutlich vor und erklärten den Sinn, sodass man das Gelesene verstand. (5Mo 33,10; Mal 2,7; Lk 24,27; Lk 24,45)
Das Laubhüttenfest wird gefeiert
9Und Nehemia — das ist der Statthalter — und Esra, der Priester, der Schriftgelehrte, und die Leviten, die das Volk lehrten, sprachen zu dem ganzen Volk: Dieser Tag ist dem HERRN, eurem Gott, heilig! Darum seid nicht traurig und weint nicht! Denn das ganze Volk weinte, als es die Worte des Gesetzes hörte. (3Mo 23,24; 4Mo 29,1; 5Mo 16,14; 2Chr 34,19; Pred 3,4; 2Kor 7,9; Phil 4,4)10Darum sprach er zu ihnen: Geht hin, esst Fettes und trinkt Süßes und sendet Teile davon auch denen, die nichts für sich zubereitet haben; denn dieser Tag ist unserem Herrn heilig; darum seid nicht bekümmert, denn die Freude am HERRN ist eure Stärke! (2Mo 15,2; 5Mo 26,12; 1Chr 16,27; Esr 8,22; Est 9,22; Ps 81,2; Ps 89,16; Spr 17,22; Pred 9,7; Hl 5,1; Jes 12,1)11Und die Leviten beruhigten das ganze Volk und sprachen: Seid still, denn der Tag ist heilig; seid nicht bekümmert! (4Mo 13,30; Neh 8,9)12Und das ganze Volk ging hin, um zu essen und zu trinken und Teile davon zu senden und ein großes Freudenfest zu machen; denn sie hatten die Worte verstanden, die man ihnen verkündigt hatte. (Neh 8,7; Jer 15,16; Lk 24,32)13Und am zweiten Tag versammelten sich die Familienhäupter des ganzen Volkes, die Priester und die Leviten zu Esra, dem Schriftgelehrten, damit er sie in den Worten des Gesetzes unterrichte. (Apg 13,44)14Und sie fanden im Gesetz, das der HERR durch Mose geboten hatte, geschrieben, dass die Kinder Israels am Fest im siebten Monat in Laubhütten wohnen sollten. (3Mo 23,34; 5Mo 16,13)15Und so ließen sie es verkünden und in allen ihren Städten und in Jerusalem ausrufen und sagen: Geht hinaus auf die Berge und holt Ölzweige, Zweige vom wilden Ölbaum, Myrtenzweige, Palmzweige und Zweige von dicht belaubten Bäumen, um Laubhütten zu machen, wie es geschrieben steht! (3Mo 23,26; 3Mo 23,40)16Und das Volk ging hinaus, und sie holten [die Zweige] und machten sich Laubhütten, jeder auf seinem Dach und in ihren Höfen und in den Höfen am Haus Gottes und auf dem Platz am Wassertor und auf dem Platz am Tor Ephraim. (5Mo 22,8; 2Kön 14,13; Neh 8,1; Neh 8,3; Ps 84,2)17Und die ganze Gemeinde derer, die aus der Gefangenschaft zurückgekehrt waren, machte Laubhütten und wohnte in den Hütten. Denn die Kinder Israels hatten es seit der Zeit Josuas, des Sohnes Nuns, bis zu diesem Tag nicht so gemacht. Und sie hatten sehr große Freude. (2Chr 30,26)18Und es wurde im Buch des Gesetzes Gottes gelesen Tag für Tag, vom ersten Tag bis zum letzten Tag. Und sie feierten das Fest sieben Tage lang, und am achten Tag war eine Festversammlung, nach der Vorschrift. (3Mo 23,36; 5Mo 31,10; Joh 7,37)
1And all the people gathered as one man into the square before the Water Gate. And they told Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses that the Lord had commanded Israel. (Esr 7,6; Neh 3,26)2So Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could understand what they heard, on the first day of the seventh month. (3Mo 23,24; 5Mo 31,11)3And he read from it facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law. (Neh 13,1)4And Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right hand, and Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam on his left hand.5And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was above all the people, and as he opened it all the people stood.6And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God, and all the people answered, “Amen, Amen,” lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground. (2Chr 20,18; Neh 5,13; Ps 134,2; Kla 3,41; 1Tim 2,8)7Also Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, the Levites,[1] helped the people to understand the Law, while the people remained in their places. (2Chr 35,3; Neh 9,3; Neh 9,4)8They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly,[2] and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading.
This Day Is Holy
9And Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law. (3Mo 23,24; 4Mo 29,1; Esr 2,63; Neh 7,65; Neh 7,70; Neh 8,2; Neh 10,1; Neh 12,26; Pred 3,4)10Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Est 9,19; Est 9,22)11So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be quiet, for this day is holy; do not be grieved.”12And all the people went their way to eat and drink and to send portions and to make great rejoicing, because they had understood the words that were declared to them. (Neh 8,7)
Feast of Booths Celebrated
13On the second day the heads of fathers’ houses of all the people, with the priests and the Levites, came together to Ezra the scribe in order to study the words of the Law.14And they found it written in the Law that the Lord had commanded by Moses that the people of Israel should dwell in booths[3] during the feast of the seventh month, (3Mo 23,34; 3Mo 23,40; 3Mo 23,42)15and that they should proclaim it and publish it in all their towns and in Jerusalem, “Go out to the hills and bring branches of olive, wild olive, myrtle, palm, and other leafy trees to make booths, as it is written.” (3Mo 23,4; 3Mo 23,40; 5Mo 16,16)16So the people went out and brought them and made booths for themselves, each on his roof, and in their courts and in the courts of the house of God, and in the square at the Water Gate and in the square at the Gate of Ephraim. (1Sam 9,25; 2Kön 14,13; 2Chr 25,23; Neh 3,26; Neh 8,1; Neh 8,3; Neh 12,39)17And all the assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and lived in the booths, for from the days of Jeshua the son of Nun to that day the people of Israel had not done so. And there was very great rejoicing. (1Kön 8,2; 2Chr 7,9; 2Chr 8,13; 2Chr 30,21; Esr 3,4)18And day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read from the Book of the Law of God. They kept the feast seven days, and on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly, according to the rule. (3Mo 23,36; 4Mo 29,35; 5Mo 31,10)
