6 Und Mose sprach zu den Söhnen Gads und zu den Söhnen Rubens: Sollen eure Brüder etwa in den Kampf ziehen, und ihr wollt hierbleiben? 12 ausgenommen Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnes, der Kenisiter, und Josua, der Sohn Nuns; denn sie sind dem HERRN völlig nachgefolgt. (4Mo 14,22; Hebr 3,16) 13 So entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN über Israel, und er ließ sie in der Wüste hin und her ziehen 40 Jahre lang, bis die ganze Generation aufgerieben war, die Böses getan hatte in den Augen des HERRN. (5Mo 2,14; Ps 78,33; 1Kor 10,5) 14 Und siehe, ihr seid anstelle eurer Väter aufgekommen, eine Brut von sündigen Männern, um die Zornglut des HERRN gegen Israel noch größer zu machen! 16 Da traten sie zu ihm und sprachen: Wir wollen nur Schafhürden für unsere Herden hier bauen, und Städte für unsere Kinder. (4Mo 32,36) 17 Wir aber wollen uns [zum Kampf] rüsten und eilends voranziehen vor den Kindern Israels, bis wir sie an ihren Ort gebracht haben; unsere Kinder sollen in den verschlossenen Städten bleiben um der Einwohner des Landes willen. (Jos 4,12) 18 Wir wollen nicht heimkehren, bis die Kinder Israels jeder sein Erbteil eingenommen haben. 21 so zieht, wer unter euch gerüstet ist, über den Jordan vor dem HERRN, bis er seine Feinde vor seinem Angesicht vertrieben hat. (Jos 1,12; Jos 4,12) 22 Wenn dann das Land vor dem HERRN unterworfen ist, dann erst sollt ihr umkehren; so werdet ihr vor dem HERRN und vor Israel unschuldig sein, und dieses Land soll euer Besitztum werden vor dem HERRN! 27 wir aber, deine Knechte, alle die zum Heereszug gerüstet sind, wollen in den Kampf ziehen vor dem HERRN, wie mein Herr befiehlt! (Röm 12,10; 1Petr 4,10) 28 Da gebot Mose ihretwegen Eleasar, dem Priester, und Josua, dem Sohn Nuns, und den Familienhäuptern der Stämme der Kinder Israels; (4Mo 32,29) 29 und Mose sprach zu ihnen: Wenn die Söhne Gads und die Söhne Rubens mit euch über den Jordan ziehen, alle, die zum Kampf gerüstet sind vor dem HERRN, und das Land vor euch unterworfen ist, so gebt ihnen das Land Gilead zum Besitz. (4Mo 32,24) 30 Ziehen sie aber nicht gerüstet mit euch, so sollen sie sich unter euch im Land Kanaan ansiedeln. 39 Und die Söhne Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses, zogen nach Gilead und nahmen es ein und vertrieben die Amoriter, die darin wohnten. Reuben and Gad Settle in Gilead

1 Now the people of Reuben and the people of Gad had a very great number of livestock. And they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for livestock. Do not take us across the Jordan.” 6 But Moses said to the people of Gad and to the people of Reuben, “Shall your brothers go to the war while you sit here? 7 Why will you discourage the heart of the people of Israel from going over into the land that the Lord has given them? 8 Your fathers did this, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land. 13 And the Lord’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone. 16 Then they came near to him and said, “We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones, (4Mo 32,24) 17 but we will take up arms, ready to go before the people of Israel, until we have brought them to their place. And our little ones shall live in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land. (Jos 4,12) 18 We will not return to our homes until each of the people of Israel has gained his inheritance. (4Mo 27,18; Jos 1,13) 29 And Moses said to them, “If the people of Gad and the people of Reuben, every man who is armed to battle before the Lord, will pass with you over the Jordan and the land shall be subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession. 30 However, if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.” 31 And the people of Gad and the people of Reuben answered, “What the Lord has said to your servants, we will do. 32 We will pass over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan.” 33 And Moses gave to them, to the people of Gad and to the people of Reuben and to the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land and its cities with their territories, the cities of the land throughout the country. (4Mo 32,3; 4Mo 32,17) 37 And the people of Reuben built Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim, (4Mo 21,27; 4Mo 32,3; 4Mo 32,34) 38 Nebo, and Baal-meon (their names were changed), and Sibmah.
