Psalm 16

English Standard Version

od Crossway
1 Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.[1] (Ps 11,1)2 I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” (Ps 73,25)3 As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.[2] (Wj 19,6; Pwt 7,6; 1 P 2,9)4 The sorrows of those who run after[3] another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips. (Wj 23,13; Joz 23,7)5 The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. (Lb 18,20; Pwt 32,9; Ps 23,5; Ps 73,26; Ps 116,13; Ps 119,57; Ps 125,3; Ps 142,5; Jer 10,16; Jer 51,19; Lm 3,24)6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. (Mi 2,5)7 I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.[4] (1 Sm 23,9; 2 Sm 5,18; 2 Sm 5,19; Ps 7,9; Ps 17,3; Ps 42,8)8 I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. (Ps 10,6; Ps 15,5; Ps 109,31; Ps 110,5; Ps 119,30; Ps 121,5; Dz 2,25)9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being[5] rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. (Rdz 49,6; Ps 30,12; Ps 57,8; Ps 108,1)10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.[6] (Job 21,13; Ps 49,9; Ps 89,18; Ps 103,4; Mk 1,24; Dz 13,35)11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Ps 21,6; Ps 36,8; Mt 7,14)
