1Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (Ps 100,5; Ps 105,1)2Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble[1] (Ps 106,10; Iz 62,12; Iz 63,4)3and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. (Pwt 30,3; Ps 106,47; Iz 11,12; Iz 43,5; Iz 56,8; Jer 29,14; Jer 31,8; Jer 31,10; Ez 20,34; Ez 20,41; Ez 39,27)4Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; (Pwt 32,10; Ps 107,36; Ps 107,40)5hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. (Ps 77,3)6Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. (Ps 106,44; Ps 107,19; Ps 107,28)7He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in. (Ezd 8,21; Ps 107,4)8Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! (Ps 107,21; Ps 107,31)9For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things. (Ps 34,10; Ps 146,7; Łk 1,53)10Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and in irons, (Job 10,21; Job 36,8; Ps 107,14; Iz 42,7; Iz 49,9; Mi 7,8; Łk 1,79)11for they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High. (Pwt 31,20; Ps 78,40; Ps 106,7; Ps 106,33; Ps 106,43; Przyp 1,30; Przyp 5,12; Przyp 15,5; Łk 7,30)12So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor; they fell down, with none to help. (Ps 22,11)13Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. (Ps 107,19; Ps 107,28)14He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart. (Ps 2,3; Ps 10,1)15Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! (Ps 107,21; Ps 107,31)16For he shatters the doors of bronze and cuts in two the bars of iron. (Iz 45,2)17Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction; (Przyp 1,7; Przyp 14,9)18they loathed any kind of food, and they drew near to the gates of death. (Job 33,20; Job 33,22; Job 38,17; Ps 88,3)19Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. (Ps 107,13; Ps 107,28)20He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. (2 Krl 20,5; Job 33,29; Job 33,30; Ps 30,2; Ps 30,3; Ps 103,4; Ps 147,15; Ps 147,18; Mt 8,8)21Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! (Ps 107,15; Ps 107,31)22And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of joy! (Ps 9,11; Ps 50,14; Ps 105,43; Ps 118,17)23Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters; (Iz 42,10)24they saw the deeds of the LORD, his wondrous works in the deep.25For he commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea. (Ps 105,31; Ps 105,34; Ps 148,8; Jon 1,4)26They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight; (Ps 22,14; Ps 119,28)27they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits’ end.[2] (Job 12,25; Iz 19,3; Iz 24,20; Iz 29,9)28Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. (Ps 107,13; Ps 107,19)29He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. (Ps 65,7)30Then they were glad that the waters[3] were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.31Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! (Ps 107,15; Ps 107,21)32Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders. (Ps 22,22; Ps 22,25; Ps 99,5)33He turns rivers into a desert, springs of water into thirsty ground, (Iz 42,15; Iz 50,2)34a fruitful land into a salty waste, because of the evil of its inhabitants. (Rdz 13,10; Rdz 14,3; Pwt 29,23)35He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water. (Job 38,26; Job 38,27; Ps 114,8; Iz 35,6; Iz 35,7; Iz 41,18; Iz 43,19; Iz 43,20)36And there he lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in; (Ps 107,4)37they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield.38By his blessing they multiply greatly, and he does not let their livestock diminish. (Rdz 12,2; Rdz 17,20; Wj 1,7)39When they are diminished and brought low through oppression, evil, and sorrow,40he pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes; (Pwt 32,10; Job 12,21; Job 12,24)41but he raises up the needy out of affliction and makes their families like flocks. (1 Sm 2,8; Job 21,11; Ps 113,7; Ps 113,8)42The upright see it and are glad, and all wickedness shuts its mouth. (Job 22,19; Ps 63,11)43Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things; let them consider the steadfast love of the LORD. (Ps 64,9; Jer 9,12; Oz 14,9)
