di Biblica1Figli, ubbidite ai vostri genitori, perché è stato Dio stesso che ha stabilito la loro autorità su di voi, e questa è senzʼaltro una regola giusta.2«Onora tuo padre e tua madre», questo è il primo dei dieci comandamenti di Dio accompagnato da una promessa.3E questa è la promessa se onorate vostro padre e vostra madre, «avrete una vita lunga e ricca di benedizioni sulla terra».4Ed ora un suggerimento per voi genitori. Non esasperate i vostri figli, allevateli piuttosto con amore e disciplina, con suggerimenti e consigli che vengono dal Signore.5Servi, ubbidite ai vostri padroni, cercando di fare del vostro meglio, con premura e rispetto, come se serviste Cristo stesso.6-7Non lavorate sodo soltanto quando il padrone vi guarda per poi battere la fiacca quando è lontano. Lavorate con impegno e serenamente tutto il giorno, come se lavoraste per Cristo, e non per gli uomini, facendo la volontà di Dio con tutto il vostro cuore.8Ricordatevi, schiavi o liberi che siate, il Signore vi ripagherà per ogni buona azione che fate.9E voi, padroni, fate altrettanto verso i vostri schiavi. Non maltrattateli e ricordatevi che voi stessi siete schiavi di Cristo, e in cielo avete lo stesso padrone che hanno loro, un padrone che non fa differenze personali.
La vostra forza viene soltanto da Dio
10Per ultima cosa voglio ricordarvi che dovete prendere forza dal Signore, dalla sua potenza straordinaria.11Indossate tutta lʼarmatura di Dio per poter resistere a tutte le manovre e ai tranelli del diavolo.12Infatti, noi non combattiamo contro persone in carne e ossa, ma contro spiriti senza corpo, contro potenti esseri diabolici, prìncipi malvagi delle tenebre, che dominano questo mondo; e contro gli spiriti maligni che sono nel mondo invisibile dello spirito.13Perciò, servitevi di ogni parte dellʼarmatura di Dio per poter far fronte al nemico nel giorno della lotta, e per poter restare in piedi, dopo aver compiuto tutto il vostro dovere.14Ma per far questo avete bisogno della forte cintura della verità, della corazza della giustizia di Dio15e dei sandali che vi rendono veloci a predicare il Vangelo della pace di Dio.16In tutte le battaglie servitevi dello scudo della fede, con cui potete spegnere le frecce infuocate di Satana.17Prendete anche lʼelmo della salvezza e la spada dello Spirito Santo, che è la parola di Dio.18Pregate sempre: chiedete a Dio il suo aiuto in ogni occasione e in tutti i modi, lasciandovi guidare dallo Spirito Santo. Supplicatelo, ricordandogli le vostre necessità, e continuate a pregare con convinzione per tutti i cristiani.19Pregate anche per me e chiedete a Dio di darmi le parole giuste per far conoscere la verità del suo messaggio.20Ora sono ambasciatore in catene per aver predicato questo messaggio da Dio, ma pregate che possa continuare a parlare coraggiosamente di lui anche qui in prigione, come è mio dovere.21Tìchico, il nostro caro fratello e collaboratore fedele nel lavoro del Signore, vi dirà tutto.22Ve lʼho mandato apposta, perché sappiate come stiamo e vi sia dʼincoraggiamento.23Cari fratelli cristiani, che Dio Padre e il nostro Signore Gesù Cristo vi diano pace, amore e fede.24La grazia sia con tutti quelli che amano sinceramente il nostro Signore Gesù Cristo. Bondservants and Masters
5Bondservants,[1] obey your earthly masters[2] with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, (2Co 11,3; Ef 5,22; 1P 2,18)6not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, (Ga 1,10)7rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man,8knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. (Sal 62,12; Ga 3,28; Col 3,11)9Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master[3] and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him. The Whole Armor of God
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. (Ro 4,20; Ef 1,19; Ef 3,16; 2Ti 2,1; 1G 2,14)11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. (Giob 29,14; Ro 13,12; 2Co 10,4; Ef 4,14; Ef 6,13; Ef 6,14)12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (Lu 22,53; 1Co 9,25; Ef 1,3; Ef 1,21; Ef 2,2; Ef 3,10; Col 1,13)13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. (Ef 5,16; 1P 4,1)14Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, (Is 11,5; Is 59,17; Is 61,10; Lu 12,35; 2Co 6,7; 1Te 5,8; 1P 1,13)15and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
