Salmo de David. Quando se escondeu numa caverna, fugindo de Saul. Para o diretor do coro. Poema de instrução.

1 Tem piedade de mim, ó Deus! Tem piedade, porque a minha alma em ti se refugia. Eu abrigo-me à sombra das tuas asas, até que passem as calamidades. (Sl 108:2) 2 Clamarei ao Deus altíssimo, e que tudo faz por mim. 3 Ele enviará lá do alto o seu auxílio, para me salvar dos que querem devorar-me; (Pausa) Deus enviará o seu amor e a sua fidelidade. 4 Estou rodeado de leões ferozes, de gente violenta com dentes mais afiados que punhais, e cuja língua é uma faca cortante. 5 Ó Deus, engrandece-te acima dos céus! Que a tua glória brilhe sobre toda a Terra! 6 Puseram uma rede no meu caminho; a minha alma ficou abatida com temores. Abriram uma cova para que eu caísse, mas afinal foram eles que vieram a cair nela. (Pausa) 7 O meu coração está pronto, ó Deus; não é de surpreender que te cante salmos. 8 Desperta, minha alma! Que a harpa e a lira comecem a tocar! Eu mesmo, ao romper do dia, cantarei a Deus. 9 Louvar-te-ei diante dos povos, Senhor; no meio das nações cantar-te-ei salmos. 10 Pois a tua misericórdia chega aos céus e a tua fidelidade até às nuvens. 11 Sim, ó Deus, engrandece-te acima dos céus! Que a tua glória brilhe sobre toda a Terra!

Let Your Glory Be over All the Earth

To the choirmaster: according to Do Not Destroy. A Miktam of David, when he fled from Saul, in the cave.

1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.^[1] (Sl 4:1; Sl 17:8; Sl 56:1; Sl 91:4; Is 26:20)

2 I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. (Sl 138:8) 3 He will send from heaven and save me; he will put to shame him who tramples on me. Selah God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness! (Sl 18:16; Sl 36:5; Sl 40:11; Sl 43:3; Sl 56:1; Sl 144:5; Sl 144:7)

4 My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down amid fiery beasts— the children of man, whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. (Sl 52:2; Sl 55:21; Sl 58:6; Sl 59:7; Sl 64:3; Pv 12:18; Pv 30:14; Jr 9:8)

5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! (Sl 108:5; Sl 113:4) 6 They set a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down. They dug a pit in my way, but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah (Jó 18:8; Sl 7:15; Sl 145:14; Sl 146:8)

7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast! I will sing and make melody! (Sl 108:1; Sl 112:7) 8 Awake, my glory!^[2] Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! (Jz 5:12; 1 Cr 15:16; Sl 16:9) 9 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. 10 For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. (Sl 36:5) 11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! (Sl 5:1)
