1E Deus diz: “Fui procurado pelos que nunca antes tinham inquirido sobre mim. Os que nunca antes me tinham buscado, agora me acham. A uma nação que não invocava o meu nome disse: ‘Estou aqui! Estou aqui!’2Continuamente estendi as minhas mãos a um povo rebelde e desobediente, que anda por um caminho que não é bom e busca seguir os seus próprios pensamentos.3Todo o dia me insultam no rosto, adorando ídolos nos seus muitos jardins e queimando incenso em altares de tijolo.4À noite saem por entre as campas dos cemitérios e cavernas para consultar os espíritos dos mortos; comem carne de porco e outros alimentos proibidos.5Apesar disso, ainda são capazes de dizer uns para os outros: ‘Não te aproximes de mim, afasta-te! Sou mais santo do que tu!’ Dia após dia, o fumo de toda aquela maldade cada vez mais me enfurece.6Vejam, esta é a minha decisão! Não ficarei silencioso perante isso! Darei a paga!7Sim, castigá-los-ei, e não somente pelos seus próprios pecados, mas pelos dos seus pais também, diz o SENHOR, porque também eles queimaram incenso e me insultaram sobre os montes. Dar-lhes-ei inteiramente a recompensa que merecem.8Contudo, não os destruirei completamente, diz o SENHOR. Porque tal como se encontram uvas sãs num cacho que aparentemente estava todo podre, não destruirei Israel inteiramente, porque existem lá no meio verdadeiros servos meus. Acontece até haver sempre alguém que diz: ‘Não as deites fora a todas, pois ainda prometem algum vinho!’9Conservarei um resto do povo de Jacob, para que possua o meu monte santo; dá-lo-ei àqueles que escolhi e ali os meus servos habitarão.10Para aqueles de entre o meu povo que me têm procurado, os verdes prados de Sarom ainda se encherão de rebanhos e o fértil vale de Acor[1] acolherá muito gado.11Para todos os outros que abandonaram o SENHOR e se esqueceram do meu santo monte, e adoraram os deuses da sorte e do destino,12a vossa sorte será a espada e o vosso destino bem negro. Porque quando chamei não me responderam, quando falei não quiseram ouvir-me. Pecaram deliberadamente perante os meus próprios olhos, escolhendo conscientemente aquilo que bem sabiam que eu detestava.13Por isso, diz o SENHOR Deus: Vocês hão de passar fome. Quanto àqueles que querem servir-me, esses comerão à sua vontade. Vocês terão sede, mas eles beberão até se saciarem. Vocês terão vergonha e tristeza, enquanto eles se alegrarão.14Vocês chorarão de pesar, vergonha e desespero, enquanto eles cantarão de alegria.15O vosso nome tornar-se-á como uma maldição entre o meu povo, porque o SENHOR Deus vos matará e aos que o servem chamará por um outro nome.16Ainda hão de vir os dias em que todos os que invocam uma bênção ou fazem um juramento o farão sempre pelo Deus da verdade, visto que porei de lado a minha ira e me esquecerei do mal que fizeram.
Novos céus e nova Terra
17Ouçam bem! Vou criar novos céus e nova Terra! E serão tão maravilhosos que ninguém mais se lembrará dos anteriores!18Alegrem-se! Folguem para sempre com a minha criação! Vejam! Tornarei a criar Jerusalém como um lugar de felicidade e o seu povo viverá em gozo!19Terei plena alegria em Jerusalém e no meu povo! Nunca mais ali se ouvirá nem a voz do choro nem a dos lamentos!20Nunca mais morrerão ali crianças com apenas alguns dias de vida! Nunca mais se considerará velha uma pessoa de 100 anos! Só os pecadores morrerão jovens!21Naqueles dias, construirão casas e habitarão nelas; plantarão vinhas e comerão o seu fruto.22Não construirão casas para que outros nelas habitem, nem plantarão vinhas para que outros delas comam. O meu povo viverá longos anos como as árvores e os meus escolhidos desfrutarão alegremente do fruto do seu labor.23Não mais trabalharão inutilmente e as suas crianças não crescerão para virem a tornar-se vítimas da guerra, visto que são descendência bendita do SENHOR, tanto elas como os seus filhos.24Responderei às suas orações, ainda antes de as terem formulado. Quando estiverem a falar comigo, apresentando as suas necessidades, adiantar-me-ei e responderei às suas orações.25O lobo e o cordeirinho comerão juntos; o leão comerá palha como o boi e o pó será o alimento da serpente. Nesses dias, nada nem ninguém será ferido ou destruído em todo o meu santo monte!”, diz o SENHOR.
1I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me; I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me. I said, “Here I am, here I am,” to a nation that was not called by[1] my name. (Is 2:2; Is 18:7; Is 19:19; Is 19:25; Zc 14:16; Rm 10:20; Ef 2:12)2I spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices; (Rm 10:21)3a people who provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens and making offerings on bricks; (Is 1:29; Is 57:3; Is 66:17)4who sit in tombs, and spend the night in secret places; who eat pig’s flesh, and broth of tainted meat is in their vessels; (Is 66:17)5who say, “Keep to yourself, do not come near me, for I am too holy for you.” These are a smoke in my nostrils, a fire that burns all the day. (Is 1:31; Is 9:18)6Behold, it is written before me: “I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will indeed repay into their lap (Sl 50:3; Sl 79:12; Jr 2:22; Jr 16:18; Jr 17:1)7both your iniquities and your fathers’ iniquities together, says the Lord; because they made offerings on the mountains and insulted me on the hills, I will measure into their lap payment for their former deeds.”[2] (Ex 20:5; Ez 20:27; Mt 23:35)8Thus says the Lord: “As the new wine is found in the cluster, and they say, ‘Do not destroy it, for there is a blessing in it,’ so I will do for my servants’ sake, and not destroy them all. (Is 2:21; Is 17:6)9I will bring forth offspring from Jacob, and from Judah possessors of my mountains; my chosen shall possess it, and my servants shall dwell there. (Is 27:6; Is 37:31)10Sharon shall become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down, for my people who have sought me. (Js 7:26; Is 33:9; Is 35:2; Is 51:1; Os 2:15)11But you who forsake the Lord, who forget my holy mountain, who set a table for Fortune and fill cups of mixed wine for Destiny, (Js 24:20; Is 65:25; Ez 23:41; Jl 3:17; 1 Co 10:21)12I will destine you to the sword, and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter, because, when I called, you did not answer; when I spoke, you did not listen, but you did what was evil in my eyes and chose what I did not delight in.” (Pv 1:24; Is 66:4; Jr 7:13)13Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, my servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, but you shall be put to shame; (Sl 22:26; Is 55:1)14behold, my servants shall sing for gladness of heart, but you shall cry out for pain of heart and shall wail for breaking of spirit. (Sl 5:11)15You shall leave your name to my chosen for a curse, and the Lord God will put you to death, but his servants he will call by another name, (Dt 28:37; Is 62:2; Is 65:9; Jr 29:22; Zc 8:13)16so that he who blesses himself in the land shall bless himself by the God of truth, and he who takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten and are hidden from my eyes. (Dt 32:4; Is 43:18; Jr 4:2)
New Heavens and a New Earth
17“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind. (Is 66:22; 2 Pe 3:13; Ap 21:1)18But be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a joy, and her people to be a gladness. (Jr 31:7)19I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in my people; no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping and the cry of distress. (Is 35:10; Is 62:5; Is 66:10; Ap 21:4)20No more shall there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not fill out his days, for the young man shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed. (Pv 3:2; Ec 8:12)21They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. (Dt 28:30; Ez 28:26)22They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be, and my chosen shall long enjoy[3] the work of their hands. (Sl 92:12; Is 65:21)23They shall not labor in vain or bear children for calamity,[4] for they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the Lord, and their descendants with them. (Dt 28:41; Sl 115:12; Is 49:4; Is 61:9)24Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear. (Sl 32:5; Dn 9:21)25The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,” says the Lord. (Gn 3:14; Is 11:6; Is 11:9; Mq 7:17)
