1E ouvi uma voz poderosa vinda do templo e bradando muito alto aos sete anjos: “Vão agora, lancem sobre a Terra as sete taças com a ira divina!”2Assim, o primeiro anjo saiu e derramou sobre a Terra a sua taça. E rebentaram feridas horríveis e malignas em todos aqueles que tinham o sinal do monstro e adoravam a sua estátua.3O segundo anjo derramou a sua taça sobre os mares, que se tornaram como sangue; parecia até sangue de um morto. E morreu tudo o que vive no mar.4O terceiro anjo lançou a sua taça sobre as fontes e rios, que também se tornaram em sangue.5E ouvi este anjo dizer: “Tu, Senhor, que és e que sempre eras, tu és justo e santo, ao enviares este castigo;6visto que foi derramado o sangue dos santos, teu povo, e dos profetas. É justo que os seus assassinos, quando quiserem beber água, encontrem sangue.”7E ouvi uma voz, vinda do altar, dizendo: “Sim, Senhor Deus, que tens todo o poder, o teu julgamento é feito segundo a verdade e segundo a justiça.”8Foi a vez do quarto anjo esvaziar a sua taça, agora sobre o Sol, fazendo com que este abrasasse a humanidade inteira, queimando como fogo.9De tal forma que todos foram abrasados e receberam queimaduras com esses grandes calores que se abateram sobre a Terra. Chegaram a amaldiçoar o nome de Deus por ter deixado que essas pragas fossem enviadas à Terra. Contudo, nem por isso se arrependeram mudando de atitude e abandonando o pecado, e passando a honrar a Deus e a reconhecer a sua glória.10O quinto anjo lançou a sua taça sobre o trono do monstro e o seu reino cobriu-se de trevas. Os que o serviam e lhe eram subordinados mordiam as línguas, enraivecidos e loucos de dor.11E também clamavam maldições e palavras ofensivas contra Deus, por causa do sofrimento e das chagas que lhes apareciam; mas recusaram arrepender-se das suas obras más.12A praga que o sexto anjo derramou da sua taça caiu sobre o grande rio Eufrates, que secou inteiramente, de forma a permitir a invasão dos exércitos dos reis que vinham do Oriente.13Vi então três espíritos imundos, em forma de rãs, saltarem da boca do dragão, do monstro e do seu falso profeta.14São na verdade espíritos de demónios capazes de fazerem sinais; e vão reunir os governantes de todo o mundo com vista a concentrarem as suas forças para a batalha, no grande dia do Deus Todo-Poderoso.15Diz o Senhor: “Atenção, eu hei de vir tão inesperadamente como um ladrão! Feliz aquele que me espera, desperto e atento, que se mantém vestido, que conserva o seu vestuário limpo e pronto, para que não tenha que vir a andar despido, com vergonha.”16Esses espíritos diabólicos juntaram todos os exércitos do mundo perto de um lugar que em hebraico se chama Armagedom.17Por fim, o sétimo anjo entornou a sua taça sobre os ares. E do templo ouviu-se uma voz fortíssima, que vinha do trono, dizendo: “Está terminado!”18E houve relâmpagos e trovões e um terramoto tal como nunca acontecera desde que o homem apareceu sobre a Terra.19E a grande cidade da Babilónia ficou como que fendida em três zonas e todas as outras grandes cidades e capitais ficaram em ruínas. Deus não se esqueceu da profunda maldade da grande Babilónia, a qual teve de beber até à última gota o vinho da justa ira de Deus contra o seu pecado.20Até as ilhas desapareceram e as montanhas se desfizeram, tornando-se em planícies.21Houve também uma tremenda saraivada, com pedras caindo do céu com o peso aproximado de um talento[1]. E os homens, por causa dessa extraordinária chuva, amaldiçoaram a Deus.
1Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.” (Sl 79:6; Jr 10:25; Sf 3:8; Ap 15:1; Ap 15:7)2So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful sores came upon the people who bore the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. (Ex 9:9; Ap 13:16; Ap 16:11)3The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became like the blood of a corpse, and every living thing died that was in the sea. (Ap 8:8; Ap 8:9)4The third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood. (Ex 7:17; Ap 8:10)5And I heard the angel in charge of the waters[1] say, “Just are you, O Holy One, who is and who was, for you brought these judgments. (Jr 12:1; Jo 17:25; Ap 1:4; Ap 1:8; Ap 4:8; Ap 11:17; Ap 15:4)6For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!” (Is 49:26; Lc 11:49; Ap 11:18; Ap 13:15; Ap 18:24)7And I heard the altar saying, “Yes, Lord God the Almighty, true and just are your judgments!” (Sl 119:137; Ap 6:9; Ap 15:3; Ap 19:2)8The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. (Ap 9:17; Ap 14:18)9They were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed[2] the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory. (Dn 5:22; Dn 5:23; Ap 2:21; Ap 11:13; Ap 16:11; Ap 16:21)10The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish (Ex 10:21; Ap 9:2; Ap 13:2)11and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds. (Ap 2:21; Ap 11:13; Ap 16:2)12The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. (Is 11:15; Is 41:2; Is 41:25; Is 44:27; Is 46:11; Jr 50:38; Jr 51:32; Jr 51:36; Ap 7:2; Ap 9:14)13And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. (Ex 8:6; Ap 12:3; Ap 12:9; Ap 13:1; Ap 13:11; Ap 13:14; Ap 18:2; Ap 19:20; Ap 20:10)14For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. (1 Rs 22:20; 1 Tm 4:1; Ap 6:17; Ap 13:13; Ap 17:14; Ap 19:19; Ap 20:8)15(“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”) (Mt 24:42; Ap 3:2; Ap 3:3; Ap 3:18)16And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. (Jz 5:19; Zc 12:11; Ap 19:19)
The Seventh Bowl
17The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” (Ef 2:2; Ap 10:6)18And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings,[3] peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. (Dn 12:1; Jl 2:2; Mt 24:21; Ap 4:5; Ap 6:12; Ap 8:5; Ap 11:13; Ap 11:19)19The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. (Sl 74:18; Ap 11:8; Ap 11:13; Ap 14:8; Ap 14:10; Ap 18:5)20And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. (Ap 6:14)21And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds[4] each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe. (Ex 9:23; Ap 11:19; Ap 16:9; Ap 16:11)
