Psalm 77

New International Reader’s Version

von Biblica
1 I cried out to God for help. I cried out to God to hear me.2 When I was in trouble, I looked to the Lord for help. During the night I lifted up my hands in prayer. But I refused to be comforted.3 God, I remembered you, and I groaned. I thought about you, and I became weak.4 You kept me from going to sleep. I was so troubled I couldn’t speak.5 I thought about days gone by. I thought about the years of long ago.6 I remembered how I used to sing praise to you in the night. I thought about it, and here is what I asked myself.7 ‘Will the Lord turn away from us for ever? Won’t he ever show us his kindness again?8 Has his faithful love disappeared for ever? Has his promise failed for all time?9 Has God forgotten to help us? Has he held back his tender love because he was angry?’10 Then I thought, ‘Here is what gives me hope. For many years the Most High God showed how powerful he is.11 LORD, I will remember what you did. Yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.12 I will spend time thinking about everything you have done. I will consider all your mighty acts.’13 God, everything you do is holy. What god is as great as our God?14 You are the God who does miracles. You show your power among the nations.15 With your mighty arm you set your people free. You set the children of Jacob and Joseph free.16 God, the water of the Red Sea saw you. It saw you and boiled up. The deepest waters were stirred up.17 The clouds poured down rain. The skies rumbled with thunder. Lightning flashed to and fro like arrows.18 Your thunder was heard in the violent storm. Your lightning lit up the world. The earth trembled and shook.19 Your path led through the Red Sea. You walked through the mighty waters. But your footprints were not seen.20 You led your people like a flock. You led them by the hands of Moses and Aaron.

Psalm 77

English Standard Version

von Crossway
1 To the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me. (Ps 3,4; Ps 39,1; Ps 50,1)2 In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted. (1Mo 37,35; Ps 20,1; Ps 50,15; Ps 63,6; Ps 86,7; Ps 143,6; Jes 26,9; Jes 26,16)3 When I remember God, I moan; when I meditate, my spirit faints. (Ps 42,5; Ps 42,11; Ps 43,5)4 You hold my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak. (1Mo 41,8)5 I consider the days of old, the years long ago. (5Mo 32,7; Ps 44,1; Ps 77,10; Ps 143,5; Jes 51,9)6 I said,[1] “Let me remember my song in the night; let me meditate in my heart.” Then my spirit made a diligent search: (Ps 4,4; Ps 42,8)7 “Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable? (Ps 44,9; Ps 85,1)8 Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time? (Röm 9,6)9 Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” (Jes 49,15; Hab 3,2)10 Then I said, “I will appeal to this, to the years of the right hand of the Most High.”[2] (Ps 118,15)11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. (Ps 77,5; Ps 105,5)12 I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds. (Ps 9,11; Ps 90,16)13 Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? (Ps 35,10; Ps 73,17)14 You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples. (Ps 72,18; Ps 106,8)15 You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. (2Mo 6,6; 5Mo 9,29; Ps 74,2)16 When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the deep trembled. (2Mo 14,21; Jos 3,15; Ps 114,3; Hab 3,10)17 The clouds poured out water; the skies gave forth thunder; your arrows flashed on every side. (Ps 18,14; Ps 68,33)18 The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook. (Ps 18,7; Ps 97,4; Ps 104,7)19 Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen.[3] (Ps 36,6; Hab 3,15)20 You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. (2Mo 13,21; 2Mo 14,19; Ps 78,52; Ps 80,1; Jes 63,11)
