1 Wie glücklich ist der, / der keinen Umgang mit Gottlosigkeiten hat, / der sich an Sündern kein Beispiel nimmt / und nicht mit Spöttern zusammensitzt, 2 sondern Gefallen hat an der Weisung Jahwes[1] / und über sein Gesetz Tag und Nacht sinnt! 3 Der ist wie ein Baum, am Wasser gepflanzt, / der seine Frucht zu seiner Zeit bringt / und dessen Laub niemals verwelkt. / Ja, was er auch tut, wird für ihn gut.[2] (Röm 8,28) 4 Doch so ergeht es Gottlosen nicht. / Sie werden vom Wind verweht wie die Spreu. 5 Deshalb bestehen Gottlose nicht im Gericht / und Sünder nicht in Gottes Volk. 6 Denn Jahwe achtet auf den Weg der Gerechten,[3] / aber der, den die Gottlosen gehen, führt sie in den Untergang.

1 Blessed is the person who obeys the law of the LORD. They don’t follow the advice of evil people. They don’t make a habit of doing what sinners do. They don’t join those who make fun of the LORD and his law. 2 Instead, the law of the LORD gives them joy. They think about his law day and night. 3 That kind of person is like a tree that is planted near a stream of water. It always bears its fruit at the right time. Its leaves don’t dry up. Everything godly people do turns out well. 4 Sinful people are not like that at all. They are like straw that the wind blows away. 5 When the LORD judges them, their life will come to an end. Sinners won’t have any place among those who are godly. 6 The LORD watches over the lives of godly people. But the lives of sinful people will lead to their death.

1 Blessed is the man[1] who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; (Hi 21,16; Ps 26,4; Ps 107,32; Spr 1,10; Spr 1,22; Spr 3,34; Spr 4,14; Spr 19,29; Spr 21,24; Spr 29,8; Jes 28,14; Jer 15,17) 2 but his delight is in the law[2] of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. (Jos 1,8; Ps 112,1; Ps 119,1; Ps 119,35; Ps 119,47; Ps 119,92; Ps 119,97) 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
