Die Zehn Gebote

1 Mose rief ganz Israel zusammen und sagte: Höre, Israel, die Vorschriften und Bestimmungen, die ich euch heute verkünde! Lernt sie, bewahrt sie und tut sie! 2 Jahwe, unser Gott, hat am Horeb einen Bund mit uns geschlossen. 3 Er schloss diesen Bund nicht mit unseren Vätern, sondern mit uns, die wir heute und hier am Leben sind. 4 Auf dem Berg hat Jahwe mitten aus dem Feuer direkt mit euch geredet. 5 Ich stand damals zwischen Jahwe und euch, um euch seine Worte weiterzugeben, denn ihr habt euch vor Jahwe gefürchtet und seid nicht auf den Berg gestiegen. Er sagte: 6 „Ich bin Jahwe, dein Gott! Ich habe dich aus dem Sklavenhaus Ägyptens befreit. 7 Du sollst^[1] keine anderen Götter haben neben mir! (2Mo 20,3) 8 Du sollst dir kein Götterbild machen, kein Abbild von irgendetwas im Himmel, auf der Erde oder im Meer! 9 Wirf dich niemals vor ihnen nieder und verehre sie auf keinen Fall! Denn ich, Jahwe, ich, dein Gott, bin ein eifersüchtiger Gott. Wer mich verachtet und beiseitestellt, bei dem verfolge ich die Schuld der Väter noch bis zur dritten und vierten Generation. 10 Doch wer mich liebt und meine Gebote hält, dem schenke ich meine Gunst auf tausend Generationen hin. 11 Du sollst den Namen Jahwes, deines Gottes, nie missbrauchen! Denn Jahwe wird jeden bestrafen, der seinen Namen mit Nichtigkeiten in Verbindung bringt. 12 Achte auf den Sabbattag und überlass ihn Gott! Denn so hat Jahwe, dein Gott, es dir befohlen. 13 Sechs Tage hast du, um all deine Arbeit zu tun, 14 aber der siebte Tag ist Sabbat für Jahwe, deinen Gott. An diesem Tag sollst du nicht arbeiten, weder du noch dein Sohn oder deine Tochter, weder dein Sklave noch deine Sklavin, nicht einmal dein Rind oder Esel oder dein Vieh oder der Fremde, der in deinem Ort wohnt. Auch dein Sklave und deine Sklavin sollen ruhen wie du! 15 Denk daran, dass du selbst Sklave in Ägypten warst und dass Jahwe, dein Gott, dich mit starker Hand und ausgestrecktem Arm von dort herausgeführt hat! Deshalb hat Jahwe, dein Gott, dir befohlen, den Sabbat zu feiern. 16 Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter, wie Jahwe, dein Gott, es dir geboten hat! Dann wirst du lange leben und es wird dir gut gehen in dem Land, das Jahwe, dein Gott, dir gibt. 17 Du sollst nicht morden! 18 Du sollst die Ehe nicht brechen! 19 Du sollst nicht stehlen! 20 Du sollst nichts Unwahres über deinen Nächsten aussagen! 21 Und die Frau deines Nächsten sollst du nicht begehren! Begehre auch nicht sein Haus, sein Feld, seinen Sklaven oder seine Sklavin, sein Rind oder seinen Esel oder sonst etwas, das ihm gehört!“ 22 Diese Worte sagte Jahwe auf dem Berg zu eurer ganzen Versammlung aus dem Feuer, den Wolken und dem Dunkel heraus mit gewaltiger Stimme. Er fügte nichts hinzu. Dann schrieb er sie auf zwei Steintafeln und gab sie mir.

Mose zwischen Gott und dem Volk

23 Als ihr die Stimme aus der Finsternis hörtet, während ihr den Berg in Flammen saht, kamt ihr zu mir. Es waren eure Stammesoberen und eure Ältesten. 24 Sie sagten: „Jahwe, unser Gott, hat uns seine Herrlichkeit und Größe gezeigt. Wir haben seine Stimme aus dem Feuer gehört. Heute haben wir gesehen, dass Gott mit den Menschen reden kann, ohne dass sie sterben müssen. 25 Aber warum sollen wir jetzt sterben? Dieses schreckliche Feuer wird uns vernichten. Wenn wir noch länger die Stimme Jahwes, unseres Gottes, hören, werden wir sterben. 26 Welcher sterbliche Mensch hätte wie wir die Stimme des lebendigen Gottes aus dem Feuer gehört und wäre am Leben geblieben? 27 Geh du allein hin und höre, was Jahwe, unser Gott, uns sagt. Du sollst uns dann alles weitergeben, was Jahwe, unser Gott, dir sagt. Und wir wollen es hören und tun.“ 28 Jahwe hörte euer Geschrei, als ihr auf mich eingeredet habt, und sagte zu mir: „Ich habe das Geschrei dieses Volkes gehört. Alles, was sie gesagt haben, ist gut. 29 Mögen sie diese Gesinnung behalten, dass sie mich allezeit fürchten und alle meine Gebote halten, damit es ihnen und ihren Kindern immer gut geht! 30 Geh und sag ihnen: 'Kehrt in eure Zelte zurück!' 31 Du aber bleib hier bei mir stehen! Ich will dir alle Gebote verkünden, auch die Vorschriften und Bestimmungen, die du sie lehren sollst, damit sie danach handeln in dem Land, das ich ihnen zum Besitz gebe.“ 32 Achtet nun darauf, es so zu tun, wie Jahwe, euer Gott, es euch befohlen hat, und weicht nicht rechts oder links davon ab. 33 Bleibt genau auf dem Weg, den er euch mit seinen Geboten gewiesen hat, damit ihr am Leben bleibt und es euch gut geht und ihr lange in dem Land lebt, das ihr in Besitz nehmt.

1 وَاسْتَدْعَى مُوسَى جَمِيعَ الإِسْرَائِيلِيِّينَ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «اسْمَعُوا يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الشَّرَائِعَ وَالأَحْكَامَ الَّتِي أَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكُمْ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ، وَتَعَلَّمُوهَا وَاحْرِصُوا عَلَى مُمَارَسَتِهَا. 2 قَطَعَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُنَا مَعَنَا عَهْداً فِي جَبَلِ حُورِيبَ. 3 لَيْسَ مَعَ آبَائِنَا قَطَعَ هَذَا الْعَهْدَ، إِنَّمَا مَعَنَا نَحْنُ الَّذِينَ هُنَا الْيَوْمَ جَمِيعاً أَحْيَاءُ، 4 إِذْ تَكَلَّمَ الرَّبُّ مَعَنَا فِي الْجَبَلِ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ وَجْهاً لِوَجْهٍ. 5 وَكُنْتُ أَنَا وَاقِفاً بَيْنَ الرَّبِّ وَبَيْنَكُمْ، لأَنَّكُمْ خِفْتُمْ مِنَ النَّارَ، فَلَمْ تَصْعَدُوا إِلَى الْجَبَلِ. فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ: 6 أَنَا هُوَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ الَّذِي حَرَّرَكَ مِنْ سِجْنِ الْعُبُودِيَّةِ فِي دِيَارِ مِصْرَ. 7 لَا يَكُنْ لَكَ آلِهَةٌ أُخْرَى أَمَامِي. 8 لَا تَنْحَتْ لَكَ تِمْثَالاً، وَلا صُورَةً مَا مِمَّا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ وَمَا فِي الْمَاءِ تَحْتَ الأَرْضِ. 9 لَا تَسْجُدْ لَهَا وَلا تَعْبُدْهَا، لأَنِّي أَنَا الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ إِلَهٌ غَيُورٌ، أَفْتَقِدُ مَعَاصِيَ الآبَاءِ فِي الأَبْنَاءِ حَتَّى الْجِيلِ الثَّالِثِ وَالرَّابِعِ مِنْ مُبْغِضِيَّ. 10 وَأُحْسِنُ إِلَى أُلُوفٍ مِنْ مُحِبِّيَّ وَطَائِعِي وَصَايَايَ. 11 لَا تَنْطِقْ بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكَ بَاطِلاً، لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ لَا يُبْرِئُ مَنْ يَنْطِقُ بِاسْمِهِ بَاطِلاً. 12 احْفَظْ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ مُقَدَّساً كَمَا أَوْصَاكَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ. 13 سِتَّةَ أَيَّامٍ تَشْتَغِلُ وَتَقُومُ بِجَمِيعِ أَعْمَالِكَ، 14 وَأَمَّا الْيَوْمُ السَّابِعُ فَيَكُونُ يَوْمَ رَاحَةٍ لِلرَّبِّ إِلَهِكَ، لَا تَقُومُ فِيهِ بِأَيِّ عَمَلٍ أَنْتَ وَابْنُكَ وَابْنَتُكَ وَعَبْدُكَ وَأَمَتُكَ وَثَوْرُكَ وَحِمَارُكَ وَكُلُّ بَهَائِمِكَ، وَالأَجْنَبِيُّ الْمُقِيمُ دَاخِلَ أَبْوَابِكَ، لِيَسْتَرِيحَ عَبْدُكَ وَأَمَتُكَ مِثْلَكَ. 15 وَتَذَكَّرْ أَنَّكَ كُنْتَ عَبْداً فِي دِيَارِ مِصْرَ، فَأَطْلَقَكَ الرَّبُّ مِنْ هُنَاكَ بِقُدْرَةٍ فَائِقَةٍ وَقُوَّةٍ شَدِيدَةٍ، لِهَذَا أَوْصَاكَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ أَنْ تَرْتَاحَ فِي يَوْمِ السَّبْتِ. 16 أَكْرِمْ أَبَاكَ وَأُمَّكَ كَمَا أَمَرَكَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ، فَتَطُولَ أَيَّامُكَ وَيَكُونَ لَكَ خَيْرٌ عَلَى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي يُوَرِّثُهَا لَكَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ. 17 لَا تَقْتُلْ. 18 لَا تَزْنِ. 19 لَا تَسْرِقْ. 20 لَا تَشْهَدْ عَلَى جَارِكَ شَهَادَةَ زُورٍ. 21 لَا تَشْتَهِ امْرَأَةَ غَيْرِكَ وَلا بَيْتَهُ وَلا حَقْلَهُ وَلا عَبْدَهُ وَلا أَمَتَهُ وَلا ثَوْرَهُ وَلا حِمَارَهُ وَلا أَيَّاً مِمَّا لَهُ. 22 إِنَّ الرَّبَّ قَدْ أَعْلَنَ بِصَوْتٍ عَظِيمٍ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَاتِ لِكُلِّ جَمَاعَتِكُمْ فِي الْجَبَلِ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ وَالسَّحَابِ وَلَمْ يَزِدْ. وَنَقَشَهَا عَلَى لَوْحَيْنِ مِنْ حَجَرٍ وَأَعْطَانِي إِيَّاهَا. 23 فَلَمَّا سَمِعْتُمُ الصَّوْتَ مِنْ وَسَطِ الظَّلامِ، وَالْجَبَلُ يَشْتَعِلُ بِالنَّارِ، أَقْبَلَ عَلَيَّ جَمِيعُ قَادَةِ أَسْبَاطِكُمْ وَشُيُوخِكُمْ، 24 وَقَالُوا: قَدْ أَظْهَرَ الرَّبُّ لَنَا مَجْدَهُ وَعَظَمَتَهُ، وَسَمِعْنَا صَوْتَهُ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ، وَرَأَيْنَا فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ أَنَّ اللهَ يُخَاطِبُ الإِنْسَانَ فَلا يَمُوتُ. 25 وَلَكِنِ الآنَ، إِنْ عُدْنَا نَسْمَعُ صَوْتَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِنَا فَإِنَّ هَذِهِ النَّارَ الْعَظِيمَةَ تَلْتَهِمُنَا. فَلِمَاذَا نَمُوتُ؟ 26 إِذْ أَيُّ بَشَرِيٍّ سَمِعَ صَوْتَ اللهِ الْحَيِّ يَتَكَلَّمُ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ مِثْلَنَا وَعَاشَ؟ 27 فَتَقَدَّمْ أَنْتَ وَاسْتَمِعْ كُلَّ مَا يَنْطِقُ بِهِ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُنَا، وَخَاطِبْنَا بِجَمِيعِ مَا يُكَلِّمُكَ بِهِ، فَنَسْتَمِعَ وَنُطِيعَ. 28 فَسَمِعَ الرَّبُّ حَدِيثَكُمْ حِينَ كَلَّمْتُمُونِي، وَقَالَ لِي: لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ حَدِيثَ الشَّعْبِ الَّذِي كَلَّمُوكَ بِهِ. وَقَدْ أَحْسَنُوا فِي كُلِّ مَا قَالُوهُ. 29 يَا لَيْتَ قَلْبَهُمْ يَظَلُّ مُتَعَلِّقاً بِي حَتَّى يَتَّقُونِي وَيُطِيعُوا جَمِيعَ وَصَايَايَ دَائِماً، لِكَيْ يَتَمَتَّعُوا هُمْ وَأَوْلادُهُمْ بِالْخَيْرِ إِلَى الأَبَدِ. 30 اذْهَبْ وَقُلْ لَهُمْ: ارْجِعُوا إِلَى خِيَامِكُمْ. 31 وَأَمَّا أَنْتَ فَامْثُلْ هُنَا أَمَامِي، فَأُكَلِّمَكَ بِجَمِيعِ الْوَصَايَا وَالشَّرَائِعِ وَالأَحْكَامِ لِتُعَلِّمَهَا لَهُمْ فَيَعْمَلُوا بِها فِي الأَرْضِ الَّتِي وَهَبْتُهَا لَهُمْ لِيَمْتَلِكُوهَا. 32 فَاحْرِصُوا عَلَى الْعَمَلِ بِكُلِّ مَا أَمَرَكُمْ بِهِ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ، لَا تَحِيدُوا يَمِيناً أَوْ شِمَالاً. 33 وَاسْلُكُوا فِي كُلِّ الطَّرِيقِ الَّتِي أَوْصَاكُمْ بِها الرَّبُّ لِتَحْيَوْا وَتَزْدَهِرُوا وَتَمْكُثُوا طَوِيلاً فِي الأَرْضِ الَّتِي تَرِثُونَهَا.

1 And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rules that I speak in your hearing today, and you shall learn them and be careful to do them. 2 The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. (2Mo 19,5; 5Mo 4,23) 3 Not with our fathers did the Lord make this covenant, but with us, who are all of us here alive today. 30 Go and say to them, “Return to your tents.” 31 But you, stand here by me, and I will tell you the whole commandment and the statutes and the rules that you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land that I am giving them to possess.’ (Gal 3,19) 32 You shall be careful therefore to do as the Lord your God has commanded you. 22 Это повеления, которые Вечный объявил громким голосом всему народу там, на горе, из огня, облака и кромешной тьмы. Больше Он ничего не добавил. Потом Он написал эти повеления на двух каменных плитках и дал их мне. (2Mo 20,18) 23 Когда вы слышали голос из тьмы, а гора пылала огнём, все вожди ваших родов и ваши старейшины пришли ко мне 24 и сказали: «Вечный, наш Бог, показал нам Свою славу и величие, и мы слышали Его голос из огня. Сегодня мы увидели, что человек может жить, даже если Всевышний говорит с ним. 25 Но зачем нам рисковать жизнью ещё раз? Этот великий огонь пожрёт нас, и мы погибнем, если и дальше будем слышать голос Вечного, нашего Бога. 26 Ведь кто из смертных когда-либо слышал, как мы, голос живого Бога, говорящего из огня, и остался жив? 27 Иди и выслушай, что говорит Вечный, наш Бог. Потом перескажи нам всё, что Вечный, наш Бог, тебе скажет. Мы выслушаем и исполним». 28 Вечный услышал вас, когда вы говорили со мной, и сказал мне: «Я услышал всё, что говорили тебе эти люди. Всё, что они сказали, хорошо. 29 О если бы их сердце побуждало их всегда жить в страхе предо Мной и соблюдать все Мои повеления, то с ними и с их детьми всё было бы благополучно! 30 Иди, скажи им, чтобы они вернулись к своим шатрам. 31 Но сам останься здесь со Мной, чтобы Я дал тебе все повеления, установления и законы. Ты должен научить их следовать им в земле, которую Я отдаю им во владение». 32 Смотрите же, исполняйте то, что повелел вам Вечный, ваш Бог; не уклоняйтесь ни вправо, ни влево. 33 Всегда идите тем путём, которым повелел вам идти Вечный, ваш Бог, чтобы жить и преуспевать и умножить свои дни в земле, которой вы завладеете.
